• Sun Grid Engine (SGE) Jobs Not Visible After Adding virtual_free

  I'm trying to to use virtual_free to limit the number of large memory jobs running each grid node in my cluster. This seems to be working as expected. After I modified my code to submit jobs with the memory instances, qstat -f -q $queueName no longer shows a list of jobs waiting for a slot. The jobs are submitted with a specific queue (-q $queueName). I'm guessing this is happening due to the magic of SGE queue selection. Is there a way to make my jobs show up as before? Thanks! UPDATE I'm using: qstat -f -u * -q $queueName to view the queue. If I drop the queue argument, I can see the jobs. If I examine a specific job, I can see that it has the correct hard_queue_list value set. I'm also using Sun Grid Engine 6.1u4

• Strange error from mysql storage engine

  General error: 1030 Got error -1 from storage engine the used storage engine is innodb the query was runned when i got it today morning was: SELECT feeds.* FROM feeds ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1 i know rand() is bad but it's very small table (<500 records) and not loaded project this error i receive approximately once a day. cannot google anything relevant :-(

• MySQL Server - Got error -1 from storage engine

  I am currently trying to restore a MySQL table from the .ibd file. I have been following the instructions on the MySQL reference manual on how to use DISCARD and IMPORT TABLESPACE to replace the .idb files. Discarding the tablespace returns no error and the file is deleted however IMPORTING the replacement .ibd file yields a "Got error -1 from storage engine" error. There doesn't seem to be too much information about what exactly an error -1 is. Does anybody have any further insight as to why an import table space isn't working?

• Sort a 2D Points List (first by X and then Y)

  I am trying to sort a List of 2D Points first by x co-ordinate and then by y co-ordinate. I implemented the IComparer interface as follows: class PointComparer : IComparer<Point> { public int Compare(Point x, Point y) { if (x.Y != y.Y) { return x.Y - y.Y; } else { return x.X - y.X; } } } And then call my sorting as follows: pointsList.Sort(new PointComparer()); For some reason the list doesn't sort. Surely is something very simple and silly, but stuck on this for quite a while....TIA

• Non laggy movement in Flex or WPF

  I'm trying to learn something about 2D games programming. For this purpose I've downloaded many samples developed in: Flex and Microsoft WPF. I've noticed that all the animations / moving objects are kind of non-smooth. I've seen a Flex example with double buffering which solved the image flickering, but it was laggy too. WPF example too. Just to mentioned, all examples were drawing on Canvas. I'm just curious, is it possible to have a wonderful non-laggy movement on the GUI in Flash or WPF ? (e.g. like a real game, coded in C++)

• Unknown/unsupported storage engine: InnoDB | Mysql Ubuntu

  I recently upgraded from the previous LTS Ubuntu to Precise and now mysql refuses to start. It complains of the following when I attempt to start it: ?$ sudo service mysql restart stop: Unknown instance: start: Job failed to start And this shows in "/var/log/mysql/error.log": 120415 23:01:09 [Note] Plugin 'InnoDB' is disabled. 120415 23:01:09 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 120415 23:01:09 [ERROR] Unknown/unsupported storage engine: InnoDB 120415 23:01:09 [ERROR] Aborting 120415 23:01:09 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown complete I've checked permissions on all the mysql directories to make sure it had ownership and I also renamed the previou ib_logs so that it could remake them. I'm just getting no where with this issue right now, after looking at google results for 2 hours.

  I have, essentially, a matrix of data (lets say ints) that I would like to store in a 2D array in which the dimensions are not known until runtime (say x columns and y rows). Some of my models depend on database transactions, and I would like to write some tests for their correct behavior.   I want to draw and manipulate logic flow (as opposed to analog) circuit diagrams and I'm trying not to reinvent the wheel. Problems like positioning, line drawing, line crossing and connecting, path finding, rubberband lines, and drag & drop are also identical in flow charts, UML diagrams, or class diagrams so I started by viewing related topics via Google and Stack Overflow. However, the following requirements seemed to keep me from finding anything that quite fit: assuming a chip has an image with input and output stubs, the connecting lines would connect to the chip only in the exact spots of the I/O stubs the color of connecting lines are able to be set as per a chip's output Is there an existing .NET 2d graphics library that would be suitable for drawing circuit diagrams?

  My question is, what is the best way to tint an image that is drawn using the drawImage method. The target useage for this is advanced 2d particle-effects (game development) where particles change colors over time etc. I am not asking how to tint the whole canvas, only the current image i am about to draw. I have concluded that the globalAlpha parameter affects the current image that is drawn. //works with drawImage() canvas2d.globalAlpha = 0.5; But how do i tint each image with an arbitrary color value ? It would be awesome if there was some kind of globalFillStyle or globalColor or that kind of thing...

I have started the client side in Actionscript, server side in PHP (but now i'm moving to Java) and persistence in MySQL. Which socket server (non commercial) will be preferable, RedDwarf (former DarkStar), Red5, ... ? Those servers are Flash Remoting (AMF) capable ? Those servers manage all the object's game persistence? Then there's no need to create a database ?

  i am trying to flip a pentahex (5 hexagons joined at their sides). Is it possible to do so in Java? I mean suppose 2 of the 3 hexagons are in one quadrant can I change their quadrant? It is similar to what we do to flip images in Paint. The same utility I am trying to perform in Java. I have heard about Affine transform wherein it makes use of a bit called TYPE_FLIP, but I am not sure how to use it. Any small example would be of great help. I want to explode $rows into a 2D array $rowData where each row is an array element and each tab-delimited value is assigned to a different array element. I've tried these two methods without success. I know the first one has a coding error but I do not know how to correct it. • Firefox - built in search engine toolbar broken

  When I change the order of the search engines (Toolbar - Manage Search Engines - Move up / down - Ok) it changes the order, until I close and reopen the browser. I can't imagine that's the way it's supposed to work. I want it to stay in the order I select. I have no add-ons installed that have anything to do with search engines, nor that add any toolbars. I am not using a customized theme. Apparently this problem is rare, as Googling [ "manage search engine list" ("order reverts" OR "order changes") ] return 0 results. Firefox 3.6.12; Windows XP Pro SP3.

  I have a 2D numpy array of shape (N,2) which is holding N points (x and y coordinates). For example: array([[3, 2], [6, 2], [3, 6], [3, 4], [5, 3]]) I'd like to sort it such that my points are ordered by x-coordinate, and then by y in cases where the x coordinate is the same. So the array above should look like this: array([[3, 2], [3, 4], [3, 6], [5, 3], [6, 2]]) If this was a normal Python list, I would simply define a comparator to do what I want, but as far as I can tell, numpy's sort function doesn't accept user-defined comparators. Any ideas?

  I'm trying to essentially get something like this where I can see clear ripples at the base but otherwise it's like a Gaussian: This is kind of unsatisfactory because the ripples aren't very noticeable, it has a very gritty quality that obscures the image a bit, and if you move the graph so that it's just in 2D (so it looks like a circle) I'm not even sure if it's quite like how it should be (the concentric circles seem to be more evenly spaced in the real thing). • Drawing a 2D line on a canvas

  I have the datalist = 62, 76, 80, 72, 71, 75, 77 that i want to present as a 2D line drawed point to point. In my Wpf application i have a canvas with the height: 173 and width: 455. How do i go about it and draw a line by my datalist and use almost the whole height of the canvas? as it is now the data is just represented on a line at the bottom at the canvas, not using (and therefor giving a bad representation of the data) whole heigh of the canvas. It would also be nice to place it in the center of the box too...
