• MS Access (2010) Enable Design View

  I downloaded the Access template below for doing a home inventory: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/results.aspx?qu=home%20inventory&ex=1&queryid=0d245f2a%2Dacdc%2D4161%2D92c8%2D8ba16a52ab32&AxInstalled=1&c=0#ai:TC101918100| The design view is not visible, which is a bit of a nuisance. Things I've tried: 1) In options/options/current database/ the check boxes (enable layout view & enable design changes for tables in Datasheet view) are both greyed out. 2) I've unblocked the file using Right-Click-Properties. 3) I've tried copying/exporting the objects to another database. But can only copy/export the tables. 4) I've tried holding shift when opening the DB. 5) Enabling all trust permissions etc. None of these work Does anybody have any suggestions. (I'm using Office 2010) Thanks

  Hi there IMHO to me OOPS, design patterns make sense and i have been able to apply them practically. But when it comes to "generic programming /meta programming" of the Modern C++ kind, i am left confused. -- Is it a new programming/design paradigm ? -- Is it just limited to "library development"? If not, What design/coding situations call for using meta programming/generic programming. -- Does using templates mean i am doing generic programming? I have googled a lot on this topic but do not grasp the BIG PICTURE fully. Also see this post. After reading dicussions here under, up till now, I am sure ( might still not be correct): a) Generic programming and meta programming are two different concepts.

• Why does my exchange message filtering rule not work?

  I have two rules set up to sort incoming bug reports. The first is specific to a single device: Apply this rule after the message arrives sent to SMS Distribution and with <source_device_number>: in the body move it to the BugReports\<source_device_number> folder ..and the second is a catch-all for everything else: Apply this rule after the message arrives sent to SMS Distribution move it to the BugReports folder For some reason though, the first rule never seems to act even though it's higher in the list. So for some reason an email like the following doesn't seem to get caught by the first rule: From: <SourceDeviceUID> To: SMS Distributor Subject: Message from <SourceDeviceUID> Message: <source_device_number>: Device encountered a problem. Details below... ...where <source_device_number> is an integer. The second rule works fine. But for some high-priority devices, I want them automatically sorted. Why might that first rule fail?

• saving and searching encrypted mail

  I often send and receive gpg-encrypted mail. At the moment I use thunderbird + enigmail (in linux) to do that. As far as I know there is no way in thunderbird to find all encrypted messages which bodies contain particular keywords. There also seems to be no option to save encrypted mails decrypted (so they would be searchable). However for me it is important to be able to search old encrypted mails. So my question is: Is there a way in linux to save incoming mails automatically decrypted in my inbox and save outgoing encrypted mail decrypted in the send folder? Both times adding a line to the body which remarks that the mail was encrypted. It could be another email client for linux that could to that or perhaps a solution using procmail or maildrop. For a procmail solution I guess there could be some problems with encoding (perhaps one have to use emil?) the solution should work well with german special characters in subject and body. Note that the solution should work for multipart encrypted messages (including encrypted attachments) too i.e. with everything which could thunderbird + enigmail generate. Further note that I don't want a discussion about security holes. For me it's ok if messages are stored decrypted on my harddrive (which is encrypted as a whole anyway). In doubt for a first solution it would be ok to store my private key passphrase in cleartext on my harddrive, too. The point is that the mails are encrypted on the mailserver or more generally on their "way through the net".

• How can I report a website that uses the webmail APIs to send spam?

  I've signed up for a cool job website that, unfortunately, asks you if you want to "invite your friends", and if you say so, you can give them access to your Gmail contacts to send the invite. However, contrary to what everyone would be expecting, they don't give you a list of who you want to invite; instead, they simply directly send spam to your entire contact list, like old-fashioned Outlook viruses. When you complain about this with them, they simply say "we will check the application and see if there is anything that might be confusing for the users". For me and some other friends (that felt for the same prank), this is a clear break on web best practices and a big disrespect on the users' trust. Thus, I would like to know what can we do to stop the website of using Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook APIs to send spam this way. P.S.: I wonder what would happen if I've given this website the access to post in my Facebook timeline as well. I've got a couple of calls from relatives asking about the email and I wonder how many unrelated people got this spam, like HR addresses from my past and whatnot.

• How do you post content to a specific template position?

  I can't figure this out. I purchased a template / theme from RocketTheme, but I can't figure out how to add content at a specific position. The templates have "module positions" that collapse. I'd like to add some content at one of the module positions. If I add articles, they seem to go into "mainbody". But I'd like to have content in other areas of the template. How do I take some text, images, or other content, and get them to display in these other positions (i.e., TOP-A, or FEATURE-A, etc)?

