pppoe connection to dsl model

Hello, I am connecting to the internet through a pppoe connection, but for some reason I can not connect to my modem (it's address is 192.168.1.1). Before I set my pppoe connection, I could connect. So, is there a way? I set up an OpenVPN server using Ubuntu and a windows server 2003 client to interconnect two networks between two different offices. They can now ping each other, but the rest of the network cannot be contacted by the windows client. Not able to connect to local network

I have installed Kubuntu , I am able to connect to Internet and able to access external sites, but in my local network i have bugzila installed that i am not able to access, even i am not able to ping the gateway also 192.168.1.1 . below is the result of ifconfig command Please help . I created a database link using database link. create public database link REMOTEDB connect to REMOTEUSER identified by REMOTEPWD using 'REMOTEDB'; then i create a table in remote db like, create table MYTABLE@REMOTEDB (name varchar2(20))); It says, ORA-02021 DDL operations are not allowed on| a remote database.. Will this Not work on any cost, or am i just missing some permissions to create ?

I am also interested in the latest edition of Windows which nothing but our Windows 7. Next to Vista I like this version very much. Out of curiosity I have installed the prebuild version of Windows 7. I tried installing the express edition here and it failed making me disappointed. I tried two or three times and finally I decided to download the trial version of Windows 7. After that I can install the Visual Studio 2010 express edition easily. Why does my Intel Tolapai network chip not transmit packets?

I'm trying to deploy an embedded system (NISE 110 by Nexcom) based on the Intel EP80579 (Tolapai) chip. Tolapai apparently integrates controllers for Ethernet etc. on a single chip (Intel homepage). The machine can't get a network connection. Diagnosis as far as I could manage: Drivers drivers from Intel compiled and installed without problems (version 1.0.3-144). Kernel version and Linux distribution (CentOS 5.2, 2.6.18) match the driver's installation instructions. drivers are loaded and show up in lsmod (module names are gcu and iegbe) interfaces eth0 and eth1 show up in ifconfig ifconfig I can bring up the interfaces with fixed IP pinging the interface locally works ifconfig shows flag UP but not RUNNING Link ethtool shows "Link detected: no", "Speed: unknown (65536)" and "Duplex: unknown (255)" Link LED is on on the other side of the cable, ethtool shows "Link detected: yes" and reports a speed of 1000 Mbps, which has allegedly been auto-neogotiated with the problematic device. Network traffic analysis the device does not reply on ARP, ICMP echo or anything else (iptables is down) when trying to send ICMP or DHCP requests, they never reach the other end activity LED is off on the device, on at the other end. I tried the following without any effect: Different cables (2 straight, one crossed), I get the link LED lit up on each. Three different devices on the other end (one PC, one netbook, one router) Fixed ARP table entries on both sides Connecting both network ports of the machine with each other, won't ping through the cable, but will ping locally. Tried straight and crossed cables for that.

Wireless will not connect on an Asus U56? [closed]

I have an ASUS U56. I could connect to internet without delay or problems in Ubuntu 11.04. Now, running Ubuntu 11.10, I have not been able to connect. I can see the network and the computer tries to connect, but never makes the connection. I have been trying to fix this problem since the release date of 11.10. I had to install the older kernel 2.6 to get the wifi to work. "Always available offline" option missing on one network drive in Windows 7

My network setup at home has 2 network storage devices on the network. The one is for media content on a Popcorn Hour A-110 and the other is a D-Link DNS-320 in RAID 1 configuration for business files. When I access these network drives and right click a folder the following context menu appears for the A-110 device, but not for the D-link. I have tested this in both Windows 7 32bit and Windows Vista 64bit. In both instances the "Always available offline" option is only available for the A-110 storage device, and not for the D-link. How do I get this option for the D-link? Any advice or ideas are welcome.

Can I ping via an arbitrary interface of a DD-WRT system?

