  I am trying to use CoreData to populate a UITableView. I have been using the developer "Locations" project, and I think I have everything correct. But, now I am getting the following error when I build: request for member 'tableView' in something not a structure or union Why would it be confused about tableView? I am using it many times in the methods.   Hello, DateTimeFormatter fmt = DateTimeFormat.forStyle('SS').withLocale(locale) DateTime dt = fmt.parseDateTime("11/4/03 8:14 PM"); the above statement will parse the string correctly, and save as DateTime (Joda Time). Now how to represent the beginning of a day. The below fails with DateTime dt = fmt.parseDateTime("11/4/03 00:01 AM"); Cannot parse "11/4/03 00:01 AM": Value 0 for clockhourOfHalfday must be in the range [1,12] I'm obviously confused with the standards, like what is the short representation of the beginning of a day. thanks.

  Hi there, When creating a table in SQLite3, I get confused when confronted with all the possible datatypes which imply similar contents, so could anyone tell me the difference between the following data-types? INT, INTEGER, SMALLINT, TINYINT DEC, DECIMAL LONGCHAR, LONGVARCHAR DATETIME, SMALLDATETIME Is there some documentation somewhere which lists the min./max. capacities of the various data-types? For example, I guess smallint holds a larger maximum value than tinyint, but a smaller value than integer, but I have no idea of what these capacities are. Any help would be appreciated.   Hi guys, I'm reasonably new to JEE, so this might be stupid.. bear with me pls :D I would like to inject a stateless session bean into a message-driven bean. Basically, the MDB gets a JMS message, then uses a session bean to perform the work. The session bean holds the business logic. Here's my Session Bean: @Stateless public class TestBean implements TestBeanRemote { public void doSomething() { // business logic goes here } } The matching interface: @Remote public interface TestBeanRemote { public void doSomething(); } Here's my MDB: @MessageDriven(mappedName = "jms/mvs.TestController", activationConfig = { @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "acknowledgeMode", propertyValue = "Auto-acknowledge"), @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationType", propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue") }) public class TestController implements MessageListener { @EJB private TestBean testBean; public TestController() { } public void onMessage(Message message) { testBean.doSomething(); } } So far, not rocket science, right? • C++ Formatting like visual studio c# formatting

  I like the way Visual studio (2008) format C# code; unfortunately it seems it doesn't behave in the same way when writing C++ code. For example, when I write a code in this way: class Test { public: int x; Test() {this->x=20;} ~Test(){} }; in C# (ok this is C++ but you can understand what I mean), this part: Test() {this->x=20;} Will become Test() { this->x=20; } This is obviusly a stupid example, but there are a lot of things where putting brackets in correct position, indenting code and other things with my own hands becomes boring. I can obviusly change editor if you suggest me a good one for C++ code, I would like to find something with these features: Intellisense (like vs, at least similiar) Custom class coloring (in c# they are cyan, why are they black in c++?) Wordwrap (possibly) Documentation when you mouse over a method/variable Auto formatting (when you close a bracket like "}" in c# you'll get everything well formatted) obviusly I can find other features, but this is what is in my mind at the moment. • Using Qt to read and parse html files with QWebKit?

  I would like to read and parse certain elements of html files but I'm not interested in rendering it in any way. Basically I would like to go through all my div tags and get some of its style attributes. • How do uppercase and lowercase letters differ by only one bit?

  I have found one example in Data and Communication Networking book written by Behrouza Forouzan regarding upper- and lowercase letters which differ by only one bit in the 7 bit code. For example, character A is 1000001 (0x41) and character a is 1100001 (0x61).The difference is in bit 6, which is 0 in uppercase letters and 1 in lowercase letters. If we know the code for one case, we can easily find the code for the other by adding or subtracting 32 in decimal, or we can just flip the sixth bit. What does all this mean? I have found myself very confused with all these things. Could someone provide examples of how these things really work out?