• Visual Studio Custom Project Template

  Hi All, I have created a Custom C# Project Template for Visual Studio 2008. It works perfect. Only issue is that i have to place the zip file for the project template under the "C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual C#" Now as this folder is specific to each user on the machine, I will have to make sure that all the users on the machine has the project template installed seperately. Is there any way I can just install it once and all the users can get this project template. In short can I change the Custom Project template Install directory?

  Is it possible to use a non-type constant template parameter in a preprocessor directive? Here's what I have in mind: template <int DING> struct Foo { enum { DOO = DING }; }; template <typename T> struct Blah { void DoIt() { #if (T::Doo & 0x010) // somecode here #endif } }; When I try this with something like Blah<Foo<0xFFFF>>, VC++ 2010 complains something about unmatched parentheses in the line where we are trying to use "#if". I am guessing the preprocessor doesn't really know anything about templates and this sort of thing just isn't in its domain. What say? Thanks!

• Postfix character encoding?

  I use Postfix as a mailserver. I have Ubuntu OS. Then I use PHP to send emails. Problem is that none of my emails are encoded properly by a mailsoftware which my VPS provider uses. According to them, the problem lies with me. It is only the name field which isn't encoded properly. For example "Björn" becomes "Björn" in my emails. However, when I echo the $name, it outputs "Björn" which is correct. Also, gmail and hotmail does show it correctly. The strange part is that the "text" (the message itself) is encoded properly. I use the following for sending mail: $headers="MIME-Version: 1.0"."\n"; $headers.="Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8"."\n"; $headers.="From: $name <$email>"."\n"; $name= iconv(mb_detect_encoding($name), "UTF-8//IGNORE//TRANSLIT", $name); //// I HAVE TRIED WITH AND WITHOUT THE LINE ABOVE, NO DIFFERENCE mail($to, '=?UTF-8?B?'.base64_encode($subject).'?=', $text, $headers, '[email protected]'); I have tried with and without the iconv line also, no luck. The last thing I can think of is POSTFIX, could there be a setting for character encoding there? Anybody knows?

• Under what conditions will sendmail try to immediately resend a message instead of waiting for the standard requeue interval?

  CentOS 5.8 | Sendmail 8.14.4 I used to think that if SendMail experienced a temporary (400-class) error during delivery, it would place the message in a deferred queue (e.g. /var/spool/mqueue) and retry an hour later. For the most part, that appears to be the case. • Babel Django Off By 1 Cent

  I ran into a problem today while using BabelDjango and thought I would ask if anyone has ran into anything similar. I was using the tags in my templates, {% load babel %} and then {{amount_owed|currencyfmt:"USD"}} which returned the amount_owed minus one-cent. I thought maybe the returned value was 9.949999 which should still be $9.95 but when I returned the raw value it returned "9.95". However when I formatted it using the babel tags the rsult was off by one-cent. My 9.95 returned "$9.94" Anyone have any advice where to look to troubleshoot this problem? • Issue with exim4u

  I am using exim4u for a mail server on debian. Everything has been working fine until recently. I have not done anything to the server from the time it was working until now. I have a domain set up and is receiving and sending mail correctly. When i put a forwarding address in to a gmail address, I can still receive and send email from my webmail client but it never makes it to gmail.   I have a parent class which is templated, and a child class which implements it. template< typename T1, typename T2> class ParentClass{ . . . }; class ChildClass : public ParentClass<MyT1, MyT2> { . . . }; And I want to have a pointer which I can use polymorphically: ParentClass<T1, T2>* ptr; ptr = static_cast<ParentClass<MyT1, MyT2>* >(new ChildClass() ); No matter how I cast it, I always get a C2664 which has the same expression: error C2664: cannot convert parameter 1 from 'ParentClass< T1,T2 *' to 'ParentClass< T1,T2 *' Is it not possible to cast pointer types between inherited types if the parent is templated, even if the types specified in the templates are the same?

• UW-IMAP server, high load for one user

  We have been experiencing a very strange anomaly, with one specific user with our UW-IMAP server. We have about 75 users using the server, and one particular user, who is in about the middle as far as used storage keeps having issues with slow speed. Most of our users all use Thunderbird 2, or Thunderbird 3. Mostly 2, because of the performance issues we have had with 3. This user was on 3, and I downgraded him to 2. The performance has gotten better, but according to the imapd processes on the server, his username is using the most CPU % and CPU time. I've already done all the usual T/S'ing: Started profile from scratch, compacted folders, re-indexed, newer faster computer, etc.. Still, this users' imapd process is always using the most CPU on the server. For troubleshooting, we setup another user which has more usage, folders, etc.. than he does, but we don't see the users process taking up most of the CPU with the imapd process. So, it almost sounds like a particular email may be the culprit, but how can we find it, if thats the problem? This has been going on for a while, and he is a management person, so his patience is about to end. Does anyone have any ideas?

