• Find a control by String from asp.net Web service

  Well since it seems relatively difficult to send the object of a WebControl over JSON using jquery.ajax() I've decided to send the name of the control as a string because I know how to do that. Then I promptly realized that, from a web service, I don't actually know how to search for a control by ID name. Since its a service I can't seem to get Control.FindControl() to work so does anyone have ideas or suggestions? All I'm trying to do is call a databind() on my radcombobox. Thanks in advance! For any of you that knows anything about asp.net/rad controls - I'm basically updating a database and want the radcombobox to be in sync with that database again after adding something, before I autoselect what was just added. Other than databind do i have to call anything to refresh that list? Thanks again!

  i install ubuntu server 10.04, have 64 Gb VHD. And want to separate partitions in this mode: /dev/xvda0 p on swap (2 Gb) /dev/xvda1a0 e on /boot (128 Mb) /dev/xvda1a1 e on / type ffs (local) /dev/xvda1a2 e on /usr type ffs (local, nodev) /dev/xvda1a3 e on /tmp type ffs (local, nodev) /dev/xvda1a4 e on /var/log type ffs (local, nodev) /dev/xvda1a5 e on /var type ffs (local, nodev, nosuid) /dev/xvda1a6 e on /home type ffs (local, nodev, nosuid, with quotas) /dev/xvda2 p on /new (local, nodev, nosuid, noexec) with rest of space ~50Gb. But i'ma stuck, and don't know what size to give to each folder. Also i want to encrypt partitions. Thank you for any tips. EDIT: System need minimum size, here will be installed about 10 apps like ufw, apache,mysql, chkrootkit and so on.

  Hi! In my UITableView I have custom cells. My UITableView have a repeatable background myTableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithPatternImage: [UIImage imageNamed: @"backg.png"]]; I set my cells to have their background (clear); UIView *backView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero] autorelease]; backView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; cell.backgroundView = backView; This makes the cell have the same background as the TableView.. Problem is; That seems that every cell loads myTableView.backgroundColor once again. And the background are not being repeatble as it should. I want to have the cells totally with no background at all, instead they loads up myTableView.backgroundColor once again. Here is one example. Can anyone help me?

  I am writing an application that I need to run at incredibly low speeds. The application creates and destroys memory in creative ways throughout its run, and it works just fine. I am wondering what compiler optimizations occur so I can try to build to that. One trick off hand is that the CLR handles arrays much faster than lists, so if you need to handle a ton of elements in a List, you may be better off calling ToArray() and handling it rather than calling ElementAt() again and again. I am wondering if there is any sort of comprehensive list for this kind of thing, or maybe the SO community can create one :-)

• Upgrade MySQL to 5.5 on Lucid, upgrade server to Precise or switch to Percona?

  Looking into upgrading mysql on our development server to which is running 10.04 so is stuck at MySQL 5.1, as it appears there is no apt-get support for upgrading to 5.5 except by certain 3rd party PPAs. So I'm looking for which route to take and what other people have done: a) Follow a couple year old guide to manually install MySQL 5.5 and then invest ongoing time into manually downloading and installing security updates every month or two? b) Upgrade 10.04 to 12.04, and from other peoples experience I work with spend several days working out the kinks of that large upgrade, then I'll have access to mysql 5.5 and easy apt-get installation of future security updates? c) Switch from MySQL to Percona Server 5.5 and get all the benefits of that version of mysql, plus easy apt-get updates with their PPA? d) Something else?

• Stop native web app from reloading itself upon opening on iOS

  I'm trying to build a "native web app" using HTML + JS on iOS. As you may know you can add such an application to the homescreen and it will more or less look just like a normal native app. However if I quit such an app and reopen it again it reloads the whole page again. This also happens when switching to such an application from another over the multitasking bar. Is this expected behaviour or is there a way to stop the device from doing this?   I've been using PHP-5.4.3 for about a month now, and today, I decided to make a switch to PHP-5.5.5, I downloaded the source code, and placed it in C:/php (also renaming the folder php-5.5.5 to php) and I added server variables, as usual C:/php/ <-- but here I got stuck. Because, usually I appended the php.exe at the end, which was found inside the PHP folder so, I could be able to access PHP from the command line, or start the built-in server, but now, I can't find this file, and I can't find a way to start the server from the command line either. Anyone help.

