  • Mysql multiple row count?

    - by Steven
Hello, I have a database full of rows like id,action, date 2,2,2010-03-01 3,2,2010-03-01 4,3,2010-03-01 5,3,2010-03-01 6,4,2010-02-01 7,4,2010-02-01 And I want to select all the count all the 2's and all the 3's and all the 4's. But I don't want to have to do 3 different SELECT COUNT() commands, is there a way to do this in a single command? Note, I want to display this as something like Action 2 = 2 Action 3 = 2 Action 4 = 2 (etc etc). And I will also need to specific a date (so it only counts all the 2,3,4,etc for dates between 2010-02-03 and 2010-03-01 for example)

  • Targeting row when responding with js rails

    - by berto77
I have an application where a user can vote on reviews. They can vote up or down. Now when there's a listing of reviews, I have a problem targeting the review the user voted on. I'm using a respon_to block in my rails controller and responding with js. So for instance, I have a vote_up method, and a vote_up.js.erb template. in that template, I have the following: var id = $('article.comment').attr('id').split('_')[1]; alert("id: " + id); $('.votecomment_' + id).find('.score').html("<%= @review2.vote_total %>"); I'm just alerting the id. The problem is that the id always returns the value of the first review found on the page. How can I pass the context aka this, to javascript, so I can figure out which review to target?

  • jQuery syntax for changing the value of a table cell

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
I have a table where every row has a unique id. The last table cell has class="status" where I want to show the user the result of their action. In my $.ajax call, I have: ,success: function(result){ $('tr#'+result).td('.status').text('Updated'); }; result is the id of the row that was updated. It's just throwing an error message that says $( and that's all.

  • SQL Table design question

    - by Projapati
Please ignore this question if it sounds stupid to you. I have SQL table (SQL Server) for photo albums and it has 20+ columns & it will hold millions of albums. I need to designate some albums as Promoted and some as Featured every week. I also need a very efficient way to get these albums (page by page) when I show it to users. How should I design this? option 1: I can create another table just to store the ids of the promoted and featured albums like this and then join the main albums table to get the set of columns I need. table designated_albums: album_id promoted_featured 1 1 5 0 7 1 15 0 The query for promoted will return 1, 7 The query for featured will return 5, 15 Option 2: I can add 1 column store 1 if promoted and 0 if featured. Otherwise it is null I can then query to check for 1 in that column for promoted albums & 0 for featured. Option 3: I can add 2 bit columns: one for promoted (0/1) and one for featured(0/1) Which way would perform better? EDIT: The design should be efficient in SQL 2008 as well. Right now I have SQL 2005.

  • Unable to change two things about a single row in mysql with php

    - by user1624005
    Here's the code: $id = intval($_POST['id']); $score = "'" . $_POST['score'] . "'"; $shares = "'" . $_POST['shares'] . "'"; $conn = new PDO('mysql:host=localhost;dbname=news', 'root', ''); $stmt = $conn->prepare("UPDATE news SET 'shares' = :shares, 'score' = :score WHERE id = :id"); $stmt -> execute(array( 'shares' => $shares, 'score' => $score, 'id' => $id )); And it doesn't work. I am unsure as to how I would see the error that I assume mysql is giving somewhere, and I've tried everything I could think of. Using double quotes and adding the variables into the statement right away. Adding single quotes to shares and score. How am I supposed to be doing this?

  • SQLAuthority News – Whitepaper Download – Using Star Join and Few-Outer-Row Optimizations to Improve Data Warehousing Queries

    - by pinaldave
Size of the database is growing every day. Many organizations now a days have more than TB of the Data in their system. Performance is always part of the issue. Microsoft is really paying attention to the same and also focusing on improving performance for Data Warehousing. Microsoft has recently released whitepaper on the performance tuning subject of Data Warehousing. Here is the abstract about the whitepaper from official site: In this white paper we discuss two of the new features introduced in SQL Server 2008, Star Join and Few-Outer-Row optimizations. These two features are in SQL Server 2008 R2 as well.  We test the performance of SQL Server 2008 on a set of complex data warehouse queries designed to highlight the effect of these two features and observed a significant performance gain over SQL Server 2005 (without these two features). The results observed also apply to SQL Server 2008 R2.  On average, about 75 percent of the query execution time has been reduced, compared to SQL Server 2005. We also include data that shows a reduction in the number of rows processed and improved balance in parallel queries, both of which highlight the important role the Star Join and Few Outer-Row features played. I encouraged all of those interested in Data Warehouse to read it and see if they can learn the tricks. Using Star Join and Few-Outer-Row Optimizations to Improve Data Warehousing Queries Reference: Pinal Dave (http://blog.SQLAuthority.com) Filed under: PostADay, SQL, SQL Authority, SQL Documentation, SQL Download, SQL Query, SQL Server, SQL Tips and Tricks, SQLAuthority News, T SQL, Technology

