  At Pass Summit 2011 a new project was announced. It’s a Microsoft SQL Azure Lab and its codename is Microsoft “Data Explorer”. According to the official blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataexplorer/), this new tool provides an innovative way to acquire new knowledge from the data that interest you. In a nutshell, Data Explorer allows you to combine data from multiple sources, to publish and share the result. In addition, you can generate data streams in the RESTful open format (Open Data Protocol), and they can then be used by other applications. Nonetheless we can still use Excel or PowerPivot to analyze the results. Sources can be varied: Excel spreadsheets, text files, databases, Windows Azure Marketplace, etc.. For those who are not familiar with this resource, I strongly suggest you to keep an eye on the data services available to the Marketplace: https://datamarket.azure.com/browse/Data To tell the truth, as I read the above blog post, I was tempted to think of the Data Explorer as a "SSIS on Azure" addressed to the Power User. In fact, reading the response from Tim Mallalieu (Group Program Manager of Data Explorer) to the comment made to his post, I had a positive response to my first impression: “…we originally thinking of ourselves as Self-Service ETL. As we talked to more folks and started partnering with other teams we realized that would be an area that we can add value but that there were more opportunities emerging.” The typical operations of the ETL phase ( processing and organization of data in different formats) can be obtained thanks to Data Explorer Mashup. My question is that word does not allow more that 200 characters in the prompt box wherein the user types in the questions. Is there a way I can increase its maxlength.   I have a huge plain text document, about 700kb which is very big for plain texts and I need to format it on cloud converting it to HTML, but the only things that I need to replace, format to HTML so it can be displayed by the browser, are bold and italic. For bold at the plain text they are like this: Not on bold... **bold text here** not bold here And italic like this: Not italic... *italic text* no italic Just like StackOverflow does for their formatting, but the problem is that I need to make it a lot faster, since the text is so big... One of my ideas was to add a page slide, so I the script just need to format some part of the text, not it all, then after the user changes the page the script would be called again, but the problem is how I can make the code for this all?

• how to turn off percentage sign in .net/wpf?

  I would like my WPF application to display all percentages without % sign. For example 20% would be displayed as "20" but i still want to use the standard formatting for percentages (so i get the benefit of string formatter to multiply it by 100 for me) in other words, how do i get string.Format("0.00%", 0.2) to output "20" but not "20%"? Is it possible to globally define PercentSymbol as empty string for the entire application? In particular i am using ContentStringFormat in my WPF application to format the numbers and percentages. Maybe i can do it directly in WPF.

• Inconsistent email formatting with inline css created using Javamail

  Okay, so I have a program that sends an email when it is finished running. I use inline css to format the email. This was working up until yesterday however now I am seeing different formats depending on which email account I view the email in. • wxPython formatting questions

  I have an app I was working on to learn more about wxPython( I have been primarily been a scripter ). I forgot about it now I am opening it back up. It's a screen scraper, and I have it working almost the way I want it, going to build a regex parser to strip out the links in every scrape that I don't need. The questions I have are this. In it current state, if I check more than one site, it goes out and scrapes, and returns it in separate windows, the for:each section in the Clicked function. I want to put them in a frame, in the window, altogether. I also want to know if I can take the list they are read into and send it to a checklist, so someone could check off separate items, I want to build a save function and keep certain ones. In regards to a save function, I want to keep saved checks, are there calls to the widgets to save their states? I know it's a lot, but thanks for the help.

• Is there a way to visualize records stored in an iPhone app via Core Data?

I'm using Core Data for the first time, and I'd like to be able to easily inspect the records that are stored by the app on the device. I imagine that Core Data is by default backed by SQLite on the iPhone, so this question might be as simple as asking: "What's the easiest way to extract the SQLite database for an app installed by Xcode without jailbreaking it?"   Try this: unsigned long long int N; = 23229877463LL; NSString* s = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"dec:%qi, hex:%qX",N,N]; NSLog(@"output: %@",s); output: dec:23229877460, hex:689BCCD400000005 What's up with the 00000005??? In mySQL, hex(23229877460) = 5689BCCD4. Also, every other language seems to do this correctly. A 16 digit long hex is like 4 gazillion (16^16), right? How can I get objective-c to format hex numbers that other languages can understand?