• Trouble with data not saving with bindings and shared NSUserDefaults in IB

  I'm having a bit of a strange issue that I can't quite figure out. I'm somewhat of a n00b to Interface Builder. What I am trying to do seems like it should be simple, but it's not working for some reason. In interface builder I have a preferences window with a simple NSTextField. I have set the value binding to the Shared User Defaults Controller with the controller key "values" and model key "test". I build/run my app and open the preferences window, type some random value into said text field, close the window. Command-Q the app. Then in a shell i do a "defaults read com.xxx.yyy" for my app and the key and value are nowhere to be found. That being said, it seems like the next time I fire up the app and change the value it works but only if I switch focus off of the NSTextField before closing the window. In the documentation for NSUserDefaults it says that the shared controller saves values immediately, am I missing something stupid here? Thanks for any help.

  Hello guys; I have a conceptual question... I am making an Intranet application (Web platform) for a company. I have a SQL Server DB with these tables: Users (userID, userName, userPass, roleID) Roles (roleID, roleName) Pages (pageID, pageURL) RolesXPages(pageID, roleID) How is the best way to create a structure to store all this information while the user navigates the site, I mean, on the thread I should be able to check his role, his pages (the ones he can access) I have been reading and there is a lot of stuff there where Im confused, I saw the MembershipProvider, IPrincipal, IIdentity, etc classes but Im not sure what should be the best one for me. Any thoughts... Thanks in advance! Edit: Everytime gets more confusing... I just want to handle those structures at runtime and be able to mantain state during page callbacks or changing pages...

• C++0x and the Lack of Polymorphic Lambdas - Why?

  I've been reviewing the draft version of the upcoming C++0x standard. Specifically the section on lambdas, and am confused as to the reasoning for not introducing polymorphic lambdas. I had hoped we could use code such as the following: template<typename Container> void foo(Container c) { for_each(c.begin(),c.end(),[](T& t) { ++t; }); } What were the reasons: Was it the committee ran out of time? That polymorphic lambdas are too hard to implement? Or perhaps that they are seen as not being needed by the PTB?

• Anti-aliased text on HTML5's canvas element

  I'm a bit confused with the way the canvas element anti-aliases text and am hoping you all can help. In the following screenshot the top "Quick Brown Fox" is an H1 element and the bottom one is a canvas element with text rendered on it. On the bottom you can see both "F"s placed side by side and zoomed in. • Best approch for creating Base control

  Hi, I am looking for a solution for this scenario - I need to implement a feature to allow user to add various controls to canvas(WPF, custom and third party ) and then select any one of them and modify some properties in property grid(changes needs to be reflected in UI). I don't want to expose all the properties of any control only some of them(relevant to end user); apart from this there are some properties which will be common for all controls e.g. Title, Value(Value will be bound to some property of a control, say Text of TextBox and Content of Label) etc. I am thinking of putting all the common proeprties at one place. Things I am confused aout - How to create such base class, whether to use UserControl or Custom Control for this? How will the binding work between Control, base class proeprties and PropertyGrid? What type of object will I expose to property grid? Any idea on what approch should be followed in this case, any kind of input will really be helpful.

• Avoiding symbol capture when using macros to generate functions (or other macros)

  I'm a bit confused as to exactly when symbol capture will occur with clojure macros. Suppose that I have a macro which defines a function from keywords. In this trivial example, (defmacro foo [keywd1 keywd2] `(defn ~(symbol (name keywd1)) [~(symbol (name keywd2))] (* 2 ~(symbol (name keywd2))))) I call (foo :bar :baz), and this gets expanded into (defn bar [baz] (* 2 baz)). So now the question -- can this lead to symbol capture? If so, under what circumstances? I know that it's preferred to use gensym (e.g. bar#) to prevent symbol capture, but in some cases (not many, but still) I'd like to have a pretty macro-expansion, without the auto-generated symbols. Bonus question: does the answer change if we are considering a macro that creates macros?

• How does the same origin policy apply to IP addresses

  I have a server on our company intranet that runs JBoss. I want to send API calls to this server from my machine, also on the intranet, and get the resulting XML responses using JQuery. I read the entry on Wikipedia but am confused how that applies to my situation, since our machines only have IP addresses, not domain names. I have server URL: 10.2.200.3:8001/serviceroot/service client IP address: 10.2.201.217 My questions are: As far as I understand these are different domains, right? So I have to use a proxy to issue JQuery.ajax calls to the server If I want to avoid doing (2), can I install Apache on the server and server the page with JS code form there? But then the JS will be from 10.2.200.3 and the server is at 10.2.200.3:8001. Aren't these considered different domains according to policy? Thanks!

