  • Mercurial/.hgignore - How do I ignore everything but the contents of a folder?

    - by Beibin
I have a NetBeans project and the Mercurial repository is in the project root. I would like it to ignore everything except the contents of the "src" and "test" folders, and .hgignore itself. I'm not familiar with regular expressions and can't come up with one that will do that. The ones I tried: (?!src/.*) (?!test/.*) (?!^.hgignore) (?!src/.|test/.|.hgignore) These seem to ignore everything, I can't figure out why. Any advice would be great.

I have teamcity project that use mercurial. I did a few manually changes to the files in teamcity/buildAgent/work directory. The problem is that now I cannot update the files to the files in the repository. How can I force re checkout for the teamcity? Is there any option to get rid of the old checkout?

  • Code review tool for Vault

    - by Miki Watts
We're using Vault from SourceGear as our source control repository. Does anyone know if there's a code review tool that can work with Vault, or something that can work with local files ? I've checked the related questions, but I didn't see something that works with local files (of course I may have just missed it).

  • How to begin working with git?

    - by Erik Escobedo
I'm a Ruby on Rails developer and want to use Git for my next project, but I'm not pretty sure how to begin learning this. I have too much basic questions like "Can I run my app from the repository?", or "Can I make a rollback in the live site?" Any help will be apreciated.

  • Anything like the Debian Package Manager for Windows?

    - by interstar
I know that sounds a weird request. But I was installing a bunch of packages in Ubuntu yesterday, using apt-get and I started wondering if anyone had adapted it or produced anything similar for Windows. What I mean is a) an package manager / installer for Windows. And b) a repository of free-software packages in a compatible format.

  • Migrating svn repo with non-flat branch hierarchy to mercurial

    - by Assaf Lavie
Is there a conversion utility from svn to hg that can deal with a branch hierarchy that's more complex than just a flat list of branches under /branches? My repository has a directory that looks (conceptually) like this: /branches /projectA /v1.x /v1.1 /v1.2 etc.. IOW I need a tool that can get a tree structure as input that represents the branch hierarchy, and migrate this into hg (could be flat in HG, don't really care).

  • version control on large files

    - by Dustin Getz
We happily use SVN for SCM at work. Currently I've got our binary assets in the same SVN repository as our code. SVN supports very large files (it transmits them 'streamily' to keep memory usage sane), but it is SLOOWWWWW. What asset management software do you recommend, for about a GB (and growing) worth of assets? We would prefer branching and merging (different assets & config files go to different customers).

  • How do you use stereotype annotations in Spring 2.5.x?

    - by grigory
When moving to Spring 2.5.x I found that it adds more stereotype annotations (on top of @Repository from 2.0): @Component, @Service and @Controller. How do you use them? Do you rely on implicit Spring support or you define custom stereotype specific functions/aspects/features? Or is it predominately for marking beans (compile time, conceptual, etc.)?

  • Reverting a single file to a previous version in git

    - by georgeliquor
Is there a way to go through different commits on a file. Say I modified a file 5 times and I want to go back to change 2, after I already committed and pushed to a repository. In my understanding the only way is to keep many branches, have I got that right? If I'm right I'm gonna have hundreds of branches in a few days, so I'm probably not understanding it really. Could anyone clear that up please?

  • Maven Tutorial that Covers a Complete Project Lifecycle

    - by Jonas Laufu
Can anyone point to a maven tutorial / how-to that covers everything that is normally required during an OSS project: project creation, sources, build, test, integration in SCM, etc, deployment to one's own repository, release creation and upload? I have been able to gather all this information from ten different sources, but it is not easy to get the complete picture because every source expects a different state of existing knowledge.

  • What files should be added to SVN in an eclipse Java project?

    - by Jake Petroules
I have a Java project I'd like to commit to my SVN repository, created with eclipse. Now, what files (aside from the source code, obviously) are necessary? In the workspace root, there is a .settings folder with many files and subfolders, and inside the project folder there are two files - .classpath and .project, and another .settings folder with a single file - org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs. Which of these files should be committed to SVN and which can be safely excluded?

  • Prevent command "del /s" from entering a folder

    - by jzuniga
I need to recursively remove unnecessary files from a svn repository and i have the following batch file to do this: @echo on del /s ~*.* del /s *.~* del /s Thumbs.db However, this is also deleting the entries under the .svn/ subfolders. Is there any way to prevent this commands from being executed under the .svn/ folders so that it doesn't mess things up? Thanks in advance! EDIT: A solution using Bash (cygwin) would also work for me since i just need to do this once.