  I'm trying to do Ruby password input with the Highline gem and since I have the user input the password twice, I'd like to eliminate the duplication on the blocks I'm passing in. For example, a simple version of what I'm doing right now is: new_pass = ask("Enter your new password: ") { |prompt| prompt.echo = false } verify_pass = ask("Enter again to verify: ") { |prompt| prompt.echo = false } And what I'd like to change it to is something like this: foo = Proc.new { |prompt| prompt.echo = false } new_pass = ask("Enter your new password: ") foo verify_pass = ask("Enter again to verify: ") foo Which unfortunately doesn't work. What's the correct way to do this?

I understand a lot about how to embellish a real-world resume--emphasizing tasks done at previous jobs and whatnot--but I'm not sure if it will translate well to low-experience internship resumes. Internship Resumes are marked by: Few to no past Software-related full-time jobs or internships Few to no non-school-involved Software-related activities Obviously if you have no experience or activities to list, you're pretty well stuck. So let's assume we have one of each. I'm basically wondering: What is a company looking for most from Intern candidates? Past work, GPA/coursework, Outside projects (Open Source, etc), certain skill sets (languages) Should I be emphasizing tasks, or jobs/positions when listing my experiences? Are skills important to list? If so, which ones in particular?

• Ubuntu not starting up after shutdown while upgrading

  I had ubuntu 11.10 installed and I was upgrading it to Ubuntu 12.04.1. While upgrading my computer got shut down due to heating issues. Afterwards its not starting up and gets stuck at a black screen. I can use ctrl+alt+f1 to go to command line. But I dont know how to resolve this issue from there. It shows me a message the ubuntu release 12.04.1 is available and run the command "do-release-upgrade" to upgrade to it. But when I run this command, it errors out saying "no new release found". Can anyone suggest what to do ? Thanks !

  I have a timer in my code and the interval is 10s When the timer elapsed, I will do some checking, and it may takes more than 10s for checking and some update jobs. However, if I didn't stop the timer, seems the checking will execute every 10s ... If I call the stop(), seems the timer cannot be start again ... ie something like: protected void timer_elapsed(object sender, EventArgs args) { __timer.Stop(); //Some checking here more than 10s __timer.Start(); } I just want another 10s to check again after the before checking is done. anyone can help?

• What jquery based table plugin can hide sub rows?

  I'm in the need to convert excel macros into jquery code, the function is that you need to click on the plus sign to unfold and show the sub rows to modify column2 if you want to type values in column2, the other columns can't be modified. You can't straightly modify values of column2 until you unfold the parent row, because there are many sub rows belonging to parent row,say Car. The values of Name, Model, Code are existing, they are master data, no need to type or modify. please see the snapshot at folded and unfolded, besides modifying values in sub rows , I need to be able to know which sub rows are modified and values of those rows.Initially the editable columns are blank. And when you click on the minus sign, the sub rows can be folded again,but the modified values won't be lost,they are still there when unfolded again. One last requirement is it's cross devices, the code must run well on pc,mobile phone,pad. Is that possible? Many thanks.

  Hi, I have a game I am making, it is giving me this message... "An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverflowException' occurred in game.exe" To explain...I have a 2D array with 9 different opening moves and I am getting a random number to use as the array reference to retrieve the details needed for a move... you may get the same move again - but that's illegal. the move may be illegal for other reasons too So to try and fix this, I am calling the function again from within the function. The error occurs very randomly Is this bad practise to call a function from within itself? What would be a better way to randomly row from a 2D array, AND if it isn't accept to get another one.... Or better still, how can I retrieve a random LEGAL move?

