• JSP application scope objects in Java library

  I am working on a preexisting web application built with JSP, which uses an external Java library. I want to make some JavaBeans that were instantiated with jsp:useBean tags available to the Java code. What would be a good practice to do that? I suppose I can pass the objects in question to every function call that requires them, but I'd like to avoid that.

  Hi, I'm currently doing a project that requires some fast TSP solving (about 50-100 nodes in 2 seconds). There are a lots of approximation algorithms out there, but I don't have time nor will to analyze them and code them myself. Are there any free libraries that can solve TSP problem (approximation will do too)? Something like sortedNodes = solveTspPrettyPlease(nodes, 2sec) would be just great. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, this requires an update to each item of the list every time someone sorts. This is fine for small lists, but what's the best way to implement sorting for larger lists that are constantly updated? I am looking for something that minimizes DB IO.

  The datagridview rowsremoved event gets called every time the data gets loaded. It also makes sense to a certain extent that every time the data loads, the existing rows are removed. so technically the event should get called. But how do i differenciate that from the actual delete button getting pressed. I don't think the key events should be used, that wouldn't be a clean approach. Any help will be most appreciated.

  Whenever I design a database I automatically start with an auto-generating GUID primary key for each of my tables (excepting look-up tables) I know I'll never lose sleep over duplicate keys, merging tables, etc. To me it just makes sense philosophically that any given record should be unique across all domains, and that that uniqueness should be represented in a consistent way from table to table. I realize it will never be the most performant option, but putting performance aside, I'd like to know if there are philosophical arguments against this practice?

• Unable to add PageFunction to my project.

  I add to my project a PageFunction and I get a dozen of the following error and the project won't compile: 'ResourceDictionary' root element is a generic type and requires a x:Class attribute to support the x:TypeArguments attribute specified on the root element tag. Basically I get an error for each DataTemplate I merge in the ResourceDictionary, has anyone encoutered this problem before? Note: I use VB.NET 3.5 on VS 2010.

When I click on the facebook button the new popup window is opened and it requires my facebook credentials. After I enter those, instead of just simply logging in to my site, drupal asks of me to create a new account for drupal. I'm starting up on a Sun Java 1.4.2 JVM with the following flags: -verbose:gc -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintGCDetails The log output looks like this: 54.736: [Full GC 54.737: [Tenured: 172798K->18092K(174784K), 2.3792658 secs] 257598K->18092K(259584K), [Perm : 20476K->20476K(20480K)], 2.4715398 secs] Making sense of a few hundred of these kinds of log entries would be much easier if I had a tool that would visually graph garbage collection trends.

There is a javascript being rendered on the resulting HTML page that requires a strict doctype in order to work across all browsers. However, I cant get the doctype to show up. Any thoughts on this?   I've read the max heap size on 32bit Windows is ~1.5GB which is due to the fact that the JVM requires contiguous memory. Can someone explain the concept of "contiguous memory" and why you only have max 1.5GB on Windows? Secondly, what then is the max heap size on 64 bit Windows and why is this different than what's available on 32 bit?
