    The title is obvious, I need to know if methods are serialized along with object instances in C#, I know that they don't in Java but I'm a little new to C#. If they don't, do I have to put the original class with the byte stream(serialized object) in one package when sending it to another PC? Can the original class be like a DLL file?

  • When would I want to model a class with a private ctor?

    Hi, I've seen plenty of classes in .NET which have private constructor (Stream is one of them I think). When would I want to model a class like this? I keep thinking that if my class has no internal state/fields, then I can make it have a private constructor. Am I on the right track with this idea? I can understand the use of a factory (I've run into the tipping point a few times), but not with a private constructor class. Thanks

  • Sending floating point values between processes with pipes in C

    Is there a standard way of sending floating point values from a child process to a parent process in C. I have a some calculations where I want to fork a process, then have the child do some busy work, the parent do something else, and then the child send its values (which are doubles) back to the parent (presumably through a pipe). Clearly the parent could parse the stream, but I'm just wondering if there's a cleaner way?

I need this so i can do a calculation on size / time to get the speed in realtime. Im planing on performing this calculation in the webClient.DownloadProgressChanged event.

    I'm using Guzzle 4 (latest version) to upload file to a remote server, since it uses stream to upload the $response-getStatusCode() will be 100 which means "Continue" and the responseBody is not available at this point. Is there a way to catch the remote server response when the upload is done?     I have often problems reading AVI file with my TV dvd player if they are not divx or xvid (DX50,i.e., is not readable). I'd like to make a fast script to recognize the video codec of these files before burn it on cdrom/dvd. The command : ffmpeg -i file.avi give the "container" of the video stream (mpeg4,mpeg2,etc), not the codec. Any hint? Thanks

    How can i write 'one bit' into a file stream or file structure each time? is it possible to write to a queue and then flush it ? is it possible with c# or java? this was needed when i try to implement an instance of Huffman codding. i can't write bits into files. so write them to a bitset and then (when compression was completed) write 8-bit piece of it each time (exclude last one).

I want to show this output to the user in an NSTextView (so basicly stream the stdout to the NSTextView).     Is there a command-line tool that could tell me if Gzip is on? What I'm looking for is something that can say the stream coming from the server is really gzipped even if the header params say Gzip:1 (which it could be falsely placing in the headers). I don't see a switch in curl, or wget, or tcpdump, or anything, but maybe I'm just missing something, or perhaps there is something else that could provide me this bit of information? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Better alternative for PipedReader/PipedWriter?

    I need to have a buffered char stream, into which I write in one thread and from which I read in another thread. Right now I'm using PipedReader and PipedWriter for it, but those classes cause a performance problem: PipedReader does a wait(1000) when its internal buffer is empty, which causes my application to lag visibly. Would there be some library which does the same thing as PipedReader/PipedWriter, but with better performance? Or will I have to implement my own wheels?

The error itself is: System.IO.EndOfStreamException: Unable to read beyond the end of the stream. at System.IO.BinaryReader.ReadByte() at System.Web.UI.ObjectStateFormatter.DeserializeIndexedString(SerializerBinaryReader reader, Byte token) at System.Web.UI.ObjectStateFormatter.DeserializeValue(SerializerBinaryReader reader) Google turns up little. I assume they are submitting an invalid viewstate, but the exception has no line number so im stumped.
