• Changing Internet connection on ISA Server 2000

  Hi We are getting a new internet connection installed and will need to unplug the old one and connect this to our ISA Server 2000. Will this be a simple swap out job? We will be given a new ip, which i know i will have to enter into the external network card TCP/IP page. I will also be given the default gateway to enter. The ISP engineer said we may have to reset the ARP? cache, if we dont know how we will have to reset the ISA server? Has anyone any experience? The current connection is with the same ISP but it was owned by the business park were we are located and they linked up an ethernet port to what i assume is their own router. Hope you can help, i know that ISA 2000 is somewhat less easy to use than the newer versions.

  I'm using CwRsync to connect from my Windows development machine to a linux webserver : rsync -avuz -e ./ssh --exclude=".svn" /cygdrive/c/xampp/htdocs/project123/ [email protected]:/home/user123/public_html This syncs my development project directory nicely and fast to the server. But after doing this, all directory properties are reset to the local user 'user123' only, so the website is not available anymore. I need to manually reset those properties. Why is this happening, and how to prevent it? PS. coming from a Windows environment I'm having a really hard time understanding rsync. I copied the above command from some examples... just need to get this one small thing working too...

• How do I run a batch file async using PSExec?

  I have a batch file I run that, among other things, reset's the NICs in the machine. I have some watchdog software running on another machine that monitors the first one. I'd like to run this batch file using PSExec when it detects certain types of failures. The problem I'm having is that since the batch file reset's the NIC's it kills the connection PSExec has (I'm OK with that). The real issue is that when PSExec dies the batch file stops running (leaving the NIC's disabled). I've tried using the -i option with PSExec with no luck. Any ideas about basically just fire off the batch file and NOT have it stop when PSExec is disconnected?

  Clarification: I want __foo to be executed each time the PS1 string is presented in the terminal, not when the PS1 string is constructed (hence its being in quotes). __foo contains logic that examines the current directory, so its execution must be deferred. I'm trying to use different colours in my Bash PS1 string from within a Bash function: LIGHTRED="\033[1;31m" LIGHTGREEN="\033[1;32m" RESET="\033[m" __foo () { # Do some stuff and genereate a string to echo in different colours: echo -n '\['$1'\]firstcolour \['$2'\]secondcolour' } PS1='$(__foo '$LIGHTRED' '$LIGHTGREEN')\['$RESET'\] \$' Essentially I want __foo to generate part of the PS1 in a bunch of different colours. • Best way to reformat/recover in Windows when your CD key is no longer valid?

  I have a copy of Windows 7 Professional that I have downloaded from the MSDN e-academy (thanks to my school). Now, the problem is that these license keys are one-use only. If I need to reformat or do a factory reset, what is the best way for me to do so, without invalidating my license and screwing me out of an operating system? Edit: I would also like to know some information on the "restore to factory settings" option in Windows 7 recovery center. Does it do exactly as the name implies and starts you off as if you had just done a fresh install? If I had some kind of nasty trojan or virus, would it be able to survive through the factory reset? The recovery center also has an option for reformatting, though I don't think that it's an actual format - it just backs up your stuff into a Windows.old folder or something like that. Does that require a valid license key?

This is most amazing error that i have ever had, we write 100 CD, in these CDs we got one setup.exe file that autorun. in some of these CDs when I explore the cd the setup.exe file become the command prompt file and give me above error. and when I reset the system and put it in another pc it`s ok. if I reset the first pc the autorun.exe run. so I change it different computer, randomly get this problem. I am sure about the virus, because I checked on different pcs and with fully update definition so someone tell me what happen?

The issue is the PC loses connectivity for some reason, and I am forced to walk outside, around the house, into the basement, over a bunch of toys and weights and boxes, to push a button to reboot it. I would love to have it check itself every 5-10 minutes and auto reboot if it is unable to ping a given address/IP. Any ideas how to accomplish this?

• Server responses "bus error" to every command

  I have a linux machine dedicated to MySQL server with a pretty high load. Today I woke up and was terrified to see, that database server is down. I could connect to it via SSH, but it was responding with bus error to each and every command.   I've recently lost my window options, had to somehow manipulate my way to Xchat and ask some people how do I get it back (it was metacity --replace, and after I decided to stop the command and run it in background the X was completely useless so I had to do killall -u user). And that was after the internet connection stopped working for some reason (might've been the ISP) ..The thing is, after using linux a long time, I still get the feeling that on dire situations, I don't know the good tricks (stuff like metacity --replace) I feel like a really need like a "rescue" cheatsheet for things like "how to save the X no matter what without pressing reset" and "how to reset the system to "normal state"" "how to connect to the internet through the command line" "how to monitor what the X is doing" (using ubuntu linux 10.04 btw)

  I must admit that I feel rather foolish having to ask this. I recently switched ISPs, and the new one gave us a Ubee DVW3201B as our home gateway. I want to change the Administrator username/password from the defaults, but I've been having some difficulty. Every time, after I save the new username and password, I'm prompted to re-authenticate to the administration interface. It fails no matter what I try. I've tried using: New username / New password Default username / New password Default username / Default password None of the above works. This has happened twice now, with my only recourse after failure being to do a reset to factory defaults (press and hold the hard reset button for 10 seconds). Is there something I'm missing?