  • How to dynamically load aspx code from a database?

    - by labilbe
I have content like this stored in a database <p>This a sample text. <%= Html.ActionLink("test", "myaction", "mycontroller") %></p> The content is part of my data repository, that is the reason I want to keep it inside the database. I would like to know how it is possible to render it and execute it at compile time. I am using it on an asp.net mvc project. Thank you.

  • Where do interfaces belong in a multitier application

    - by Russell Steen
So say you have a three tier application with the tiers UI, Services, and Repository for a simple application, let's say saving addresses. If AddressService has an interface IAddressService, where does that interface belong? I know that "in the address service" may seem like an obvious answer, but if it's in the address service it would seem to defeat the point of having the interface such that any service library could be swapped in as long as it implemented IAddressService. (specifically this is in a .net problem space, but it's probably more general so it's tagged architecture)

  • eclipse+bzr (Or: DVCS + IDE)

    - by Adam Matan
Hi, I have some projects on bzr code repositories shared with colleagues. Problem is, I really want to switch to eclipse in some projects, but I don't want to pollute the repository with the unnecessary metadata eclipse creates in its Workspaces. Any idea how to keep Eclipse's metadata outside my bzr repo? Adam

  • Unpacking an assembly inside of a war

    - by Walter White
Hi all, I have another project which contains static content (css, images, JS, etc.), and I need that to be copied to the web root directory of jetty for testing. In that project, I output a zip file packaging up all of the images, CSS, etc. I have several of those virtualhost projects for different clients and my question is, how do I unpack the zip file that was already installed into the maven repository to the jetty web root? • Best Practices / Patterns for Enterprise Protection/Remediation of SSNs (Social Security Numbers)

    - by Erik Neu
I am interested in hearing about enterprise solutions for SSN handling. (I looked pretty hard for any pre-existing post on SO, including reviewing the terriffic SO automated "Related Questions" list, and did not find anything, so hopefully this is not a repeat.) First, I think it is important to enumerate the reasons systems/databases use SSNs: (note—these are reasons for de facto current state—I understand that many of them are not good reasons) Required for Interaction with External Entities. This is the most valid case—where external entities your system interfaces with require an SSN. This would typically be government, tax and financial. SSN is used to ensure system-wide uniqueness. SSN has become the default foreign key used internally within the enterprise, to perform cross-system joins. SSN is used for user authentication (e.g., log-on) The enterprise solution that seems optimum to me is to create a single SSN repository that is accessed by all applications needing to look up SSN info. This repository substitutes a globally unique, random 9-digit number (ASN) for the true SSN. I see many benefits to this approach. First of all, it is obviously highly backwards-compatible—all your systems "just" have to go through a major, synchronized, one-time data-cleansing exercise, where they replace the real SSN with the alternate ASN. Also, it is centralized, so it minimizes the scope for inspection and compliance. (Obviously, as a negative, it also creates a single point of failure.) This approach would solve issues 2 and 3, without ever requiring lookups to get the real SSN. For issue #1, authorized systems could provide an ASN, and be returned the real SSN. This would of course be done over secure connections, and the requesting systems would never persist the full SSN. Also, if the requesting system only needs the last 4 digits of the SSN, then that is all that would ever be passed. Issue #4 could be handled the same way as issue #1, though obviously the best thing would be to move away from having users supply an SSN for log-on. There are a couple of papers on this: UC Berkely: http://bit.ly/bdZPjQ Oracle Vault: bit.ly/cikbi1

  • Are Hibernate named HQL queries (in annotations) optimised?

    - by Graham Lea
A new colleague has just suggested using named HQL queries in Hibernate with annotations (i.e. @NamedQuery) instead of embedding HQL in our XxxxRepository classes. What I'd like to know is whether using the annotation provides any advantage except for centralising quueries? In particular, is there some performances gain, for instance because the query is only parsed once when the class is loaded rather than every time the Repository method is executed?

  • How do I combine multiple changelog / commit entries in mercurial

    - by Kimvais
I currently have a repository, where development work has been committed directly into the 'default' branch. I'd like to find a way to combine multiple small changesets into a single changeset, for merging the changes to child repositories. E.g in the default/main repo there are changesets something like: 12839: Fooed the bar 12838: Fixed blonking 12837: Trumped slamdunks ... 323: Started development for thingamajiks and I would like this to look like (in the child repos): 323: Added thingamajik functionality