  Hi, Is there any best practice when working with AST:s? I have a parsed expression AST. ConstantExpression, BinaryExpression etc. I want to populate a GUI-dialog with information from the AST, and it's here where I get kinda confused because my code gets pretty messy. Example: expression = "Var1 > 10 AND Var2 < 20" I want to populate two textboxes with value 10 resp. 20 from the AST. What I'm doing now is a recursive method that checks for correct child expression-types (with .Net Is-operator) and acts accordingly and the code is really "smelly" :) Is there any design pattern, like Visitor or such, that makes this somewhat easier/more readable/maintainable ?

• Track "commands" send to WPF window by touchpad (Bamboo)

  Hi, I just bought a touchpad wich allows drawing and using multitouch. The api is not supported fully by windows 7, so I have to rely on the build in config dialog. The basic features are working, so if I draw something in my WPF tool, and use both fingers to do a right click, I can e.g. change the color. What I want to do now is assign other functions to special features in WPF. Does anybody know how to find out in what way the pad communicates with the app? It works e.g. in Firefox to scroll, like it should (shown on this photo). But I do not know how to hookup the scroll event, I tried a Scrollviewer (which ignores my scroll attempts) and I also hooked up an event with the keypressed, but it does not fire (I assume the pad does not "press a key" but somehow sends the "scroll" command direclty. How can I catch that command in WPF? Thanks a lot, Chris [EDIT] I got the scroll to work, but only up and down, not left and right. It was just a stupid "listbox in scrollviewer" mistake. But still not sure about commands like ZOOM in (which is working even in paint).. Which API contains such things? [EDIT2] Funny, the zoom works in Firefox, the horizontal scrolling does not. But, in paint, the horizontal scrolling works...   Hi, I am trying to understand Linux Kernel implementation of linked list and hash table. A link to the implementation is here. I understood the linked list implementation. But i am little confused of why double pointers is being used in hlist (**pprev). Link for hlist is here. I understand that hlist is used in implementation of hash table since head of the list requires only one pointer and it saves space. Why cant it be done using single pointer (just *prev like the linked list)? Please help me.

• Using Sqlite3 with CakePHP

  Hello, I'm trying to run Sqlite3 with CakePHP. Yes, i know it's not officially supported, but this post here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1021980/cakephp-sqlite says it's possible. I've downloaded the new driver file "dbo_sqlite3.7.php" and put it in "cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo". Now I'm having trouble getting connected to the db. Things I'm confused on: Where should my database.sqlite file be kept What should my config file look like. Should I be referencing the full filename of the driver? Like 'driver' = 'dbo_sqlite3.7.php'? And can I use relative paths to the db file? Is there a difference in sqlite3 files and sqlite2 files by themselves, or is it just the way that you handle the files that makes the difference? Thank you for your help. I'm new to cake and I'm excited about learning more.

As a start I am a bit confused, IntelliJ has created two folders for my GRails project: these reside in 1) C:\Documents and Settings\me\.grails\1.2.1\projects and 2) C:\Documents and Settings\me\IdeaProjects\ The 1) contains a plugins folder which contains directories and files of plugins I am using inside my project. • Mixing regular expression and other conditional expression in a bash if statement

  I can't get around this for quite sometime now. As I read along manuals and tutorials I'm getting more confused. I want an if statement with the following logic: if [ -n $drupal_version ] && [[ "$drupal_version" =~ DRUPAL-[6-9]-[1-9][1-9] ]]; then but I can't get it to work properly. When the script is evaluated using the "bash -x ... " script construct, works ok but when is run as a regular script my expression is not evaluated (eventhough the above condition should be met the else part is run). Could you provide any help?

• ASP.NET authentication login and logout with browser back button

  Hi, I am looking for a solution for user use the browser's back button to navigate to previous page once logged out. I have a web application build in asp.net and using a custom membership provider for authentication and authorization. Everything works fine except when the user click on the logout link to log out of the application and being redirect to a default cover page, if the use click on the BACK BUTTON on their browser, it will actually go back to where they were before and the data will still show up. Of course they can't do anything on that page, click on anything link they will be redirect to a login page again. But having those information display is making a lot users confused. i am just wondering if there is any way i can either clear the browser's history so use can't go BACK, or when they click on the back button and have them redirect to the login page. thanks
