• The width of a list that contains an embedded matrix grows unexpectedly

  I have a report in reporting services 2005 that includes a list with an embedded matrix and am attempting to put a border on the list, however, when I run the report in visual studio the matrix is growing past the end of the page and therefore the boarder is growing with it causing it to grow into the second page. It appears that there was supposedly a fix for this in reporting services 2000 service pack 1 but I am still experianceing the issue in 2005. The list has a details group that limits the records on a row to 4 using the following expression: =ceiling(rownumber("list1")/4), the matrix has a column group that should recycle those based on the rownumber determined by the list using the following expression: =rowNumber("list1_Details_Group") I have also attempted to put the list in a rectangle in hopes to stop the matrix from growing to no avail. How do I effectivly stop the matrix form growing past the space allowed by the list control?

  I have a web application that dynamically loads assemblies based on database configuration entries to perform certain actions (dynamic plugin style architecture). The calls to the objects are in a Factory Pattern implementation, and the object is cached (in a static dictionary< within the Factory) as the calls can be made many thousands of times in a minute. The calls to this factory are made from both the main web application and a number of webservices, some in different assemblies/projects. When I need to update one of these DLLs, I have to recycle IIS to get the DLL released. As this has an impact on another application on the server, I wanted to know if there was a way I could release the DLL without restarting IIS?

  Are there any recommendations on when to use Application settings (not per user settings) vs. .config file <appsettings>? Update Looking to understand some of the finer and important differences because they're both effectively key/value stores. For example, I know modifying appsettings in web.config will recycle the web application. Settings have been in .NET for a while now and I haven't bothered to look at them - maybe one is somewhat redundant, or using both at the same time doesn't make sense... that's the kind of detail I'm looking to understand and the reasons.

Today, when I opened SQL Server Management Studio, I was surprised the database is not in the list of the databases! I don't know what's the reason. I searched in the server files but I can't find the database and also in the recycle bin. I put my database in C:\db\myWeb.mdf and suddenly it's been removed! Can anyone tell me how to recover the database?

  I am working in an android application and I want to Clear my Bitmap data. The scenario is that I am taking a screen capture of an Widget(Imageview) and I am storing it in a Bitmap. This action comes in a Button click. SO after some time I get a Memory error. So I want to clear the values in the bitmap. • Bitmap size exceeds VM budget after second load

  This is driving me crazy. I have a game which has a bitmap as the background, this is big so I scale it down and this works fine. However when I navigate to another activity and then reload the game screen it crashes on drawing the background. I am calling recycle on all the bitmaps and setting them to null on onDestroy() but this doesn't help. Any ideas and if not how can I debug the memory to see at which step its growing. I looked at getting the heap but nothing of any size is on there really. Thanks.

• How do you keep the value of global variables (namely a struct variable) between postbacks?

  I'm new to this and have already searched for this with not much luck :( Lets say I have defined a struct array globally and filled the array with data on an Ajax ModalPopupExtender. I then have a ddl_SelectedIndexChanged event that does a postback and seems to recycle my array. Is there a way to fire the ddl_SelectedIndexChanged event to perform some code without doing a postback? Or is there an easy way to make the array of type struct retain it's values? • Setting up Tomcat6 properly in Ubuntu 10.04

  We have a Tomcat6 instance running on Ubuntu 10.04LTS. Our test box was just a Windows machine running Tomcat6. Both machines (Linux and Windows) have 1GB of ram. Via the Tomcat configuration tool in windows, I was able to set the min/max/permgen sizes of the JVM. Those were set to 256/512/128 respectively. Now on the Ubuntu box, I've tried setting the JVM options in several different places including: Adding JAVA_OPTS & CATALINA_OPTS in /etc/environment Adding JAVA_OPTS in $CATALINA_HOME/bin/catalina.sh Creating setenv.sh and adding JAVA_OPTS in $CATALINA_HOME/bin Adding JAVA_OPTS directly to /etc/init.d/tomcat6 Un-commenting the JAVA_OPTS and modifying it in /etc/default/tomcat6 Nearly all of those methods did not work, except for modifying /etc/init.d/tomcat6 directly (and possibly the /etc/default/tomcat6 change, but I just did that). However, my understanding is that when you change these settings, only one JVM should be used for the entire tomcat6 instance, and that memory is shared among the applications. On our windows box, tomcat6 is run as a service, and appears to behave this way. However, when I look at htop on the linux box, there are 20+ tomcat6 instances (I have an app that triggers internal jobs every X seconds using chron, so maybe these are threads? Or are they actual instances) all with those memory settings. The app runs fine for a bit, but eventually ends up locking up. I'm guessing each of these apps thinks it has 512m to work with and never GC's and then locks tomcat up completely. What is the proper way to set all of this up?