  For example when i want to write 1.1 in MS Word, the . is suddenly converted to ',' when i write the second 1. Here is a illustration of what happens: Notes: I am typing in Arabic and i want the numbers Arabic. When I am typing in English it is fined and everything is better than expected: The . remains . I tried to reset Word settings based on the all the ways that MSDN suggests. Now all the styles and options are set to default and all add-ons are removed. • Cisco 2950 Express Setup

  I've been donated a Cisco Catalyst 2950 Switch by the company I work for to have a play with. I've reset it back to Factory Defaults, but having an issue with getting to Express Setup. I've followed the Express Setup (And Factory Reset) guide as listed here: Catalyst 2950 Switch Getting Started Guide Everything goes fine, until I get to step 10, I enter 10.0.0.1 into the browser, but I just get a Error 324 response. • AD password not synchronising properly

  I have 600+ users in AD, but only one causes me trouble. The problem is I can reset his password from AD, he can then log in to his machine. After that he would like to change his password from Windows 7, and proceeds without errors. Logs out or locks the workstation but cannot access it again using either old or new password. So I have to reset it again and he can only use the one I provide for him. All our machines are in the same physical location in the same subnet. Functional level is 2003. I'm totally out of ideas. I could create him new user account, but I'd possibly like to know what causes this. I can only suspect some sort of synchronisation problems but other accounts work fine, and I don't know how to dig deeper into this. Thanks, Piotr

• Lost Linux root password - Recovery mode and init=/bin/bash fail

  I lost/forgot the root password to a server sitting beside me and am trying to reset it. I would rather not have to wipe and re-install or use a Live CD (server is running Ubuntu Server 12.04). What I've tried so far... 1) Boot into "Recovery mode" from Grub2 boot menu then drop into root shell prompt. I am prompted to "Give root password for maintenance". No-go. 2) Change the boot parameters for the main boot option to include "rw" and "init=/bin/bash". When I then boot with Ctrl-X, the screen goes black, and nothing happens (I've waited five minutes). init=/bin/sh and init=/bin/static-sh both do the same thing, while init=/sbin/init boots as normal. Is there anything else I can try to reset the root password? Thank you!

• dhcp client service won't start

  I have a Laptop with 2 network interfaces and neither will get an IP address through dhcp. I found out that the dhcp client service didn't start. Upon manually starting it gives the error 2: File not found. I have checked that the files were there (both svchost and dhcpcore .dll), the local service account has read access to the system32 folder, the path in the registry is also correct and I can access the file. I have tried to netsh winsock reset and ip reset all. I have even added the local service account to the administrators group. sfc /scannow also came up clean. I have no idea what else I can try. Any suggestions are welcome. (side note it's a windows 7 32 bit, atheros wlan, deinstalled avira before any of the other troubleshooting)

• Can not login Magento admin page after move to my localhost

  I just move my Magento store to my localhost environment for testing use, I also using Git to maintain code, but after I move all the files to my local environment, I can't login my admin page, but I can still see my frontend pages, and the git, the database, seems works well. When I type a wrong admin/password to my admin page, it still gives me "Invalid password". But when I enter the right one, it just refresh the page and stay at the login page, nothing happens. • Firewall blocks FTP PASV response

  I have an FTP server that supports passive server mode (using PASV command). This works fine with Windows XP. When I want to access this server from Windows Vista or Windows 7 with firewall enabled I experience an immediate connection shutdown. A reset packet is sent to the server, and the socket is signaled that the server has reset the connection (which is not true). The problem disappears when the firewall is disabled. Connections to other FTP servers work correctly. The difference is that the server's response to PASV does not enclose the address field with parentheses. This is legal as documented in RFC-959 and RFC-1132. How can I configure the firewall to stop this bad behavior?

• Why can't I access the WebUI of my DNS-323 NAS after a firmware upgrade?

  Hi Everyone, I just bought a D-Link DNS-323 NAS Enclosure, and have run into a problem. I read that the firmware that had shipped with (1.07) did not support 2TB drives, so I downloaded firmware 1.08. Turned on the device for thwe first time and went straight to the WebUI (everything looked/worked fine) Proceeded with the firmware update, completed successfully. Rebooted and I cannot access the WebUI. I can see the NAS connected via my router interface I can also ping the ip adress assigned, but I cannot access the WebUI or find it via D-Link easy search software. I have tried the factory reset button, but that does not seem to be doing anything, the square blue light just keeps flashing from the moment the unit is powered on, whether I press the reset button or not, and the symptoms remain the same... PS. I did/do not have any drives installed yet. Please help?