  • Roughly how long should an "ALTER TABLE" take on an 1.3GB INNODB table?

    - by justkevin
I'm trying to optimize a table that hasn't been optimized in a long time. It has around 2.5 million rows with 1.3 GB of data and a 152 MB index. I started optimizing it about 15 minutes ago and I have no idea how long it will take. The server is reasonably robust (quad xeon with 4GB ram) and has a 500MB innodb buffer pool size. Should I expect this to take minutes, hours or days?

I have a list (e.g., a bulleted list) in Microsoft Word. This list is inside a table cell. When I press Tab to increase the indent, rather than increasing the indent, it moves the cursor to the next cell. When I try Ctrl+Tab, it just inserts a tab character without changing the indentation of the bullet (paragraph). How can I turn this off, so it does not go to the next cell but rather just indents the list?

  • Excel 2007: "Format as Table" Increments Column Names

    - by Mark
I love using the formatting styles for tables in Excel 2007, but in my data I'm using the same column name for multiple columns. When I format my table using the pre-defined styles, it automatically adds an incremental number to each subsequent column name which I don't want. Is there any way to stop this from happening? If I attempt to manually rename the column back to the original name, it automatically appends the incremented number.

  • phpmyadmin import database table from google spreadsheet

    - by phunehehe
I'm managing a small website, which allows people to register as members. Previously I used a google form to manage member registration, but now as the number of users becomes quite big I am switching to mysql. Currently I have around 500 members in the database, saved in a google spreadsheet. How can I do a bulk import from a google spreadsheet to a table in mysql? BTW I'm using phpmyadmin, so a solution for phpmyadmin is preferable :) Thanks.

  • Postrouting rule in NAT table

    - by codingfreak
Hi I have a strange question regarding NAT using iptables. When I do SNAT in a postrouting chain in NAT table at the end of the rule should I give -J ACCEPT? I see counters on the postrouting rule getting incremented but no packet leaving the machine. So does it mean the packet is DROPPED automatically?

  • Saving table yields "Record is too large" in Access

    - by C. Ross
I have an access database that I gave to a user (shame on my head). They were having trouble with some data being too long, so I suggested changing several text fields to memo fields. I tried this in my copy and it worked perfectly, but when the user tries it they get a "Record is too large" messagebox on saving the modified table design. Obviously the same record is not too large in my database, why would it be in theirs?

  • Switches with large MAC address table?

    - by user1290200
Does anyone know which switches have a large MAC address table ? I see most switches having only 8K, but we need to store way, way more than that (hundreds of K). I know this may seem odd, but trust me, there's no other way we can make our setup work. The only thing we seem to be able to do is install Juniper routers that store up to 1M addresses, but that will get quite costly and we'd rather avoid doing that.

  • How to extract innermost table from html file with the help of the html agility pack ?

    - by Harikrishna
I am parsing the tabular information from the html file with the help of the html agility pack. Now I can do it and it works. But when the table what I want to extract is inner most. Or I don't know at which position it is in nested tables. And there can be any number of nested tables and from that I want to extract the information of the table which has column name name, address. Ex. <table> <tr><td>PHONE NO.</td><td>OTHER INFO.</td></tr> <tr><td> <table> <tr><td>AMOUNT</td></tr> <tr><td>50000</td></tr> <tr><td>80000</td></tr> </table> </td></tr> <tr><td> <table> <tr><td> <table> <tr><td> <table> <tr><td> NAME </td><td>ADDRESS</td> <tr><td> ABC </td><td> kfks </td> <tr><td> BCD </td><td> fdsa </td> </table> </tr></td> </table> </td></tr> </table> </td></tr> </table> There are many tables but I want to extract the table which has column name name, address. So what should I do ?