• JQuery identify current CSS background-image in three-state icon/button?

  Hi I have three images being used to indicate an application icon state and I'm attempting to use css to do this. No problem with the original or hover states: #myDIV { background-image: url(icons/homeBlack.png); } #myDIV:hover { background-image: url(icons/homeWhite.png); } but I need to do two other things: 1) when the item is clicked it should use the third image $("#myDIV").click(function(event){ // change this button $(this).css("background-image", "url(icons/homeBlue.png)"); }); 2) if it is clicked again it should not apply the third image again because it's already applied - so it needs to check if it has been applied My questions are: 1) simply am I missing a css trick somewhere or is Jquery the best way to do this? 2) can I check which background-image is in place and how? I can't seem to find anything in JQuery that would allow me to determine which image is "currently" in place. Thanks in advance for any help.

• How to draw unlimited FPS on Mac OS X with OpenGL?

  I d'like to draw as many frames as possible with OpenGL on Mac OS X to measure the performance on different scenes. What I've tried so far: Using a CVDisplayLink that has NSOpenGLCPSwapInterval set to 0, so it does not sync with the Display. But with that it's still stuck at max 60FPS Using normal -drawRect: with a timer that fires 1/1000sec and calls -setNeedsDisplay: Still not more than 60FPS Same as 2. but I call -display in the timer callback. With that I get the FPS above 60, but it still stops at 100-110 FPS. Although the frame rate should easily be at 10times more. Andy idea how I can really draw as many frames as possible?

• 12.04 reboots rather than shutting down

  I have a ruvo with a fresh installation of 12.04. When I try and shutdown the computer reboots. Until I upgraded (by doing a fresh install) I ran it with Ubuntu 10.04 and I didn't have this issue. I have tried sudo shutdown -h now sudo shutdown -P now sudo init 0 sudo poweroff All of these cause a reboot. I have added acpi=norq to my grub file as suggested by someone in the first post below. This is being used as a mythtv frontend and I would like the power button to shut it down. I have modified the button to perform a shutdown -h now, but this too causes a reboot. I have studied the posts below and tried some of these ideas, but with no luck so far. Why do I get a reboot instead of a shutdown? • Open an Application .exe window inside another application

  I have an application in WPF running. I would like that, when a button is clicked inside this application, another application opens, with its window maximized. However, I don't want my first application to stop and wait. I want both to be open and running independently. When the button is clicked again, in case the application is minimized, the application is maximized. In case it is not, it is open again. How is it possible using C#?   Possible Duplicate: How to list all installed packages? I am on a "grown" system. My initial setup was using Ubuntu 9.04. But now with the 12.04 Update I got stuck. My System is freezing or wired errors occour. I want to reinstall my system on a clean partition. How can I get a list of the packages I installed in my system? I want a list with the base packages not all the dependecies, so I can install all packages on my clean install again with the correct (maybe new) dependencies. I other words: I want to retrieve a list of all packages installed with apt-get directly. Not the ones it additionally installs with these packages. Thanks!

• Cannot make NVIDIA driver work with Ubuntu 12.10

  I seem to have a problem similar to many but I didn't manage to get it solved: have a Lenovo N581 with an NVIDIA GeForce 610M have just installed a fresh Ubuntu 12.10 64 bits, + KDE and am trying to have my NVIDIA card work. Have tried all workarounds posted: purge nvidia, install kernel source/headers and then reinstall nvidia-current-updates (or just nvidia-current), do "sudo nvidia-xconfig". It does create a xorg.conf but does not much (no Module Section by the way). The result is that my system (jokey) tells me that the driver is there but not in use and I only get a 640x480 resolution. If I try to launch nvidia-settings it does indeed tell me that the nvidia driver is not used. I do all this under kde but I guess it does matter at this stage. Any hint of how to resolve this? I feel stuck and cannot use any of the acceleration which is partly why I got that laptop in the first place... thanks for any help/advise you may provide!