There's a Linksys WRT54GL router with DD-WRT firmware (v23SP2). The network has a simple dual-WAN configuration (standby mode, switching by a script): ~ # ip route 192.168.3.0/24 dev br0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.3.1 192.168.2.0/24 dev vlan2 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.2.2 192.168.1.0/24 dev vlan1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.67 127.0.0.0/8 dev lo scope link default via 192.168.2.1 dev vlan2 I'm trying to ping a certain server arbitrary via vlan1 or vlan2. What I tried, as suggested here: ping -I vlan2 <address> ping 192.168.2.1 <address> In both cases ping simply exits with no error messages. Also, ping ignores many other parameters, again, by exiting silently. I failed to find any references that DD-WRT has a limited version of ping whatsoever. I also don't think it can be a permissions issue as mentioned here since the only user with DD-WRT is root. What's wrong?

There's IP but can't reach gateway

I have just installed ubuntu 12.04 on my new laptop, and brought it back to home, but I found the wireless network does not work. Strangely, it has the correct ip, but can't connect to the gateway. ifconfig gives ip 192.168.64.36, with broadcast 192.168.79.255 and mask 255.255.240.0, this are all correct, the gateway is at 192.168.64.1 cat /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 192.168.64.1 nameserver 127.0.0.1 which i think it's also right. but when I ping 192.168.64.1, all packages are lost. Please help me with this, I really do not know what happened to my network settings. If I have the below sudoers entry usera ALL=(userb) NOPASSWD: /home/userc/bin/executable-file usera ALL=(userb) NOPASSWD: /home/userc/bin/link-to-another-executable-file When I log-on as usera and try running the below commands, it works sudo -u userb /home/userc/bin/executable-file but NOT the one below. sudo -u userb /home/userc/bin/link-to-another-executable-file Sorry, user usera is not allowed to execute '/home/userc/bin/link-to-another-executable-file' as userb on hostname. Any ideas?

Windows Azure AppFabric SDK - June CTP - Download issues

Microsoft has announced availability of the June CTP for Windows Azure AppFabric. See http://blogs.msdn.com/b/appfabric/archive/2011/06/20/announcing-the-windows-azure-appfabric-june-ctp.aspx. This is an exciting release and provides greater insight into where the AppFabric team is heading in terms of developer and management tooling. Microsoft is offering space in the cloud to experiment with the CTP, but this is limited, so register early to get a namespace! You can download the SDK for the June CTP. However, we ran into a lot of trouble trying to do this today. Whenever we followed the link, we ended up on the page for the May CTP. We found what appeared to be a workaround which we were able to repeat on another box (and which I reported on Connect), but then a few minutes later I couldn't repeat it. Just now, the given link appears to be working every time in IE, but not in Firefox! Frankly, the behaviour seems random! It looks like the same URL points to two different pages, and I suspect that which page you end up on is hit and miss. The link to the download page is http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17691. If you end up on the wrong page, try again later and you may get to the right place. ubuntu nic card issue

I am trying to install NIC r8168 and it shows everything installed ok. It is a brand new NIC and the lights wont come on when I plug in a ethernet. The NIC is that is not working is eth0. Why does it show the r8168 driver being used by 0? I can't connect to the Internet in 11.10. I tried switching my wifi card to another USB slot but nothing changed. Windows doesn't get access to internet though linux easily does

We have a very interesting problem. The network is configured in this way: internet is connected to Trendnet switch TS DHCP server at 192.168.0.1 running on Ubuntu (S) is connected to internet switch DNS is also configured on 192.168.0.1 on S D-Link Wi-Fi boosters are connected to switch TS PCs use D-Link PCI-E Wi-Fi cards to get access to network PCs have both Ubuntu and Windows 7 There are about 40 PCs. When PC is booted to Ubuntu it easily gets access to internet. But when it's booted to Windows 7, it gets a valid IP-address, but doesn't get access to internet. The address, mask, DNS, GW-address are totally the same as when it's booted under Ubuntu. The S is reacheble and pingable. Sometimes when we are lucky the PC gets access to Internet, but after rebooting it can lose it. When PC under Windows has access, it has totally the same settings as when it doesn't. What can be done? UPDATE I shared a dropbox with 2 captures of traffic. Ping.pcap is a capture of pinging 8.8.8.8. And google-browser.pcap is a capture of opening a google.com in a browser, both of them are in tcpdump formats and made by Wireshark on Win PC. The MAC of Win PC ends on b7:63 and IP is 192.168.0.130. I have two routers(A,B).the A connect to internet with IP:192.168.1.1 The openwrt router B connect the lan of A by bridge with static IP:192.168.1.111. I am learning to use iptables to control the devices connected to B(wlan) . I use my phone to connect wifi of B,the phone's IP is IP:192.168.1.100.it can surf the internet normally. Bluetooth mouse no longer paired after resuming from suspend since upgrading to 13.10

