  • Intermittent error thrown, "A required anti-forgery token was not supplied or was invalid."

    I'm occasionally getting this error during normal use, and I've not found a way to stop it without removing the attribute that requires the token, which I'd rather not do. I've gotten this bug during my own testing (but seemingly randomly) and I know from my logging that actual logged-in users are getting it as well. Does anyone know what would cause the antiforgerytoken system to break (other than a real attack), and how I could fix this without opening up a security hole in my forms? Thanks!

  • Java Deflater strategies - DEFAULT_STRATEGY, FILTERED and HUFFMAN_ONLY

    I'm trying to find a balance between performance and degree of compression when gzipping a Java webapp response. In looking at the Deflater class, I can set a level and a strategy. The levels are self explanatory - BEST_SPEED to BEST_COMPRESSION. I'm not sure regarding the strategies - DEFAULT_STRATEGY, FILTERED and HUFFMAN_ONLY I can make some sense from the Javadoc but I was wondering if someone had used a specific strategy in their apps and if you saw any difference in terms of performance / degree of compression.   • Creating a list in Python- something sneaky going on?

    Apologies if this doesn't make any sense, I'm very new to Python! From testing in an interpreter, I can see that list() and [] both produce an empty list: >>> list() [] >>> [] [] From what I've learned so far, the only way to create an object is to call its constructor (__init__), but I don't see this happening when I just type []. So by executing [], is Python then mapping that to a call to list()?

I've been trying to do it by using: java.lang.System.setProperty("java.class.path", "whatever"); The class I'm calling requires a configuration file in the classpath to work - and I keep getting errors that seem to indicate that it hasn't gotten its settings. Is the way I'm trying to add variable incorrect?

  • Pause and resume thread drawing to SurfaceView

    I am developing a chess game for Android (http://androidchess.appspot.com), using SurfaceView for the chessboard. I have a drawing Thread, that draws the chessboard in a loop. The problem is that when there are no active animations (this is more that 90% of time), it makes no sense to waste CPU and battery for drawing. How should I solve this? Maybe somehow pausing and resuming the drawing Thread?

    I've used a tool from Aspose (Aspose.PDF.kit) to generate a JPG thumbnail on the fly of a PDF for a .NET application. This works great, but what kind of other alternatives are there? Codeproject.com has this tutorial, but it requires you to have the full version of Acrobat. Is there an open source alternative that's geared for ASP.NET?

    Dear developers, I have an application that requires Microsoft VC++ 2005 (SP1) Redistributable Package. I know that I can just download it and install it. The problem is, in our server, there is Microsoft VC++ 2008 (SP1) Redistributable Package already installed. Now, do I still need to install the 2005 (SP1) version? Or the 2008 (SP1) is "backward compatible" with 2005 (SP1)? Thank you.

    Hi, I am pretty new to programming(just finished University). I have been thought in the last 4 years about Object Oriented development and the numerous advantages of this approach. My question is Isn't it easier to use a pure Object Oriented database in development applications? Why Object Oriented database are not as much diffuse as relational? From my point of view makes sense to use OO database, the latter will avoid the numerous construction necessary for the mapping of complex objects on the tables.

    It seems that I have more trouble getting standard Unix things to run on Snow Leopard than any other platform--including Windows cygwin For the past couple of days, I've been trying to get ImageMagick to run on Snow Leopard. The error message shows it's looking in /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib. otools -L shows that this does implement 8.0.0: tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ otool -L /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib: /usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib (compatibility version 8.0.0, current version 8.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.0) tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ And, for good measure, I set the DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to make sure this directory is the one for dynamic libraries. So even though I do have a library that provides 8.0.0, it's being seen as 7.0.0! Any ideas why this would happen? So here's my question: Is it possible to get ImageMagick to run on OSX Snow Leopard? Are there any binary distributions that have static libraries baked in so I don't have to worry about these issue/

  • Multiuser XML document "database" for asp.net app

    I was thinking about a way to allow multiple users to get CRUD access to an XML document in an asp.net app. The operations would obviously have to be made under the assumption of a multithreaded environment. For perf reasons, would it make sense to cache the document, and use a mutex on that cached version? When would changes be flushed to the physical XML document? Any and all recommendations are appreciated (also "use a database" isn't an option at this point unfortunately)

But in .net DESCryptoServiceProvider requires Key and Intialisation Vector to generate the encrypted data. In this regard, I would like to know the importance & the benefit gained by defining this initialisation vector field. Is this mandatory while encryption using DES algorithm.     Hi, I can't decide which approach is better for creating objects with a large number of fields (10+) (all mandatory) the constructor approach of the getter/setter. Constructor at least you enforce that all the fields are set. Java Beans easier to see which variables are being set instead of a huge list. The builder pattern DOES NOT seem suitable here as all the fields are mandatory and the builder requires you put all mandatory parameters in the builder constructor. Thanks, D

This makes sense because i can reach every commit only through a branch or a tag ( generally speaking through a reference). That's how i traverse the tree. What other reasons had the developers of Git to make "the children know their parents but not the other way around"?/ What are the key benefits of this?

    I'd like to use ftplib to upload program-generated data as lists. The nearest method I can see for doing this is ftp.storlines, but this requires a file object with a readlines() method. Obviously I could create a file, but this seems like overkill as the data isn't persistent.