  I have configured my first server (Debian with ISPConfig). Generally i want to send bulk e-mails to our users, i configure postfix and turn on postfix... but...   In one of our class sir said that template allows one to customize behavior of class, and then he gave example of string class, that with few lines of code we can customize string class from STL, as in, we can make it to treat 'a' and 'z' same, 'b' and 'y' same, 'c' and 'x' same and so on. Similary 'A' and 'Z' same etc. "abc" == "zyx" is true; "Abc" == "zyx" is false; "Abc == "Zyx" is true; etc I was thinking of implementing such string class, but I am not able to do so. How can we implement such string class using templates?

• Some Emails incoming to Outlook 2007 are blank, same emails work fine on webmail, iphone, etc

  This is a pretty easy problem to describe. Basically users who have just been upgraded to Outlook 2007 (yeah I know 2010 is out), are not receiving SOME emails (from outside our domain, ie hotmail, yahoo). Receiving is not the correct word, these emails come in, along with their attachments, subjects, to/from line, etc. But the body is blank. If the same user goes into their webmail, iphone, blackberry instead, they can read the message fine. It's clear to me that something in Outlook 2007 is not generating the body correctly, so it just strips it. I just don't know WHY. Our mail server was recently upgraded to Exchange 2010, users on 2010 running outlook 2003 are working fine, it's just the random emails for users using 2007. I hope I made that clear enough, thank you for any future help guys. EDIT: I don't see rft, but i swear I've seen it before. • Can someone rid me of these turbulent T4 template editors?

  I'm using Tangible's editor and (no offense guys) it sucks. Its one painful step above notepad. But its (afaik) the only game in town. Does anybody have any tips/tricks on creating T4 templates in a non-painful way? For instance, I'm thinking about creating a T4 Template that essentially turns a class defined in a solution into a template generator. DTE, look for code that is marked with this or that attribute, run this or that method, and drop the results into a file. At least I'd get legit intellisense out of the deal...

• Suggestion regarding pointing domains to a dedicated server.

  I recently got a dedicated server and I am still at a learning stage. So please bear with me. I wanted to have 3 domains pointed to my server, but initially I asked them the process to point me one and they responded with: Hello, I can set that rDNS for you. Please make sure the domain is pointed to our name servers at godaddy. They are: ns1.xxxxx.net ns2.xxxxx.net After this is done, please allow up to 24 hours for global propagation. Alternatively, we can host your DNS for you if you prefer. What is the domain you would like xx.xxx.xx.xx to resolve to? I then asked him to point one of my domains. They responded, Did you want us to host your dns for that domain or just an rDNS record? They also said, Hosting your DNS is a free service here. We can only do 1 domain per IP. IF you would like to purchase additional IPs, they are $1/IP per month. I personally dont want to host DNS myself. Neither mail server. I have a single IP so far. It will then start to get expensive if I want to host 25 from these guys. I am still in the trial period. Does this seem reasonable as far as pricing goes? If I want to have some one host DNS and mail server, this is getting super expensive. Email hosting from rackspace starts at $2 per mail address, but from then on, its the same if you want added features such as archiving etc; What would you suggest I do if I am on a shoe string budget but I also want to avoid hassle of doing it myself and I only have 3 domains so far and I would need few mail addresses for each of them.

  I am learning Django and got it to work with wsgi. I'm following the tutorial here: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.1/intro/tutorial01/ My question is: how can I customize the look and feel of Django? Is there a repository of templates that "look good", kind of like there are for Wordpress, that I can start from? I find the tutorial counterintuitive in that it goes immediately toward customizing the admin page of Django, rather than the main pages visible to users of the site. Is there an example of a "typical" Django site, with a decent template, that I can look at and built on/modify? The polls application is again not very representative since it's so specialized. any references on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

• Will Visual Studio 2010 support HTML 5?

  Since Visual Studio 2010 is slated for release in March of 2010 and HTML 5 is now starting to be used even more widely, I would like to know if Visual Studio will ship with HTML 5 templates, standard controls and support for the more common markup? A definition for support of HTML 5 would be that any new version of Visual Studio should have similar support for code-completion, validation and markup that is currently supported for HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.0 and 1.1. Update From the Visual Web Develolper Team Blog: HTML 5 intellisense and validation schema for Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Web Developer is for downloading. Follow the instructions posted on the page to install the new scheme. Seems like the Visual Studio Team will be supporting HTML 5 after all.

  I am running several sites in several different languages off of single instance of magneto. There are two main styles Site 1 Site 2 Each site has some cusomtimizations based on language So each shop view has an some templates defined Site 2 - DE Site 2 - UK Now the problem is that when I apply a product level design, it forget's about the language level definition and skips back to the main definition. I want it to work like this Site 2 Site 2 DE Product Style But Instead it seems to work like this Site 2 Site 2 DE Product Style Where Site 2 DE is not ignored because a custom product style has been defined. How can I get the first hierarchy to work? So that my product styles do not override the language styles completely.