Since upgrading to 13.10 from 13.04 my mouse no longer connects via bluetooth. In settings it states that the mouse is not paired. Restarting bluetooth with sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart does not help. Restarting the computer does fix the problem if bluetooth is restarted also with the previously mentioned command, but this is not ideal. The mouse worked fine prior to updating to 13.10. The computer is a ThinkPad X230 with a Broadcom 'BCM20702A0' bluetooth module (I think). Can I ping via an arbitrary interface of a DD-WRT system? [migrated]

There's a Linksys WRT54GL router with DD-WRT firmware (v23SP2). The network has a simple dual-WAN configuration (standby mode, switching by a script): ~ # ip route 192.168.3.0/24 dev br0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.3.1 192.168.2.0/24 dev vlan2 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.2.2 192.168.1.0/24 dev vlan1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.67 127.0.0.0/8 dev lo scope link default via 192.168.2.1 dev vlan2 I'm trying to ping a certain server arbitrary via vlan1 or vlan2. What I tried, as suggested here: ping -I vlan2 <address> ping 192.168.2.1 <address> In both cases ping simply exits with no error messages. Also, ping ignores many other parameters, again, by exiting silently. I failed to find any references that DD-WRT has a limited version of ping whatsoever. I also don't think it can be a permissions issue as mentioned here since the only user with DD-WRT is root. What's wrong?

arp "who-has tell" on cloned machine

I have a urgent problem to solve today, but I'm lost. Please help. I've cloned a Virtual Machine hosted on VM Ware ESXi 4.1 The OS is now Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS, but at the time of cloning it was 10.04 LTS. I fixed the MAC address manually inside /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. It is a known problem on Ubuntu. I had to remove the old MAC address and set the new one as eth0. Everything seems to work fine, except ARP. My provider OVH sent me a warning to resolve it today (this is the second day) or they will block my IP! The log contains many lines like this: Tue Jun 5 01:04:29 2012 : arp who-has 178.32.136.212 tell 178.32.136.224 where .224 is the cloned server that is causing problems, and .212 is the cloned one. arp -na returns: ? (178.33.230.254) at 00:07:b4:00:00:02 [ether] on eth0 ? (178.32.136.212) at 00:50:56:09:8e:f1 [ether] on eth0 The first IP is the ESXi machine. The second one should not be there. I'm not an expert and I don't know what else to do to fix this problem. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks. Route web traffic through a separate iterface

Is it possible to use Google Docs Viewer to view files already in Google Docs?

The title is a little confusing. I'll elaborate. As far as I can tell, the Google Docs Viewer tool accepts a link to a raw document file (e.g. .doc, .pdf, et. al.), and renders its contents in the browser. For example, this url to a pdf http://research.google.com/archive/bigtable-osdi06.pdf when passed to Viewer, returns this link: http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fresearch.google.com%2Farchive%2Fbigtable-osdi06.pdf What I'm trying to achieve is, use the Viewer to view a document already hosted in Google Docs (i.e. no longer a raw document file). When passing a link to a Google Docs document to the Viewer, the result is not as expected. It renders the link's HTML source instead of the document's contents. The reason I want to do this is that I want to be able to use the "embed" feature of Viewer to view Google Docs documents. Does Google Docs have a "link to embeddable view" feature? P.S. Here is a sample snippet to an embedded document.
