In this question, one of the Cassandra committers (the über helpful jbellis) says that Cassandra rows can be very large, and that column slicing operations are faster than row slices, hence my question: Is the row size still limited by available memory?

• When a tech document states that something is IP-Aware was does that specifically mean?

  I need a class room definition for IP-aware for a research assignment. I.E. something that would be used, lets say, in a dictionary. Does anyone know or provide me with a link to a defintiion, I am having no luck with searches. Are IP-Aware devices only devices that can read/find/make decisions based on IP addresses. For example a router would be one, but a network printer would not?

  Hi, I've done a far bit of research on this via Google and there seems to be quite a few ways of possibly doing this. I'm looking to incrementally backup new and updated files in two directories on my Plesk run Centos 5.2 server: /backups and /var/www/vhosts (preferable only httdocs within each vhost) Has anyone got some great feedback from using the various solutions - seems to be various Java, Perl and Ruby based solutions out there.   I was wondering where I can find some information how IE8 actually handles xml header... for example how is handling <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> different to <?xml version="1.0"?>. • Can I pass a pointer to a superclass, but create a copy of the child?

  I have a function that takes a pointer to a superclass and performs operations on it. However, at some point, the function must make a deep copy of the inputted object. Is there any way I can perform such a copy? It occurred to me to make the function a template function and simply have the user pass the type, but I hold out hope that C++ offers a more elegant solution.

  Hi stackies, I'm programmatically putting various TextViews into a LinearLayout with a horizontal orientation. After 2h of research I couldn't find out how to tell Android not to squeeze all the TextViews in one line but instead to "float" non-fitting TextViews into the next line. • svn from console - how to save password?

  Hi all, I was wondering if there is a way to save my svn password when doing svn operations from the console. The console is the only option that I have. When I try to do any svn action "eg svn commmit," it prompts for the account password every time. Is there a way to save this password somehow so that I don't have to retype it every time? Thanks.