  I've got Django 1.0.2 installed on Ubuntu 9.04. I'd like to upgrade Django, because I have an app that needs Django 1.1 or greater. I tried using pip to do the upgrade, but got the following: $ sudo pip install Django==1.1 Downloading/unpacking Django==1.1 Downloading Django-1.1.tar.gz (5.6Mb): 5.6Mb downloaded Running setup.py egg_info for package Django Installing collected packages: Django Found existing installation: Django 1.0.2-final Not uninstalling Django at /var/lib/python-support/python2.6, outside environment /usr Running setup.py install for Django changing mode of build/scripts-2.6/django-admin.py from 644 to 755 changing mode of /usr/local/bin/django-admin.py to 755 Successfully installed Django It seems like it worked, but it refuses to remove the original Django 1.02, and sure enough: $ pip freeze | grep -i django Django==1.0.2-final django-debug-toolbar==0.8.3 django-sphinx==2.2.3 $ /usr/local/bin/django-admin.py --version 1.0.2 final The problem, apparently, is that pip won't uninstall files outside of /usr. I'd like to remove the existing Django files manually, but I have no idea how to do that, because I'm unfamiliar with how Python packages are laid out in Ubuntu. It looks pretty complicated. The site-packages directory is: $ python -c "from distutils.sysconfig import get_python_lib; print get_python_lib()" /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages However, that's not where the django files live: $ ls -ld /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/[Dd]jango* ls: cannot access /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/[Dd]jango*: No such file or directory There's a /var/lib/python-support/python2.6/django directory, and the __init__.py file in that directory points to /usr/share/python-support/python-django/django/__init__.py. Clearly, pip is able to figure out where the files live. Is there any way to retrieve the list of files associated with the django package so I can just delete them manually?

• Pecl complies .so extensions for OSX built-in PHP and not MAMP

  I've installed the sphinx binaries and libraries and am now trying to install the PECL sphinx module. My system is running OS X 10.6 with MAMP 1.8.2 installed. I try to install sphinx using the following command: sudo pecl install sphinx The PECL command outputs the following: running: phpize Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20090626 Zend Module Api No: 20090626 Zend Extension Api No: 220090626 The versions above don't match the versions listed when doing a phpinfo(). It seems that PECL is trying to complie against the built-in version of PHP. If I ignore the errors and continue the it will successfully compile and place the sphinx.so file in: /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/sphinx.so when in fact it should be: /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/ I've tried copying the sphinx.so file to the MAMP extensions dir but when I restart apache PHP displays the following warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/sphinx.so I think this is because MAMP is 32bit and the built-in PHP is 64bit so PECL complies for 64bit. I might be completely wrong but I did read this when I goggled on the topic. Does anyone know how to get PECL to map to the MAMP version of PHP instead of the built-in version?

  Hi, after installing and starting apache2 i can't open the website and got the error "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server." I tried some different options in the httpd.conf, but nothing helped me solving this problem. All permissions for every directory are "drwxr-xr-x". The directory /www contains a file names index.html with the same permissions. Please do not wonder, the time in the errorlog is not correctly. • Adding an user to samba

  I'm trying to setup some samba shares in my home network on an Ubuntu 12.04 machine. Everything works fine for my user account (max) but I can not add any new user. Every time I try to add new user they can not use the shares. It's likely that the error is very basic to the concept of samba but please don't just tell me to read the docs. I've been trying that for about 2 weeks now. I've set up the server with my user max who can mount transfer and the share max. Than I added the user simon with sudo adduser --no-create-home --disabled-login --shell /bin/false simon because the user should not be able to ssh into the machine. I did an sudo smbpasswd -a simon and set an (samba) password for simon and added an share for simon. I also added simon to transferusers to give him access to the share transfer.   I keep receiving the following error when trying to run MikTeX 2.8 or Visual Studio 2008 on 64-Bit Windows Vista. It's particularly odd because both programs were working problem free until a few days ago. The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail. Opening the Application log provides the following information: Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.8\miktex\bin\texworks.exe".   I have a server with 10 ip's that I want to give access to some friends via authentication but I'm stuck on squid's config file. Let's say I have these ip's available on my server: 212.77.23.10 212.77.1.10 68.44.82.112 And I want to allocate each one of them to a different user like so: 212.77.23.10 goes to user manilodisan using password 123456 212.77.1.10 goes to user manilodisan1 using password 123456 68.44.82.112 goes to user manilodisan2 using password 123456 I managed to add the passwords and authentication works ok but how do I do to restrict one user to one of the available ip's? I have a basic setup from different bits I found over the internet but nothing seems to work.   I'm running supervisord on my CentOS 6 box like so, /usr/bin/supervisord -c /etc/supervisord.conf and when I launch supervisorctl all process status are fine, but if I try to reload using supervisorctl I get unix:///tmp/supervisor.sock no such file I'm using the same config file I've used successfully on other boxes, and im running everything as root. • PECL install error after upgrading to OSX 10.8

  I've just upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and PECL is no longer working (it's on a test drive so no drama, but I'd like to get it working so I can upgrade the OS on my shiny new SSD as well). I'm using the native PHP installation, no macports/homebrew or anything like that. Running sudo pecl install uploadprogress (for example) produces the following terminal output: downloading uploadprogress-1.0.3.1.tgz ... Starting to download uploadprogress-1.0.3.1.tgz (9,040 bytes) .....done: 9,040 bytes 4 source files, building running: phpize grep: /usr/include/php/main/php.h: No such file or directory grep: /usr/include/php/Zend/zend_modules.h: No such file or directory grep: /usr/include/php/Zend/zend_extensions.h: No such file or directory Configuring for: PHP Api Version: Zend Module Api No: Zend Extension Api No: autom4te: need GNU m4 1.4 or later: /usr/bin/m4 ERROR: `phpize' failed I'm guessing the problem is the 3 grep lines. I've found several threads that suggest this is caused by XCode not being installed...but XCode is installed, and updated to the latest version (4.4). All the relevant symlinks to /Developer/usr/bin/* also exist as they should. m4 is currently at version: m4 (GNU M4) 1.4.13, so even though the output above contains a line pertaining to it, I don't think that can be the problem. I'm sure it's just a simple issue, anyone got any clues?
