• pppoe connection to dsl model

  Hello, I am connecting to the internet through a pppoe connection, but for some reason I can not connect to my modem (it's address is 192.168.1.1). Before I set my pppoe connection, I could connect. So, is there a way? • Not able to connect to local network

They can now ping each other, but the rest of the network cannot be contacted by the windows client.   I created a database link using database link. create public database link REMOTEDB connect to REMOTEUSER identified by REMOTEPWD using 'REMOTEDB'; then i create a table in remote db like, create table MYTABLE@REMOTEDB (name varchar2(20))); It says, ORA-02021 DDL operations are not allowed on| a remote database.. Will this Not work on any cost, or am i just missing some permissions to create ?

• Why does my Intel Tolapai network chip not transmit packets?

  I'm trying to deploy an embedded system (NISE 110 by Nexcom) based on the Intel EP80579 (Tolapai) chip. Tolapai apparently integrates controllers for Ethernet etc. on a single chip (Intel homepage). The machine can't get a network connection. Diagnosis as far as I could manage: Drivers drivers from Intel compiled and installed without problems (version 1.0.3-144). Kernel version and Linux distribution (CentOS 5.2, 2.6.18) match the driver's installation instructions. drivers are loaded and show up in lsmod (module names are gcu and iegbe) interfaces eth0 and eth1 show up in ifconfig ifconfig I can bring up the interfaces with fixed IP pinging the interface locally works ifconfig shows flag UP but not RUNNING Link ethtool shows "Link detected: no", "Speed: unknown (65536)" and "Duplex: unknown (255)" Link LED is on on the other side of the cable, ethtool shows "Link detected: yes" and reports a speed of 1000 Mbps, which has allegedly been auto-neogotiated with the problematic device. Network traffic analysis the device does not reply on ARP, ICMP echo or anything else (iptables is down) when trying to send ICMP or DHCP requests, they never reach the other end activity LED is off on the device, on at the other end. I tried the following without any effect: Different cables (2 straight, one crossed), I get the link LED lit up on each. Three different devices on the other end (one PC, one netbook, one router) Fixed ARP table entries on both sides Connecting both network ports of the machine with each other, won't ping through the cable, but will ping locally. Tried straight and crossed cables for that.

I am also interested in the latest edition of Windows which nothing but our Windows 7. Next to Vista I like this version very much. Out of curiosity I have installed the prebuild version of Windows 7. I tried installing the express edition here and it failed making me disappointed. I tried two or three times and finally I decided to download the trial version of Windows 7. After that I can install the Visual Studio 2010 express edition easily. • Can't install Skype on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit

• "Always available offline" option missing on one network drive in Windows 7

  My network setup at home has 2 network storage devices on the network. The one is for media content on a Popcorn Hour A-110 and the other is a D-Link DNS-320 in RAID 1 configuration for business files. When I access these network drives and right click a folder the following context menu appears for the A-110 device, but not for the D-link. I have tested this in both Windows 7 32bit and Windows Vista 64bit. In both instances the "Always available offline" option is only available for the A-110 storage device, and not for the D-link. How do I get this option for the D-link? Any advice or ideas are welcome.

• Can I ping via an arbitrary interface of a DD-WRT system?

  There's a Linksys WRT54GL router with DD-WRT firmware (v23SP2). What I tried, as suggested here: ping -I vlan2 <address> ping 192.168.2.1 <address> In both cases ping simply exits with no error messages. Also, ping ignores many other parameters, again, by exiting silently. I failed to find any references that DD-WRT has a limited version of ping whatsoever. I also don't think it can be a permissions issue as mentioned here since the only user with DD-WRT is root. What's wrong?

• There's IP but can't reach gateway

  I have just installed ubuntu 12.04 on my new laptop, and brought it back to home, but I found the wireless network does not work. Strangely, it has the correct ip, but can't connect to the gateway. ifconfig gives ip 192.168.64.36, with broadcast 192.168.79.255 and mask 255.255.240.0, this are all correct, the gateway is at 192.168.64.1 cat /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 192.168.64.1 nameserver 127.0.0.1 which i think it's also right. but when I ping 192.168.64.1, all packages are lost. Please help me with this, I really do not know what happened to my network settings. • Wireless will not connect on an Asus U56? [closed]

  I have an ASUS U56. I could connect to internet without delay or problems in Ubuntu 11.04. Now, running Ubuntu 11.10, I have not been able to connect. I can see the network and the computer tries to connect, but never makes the connection. I have been trying to fix this problem since the release date of 11.10. I had to install the older kernel 2.6 to get the wifi to work.   I first referred to a link explaining how to set a page as your front page. What I want is to set a category of my blogs as my front page display. • Perl script rendered in browser as code through symlink - fine when accessed directly

  I have a Rails 4 app that has some views that post to Perl cgi scripts. The perl scripts are accessed via a symbolic link to a folder called "cgi-bin". When I navigate to a perl script through the symbolic link they are rendered as text instead of executed (ie: localhost:3000/cgi-bin/test.cgi), however when I access them directly they execute without issue (ie. localhost/path/to/cgi-bin/test.cgi). I am using apache2 on os x. In the directory localhost/path/to/ I have an .htaccess file that contains the following: # General Apache options AddHandler fastcgi-script .fcgi AddHandler cgi-script .cgi Options +FollowSymLinks +ExecCGI I have the exact same lines in the .htaccess file that I have in localhost:3000/ I have also uncommented the AllowOverride all in httpd.conf. The are no errors in apache's error log. When I access the direct link to test.cgi a new line is appended to apache's access log, when I access the script through the symbolic link (and it is rendered as text), there is no line appended to the access log. Any idea why this error occurs? This setup worked fine in a previous version of rails of OS X, but recently I upgraded to Mavericks and figured I should update the Rails application to v4.0 as well.

  A common practice is to use non-preallocated virtual disks. Since they only grow as needed, it makes them perfect for fast backup, overallocation and creation speed. Since file systems are usually based on physical disks they have the tendency to use the whole area available1 in order to increase the speed2 or reliability3. I'm searching a filesystem that does the exact opposite : try to touch the minimum blocks need by an aggressive block reuse. I would happily trade some performance for space usage. There is already a similar question, but it is rather general. I have very specific goal : space-efficiency. 1. Like page caching uses all the free physical memory 2. Canonical example : online defragmentation 3. Canonical example : snapshotting

  I am trying to install NIC r8168 and it shows everything installed ok. It is a brand new NIC and the lights wont come on when I plug in a ethernet. The NIC is that is not working is eth0. Why does it show the r8168 driver being used by 0? • Windows Azure AppFabric SDK - June CTP - Download issues

  Microsoft has announced availability of the June CTP for Windows Azure AppFabric. See http://blogs.msdn.com/b/appfabric/archive/2011/06/20/announcing-the-windows-azure-appfabric-june-ctp.aspx. This is an exciting release and provides greater insight into where the AppFabric team is heading in terms of developer and management tooling. Microsoft is offering space in the cloud to experiment with the CTP, but this is limited, so register early to get a namespace! You can download the SDK for the June CTP. However, we ran into a lot of trouble trying to do this today. Whenever we followed the link, we ended up on the page for the May CTP. We found what appeared to be a workaround which we were able to repeat on another box (and which I reported on Connect), but then a few minutes later I couldn't repeat it. Just now, the given link appears to be working every time in IE, but not in Firefox!   Frankly, the behaviour seems random!   It looks like the same URL points to two different pages, and I suspect that which page you end up on is hit and miss. The link to the download page is http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17691. If you end up on the wrong page, try again later and you may get to the right place. Or try googling "Windows Azure AppFabric SDK CTP – June Update" and following a link to this page. For some reason, that sometimes seems to work. • 301 redirect: Is this good or bad for 2 domains?

  Since i couldn't find any appropriate answer to my specific question, I wanted to ask you. I've read alot of things about the 301-redirect for moving pages and so on. A customer of mine has booked a new domain last year for better search results (he included his main keyword into the domain. Before he had only a domain with his business name, which had nothing to say about what he does). I told him, that he should do a 301-redirect so he doesn't loose his position in Google and to redirect all new customers coming from the old domain to the new domain. After about one year where his site hat a good amount of traffic the search results of Google for his keywords are getting more worse. Since he didn't maintain his website (no new content, bad content on all pages and so on) I assumed this would be the problem. He gave his website to another company which also makes websites. They told him, that this 301-redirection is very bad for his website. They removed it, and also updated his content and the template so now he has the same meta keywords on every page (instead of the specific ones I put there before). He also removed the canonical-tag which I placed there to ensure no duplicate content. What I am now afraid of is, that without this redirect Google now will find duplicate content and therefore kick him out of the index, which would be a nightmare, since most of his customers come over his website. I need verification of the fact, that the 301 isn't bad but in fact the correct way of working with 2 domains. If possible with good sources I can point out to him since he don't wants to hear anything about this. If someone also has a few words about the keywords and the canonical-tag I would really appreciate it! Thank you very much!

• Want Google to index redirect urls

  I'm having issues with users who think that Google Search is the address bar. Some of the sites that link to my site use user friendly addresses with 301 redirects to pages that have less friendly URLs. So, for example if I enter www.foo.com/bar it goes to www.bar.com/page.php?some-parameters-and-utm-codes-etc usually this is done by a 301 redirect in order to keep the SEO from foo.com on bar.com and so on, which I believe is standard practice. However, lately there have been more and more people searching www.foo.com/bar instead of going to www.foo.com/bar directly and because the page /bar is nothing more than a redirect it has no SEO that I know of. Things I've thought of but haven't been able to test, because Google takes forever to update :) (and I'm lazy like that), include using Google sitemaps and having them enter their redirects as entries there. (I could see this working if they were the top search entry all the time, and it might appear as a sitelink, but I don't know if that'll make the url itself show up in searches) Using Canonical tags on my pages to the redirects they set up. Which is a nightmare in itself because of the nature of my pages. One week the www.foo.com/bar might go to www.bar.com/pageA.php the next it might goto www.bar.com/pageB.php and having to remember to take the canonical tag off of pageA, so that it doesn't get confused with pageB would be a pain. Using 302 redirects -.- So I guess the question here is, does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? What should I do to make www.foo.com/bar show up when someone 'searches' for this redirect url?

I am learning to use iptables to control the devices connected to B(wlan) . I use my phone to connect wifi of B,the phone's IP is IP:192.168.1.100.it can surf the internet normally.
