• How do you resolve the error "E: Unmet dependencies." ?

  I did try apt-get -f install but that didn't work either. The problem appeared after installing a modified version of libapache2-mod-wsgi. I modified the package dependencies because, as you can see from the package details link, it depends on python 3. A version of python is required but not version 3 necessarily and I didn't want to install version 3. There's bug #672901 that describes the problem. So, modifying the package dependencies worked but now that I try to install another package I get the error above. How can I get rid of it?

• Subdomain Is Redirected and Causing an Error Because www. is Added

  On my site, say example.com, if I try to access test.example.com, Firefox automatically adds www. to test.example.com, making it www.test.example.com, which causes an error. However, if I visit a site like my.ebay.com, no www. is added so no error occurs. What's going on? Just in case, my .htaccess file is as follows: Options -Multiviews RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php I looked through Firebug and it seems like Firefox doesn't even make an attempt to reach test.example.com before reverting to www.test.example.com. • Ubuntu won't stay installed

  I recently experienced OS problems with Windows 8 so I decided to wipe my hard drive and install Ubuntu using a usb boot. I am able to "Try Ubuntu" or choose to install instantly, however, after installation it asks me to restart my computer but when I do this I receive the same installation options I originally had, "Try Ubuntu", "Install", "OEM Install", "Repair Disk". I initially thought this was the result of leaving the boot usb in, so I tried reinstalling, but now I just receive a message saying "No boot disc or boot disc failed". This happens with any type of install I do, I've tried clearing the hard drive multiple times, making a new boot usb, but nothing seems to help. I've tried reinstalling windows, but I encounter the same problem, without the usb I get an error. I have an Acer Aspire M3470, I cleared my hard drive and attempting to install via usb boot. I have a weird BIOS menu probably because of AMD but it's been hard to find information regarding my particular BIOS menu. HERE is an image of my BIOS menu

• How do I compress a directory?

  I'm trying to compress a directory and ftp it to a windows ftp. I have tried every tar command I can find to compress a directory. It appears to be ok. Then I transfer it and view it's contents using Winrar. Winrar keeps telling me the file is corrupted. I have viewed other .gz or .bz2 files using winrar but for some odd reason I can't get it to work. I would prefer just to have it zip the files so they have a .zip extension but even then when i try to browse it's contents both windows and winrar claim it's corrupt. Does anyone else have a suggestion as to something else to try?

• Issues running alongside windows and connecting to wireless network

  Okay so I'm trying to get started with ubuntu but I'm encountering a couple problems: When I boot up the CD and try to install, it does not recognize that I have windows 7 installed and just sees it as unallocated space so the only way I've been able to install it is by wiping the drive which was fine, but it'd be nice to be able to boot either. And secondly, I cannot figure out how to get wireless working. When I try to connect on the initial installation process it tells me to connect to my adapter and just asks for a password. I suspect it could be a driver issue but I wouldn't know where to find it. I have an AR9485 atheros adapter and am attempting to run ubuntu 14.04. Thanks

  I try to add .pls radio station to rhythmbox. I download the file and I click musicimport file but nothing happen. I added one station before and it works fine but now it simply does not work. Also when I try to get from the file, click on open with rhythmbox I have the error: Couldn't start playback Problem occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or GStreamer. I have all medibuntu installed and I have one radio station already playing. I don't know how to proceed from now and what should I check if there is something to fix. Anyone get similar problem? (Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit Gnome3)

  I got an issue concerning Chrome. It launches now perfectly - still trying to install something else i see - You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these: The following packages have unmet dependencies: google-chrome-stable : Depends: lib32gcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) but it is not installable Depends: lib32stdc++6 (>= 4.6) but it is not installable Depends: libc6-i386 (>= 2.11) but it is not installable E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution). I remember i deleted some folder concerning chrome when it wasn't launchable - don't actually remember what directory exactly. Now - when i try this - "sudo apt-get -f update && sudo apt-get -f install" - i come across an error: sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory Seems that deletion was fatal. Got any ideas?   How do I get my webpage not to go back when they hit the back button and are logged out and how can I add a web page to be blocked like FACEBOOK doesn't let you get into their site with out having a page or a account with them, and if you try to put something in the url and try to go to something on their site it gives you a web page that says "you have to be logged in first" . Like I don't want someone going to the url of the "index" page before they have signed up as a member they need to make an account first then they can have access to the "index" page. How do I do this. I have a website so far that has a database and the website has 5 pages so far and two of them which is the login and sign up page which are both used with php and mysql and they work fine. How do I restrict access to the main website by first having the users sign up with me for an account.

Below block executes the afterMethod as expected for getUser. &ltaop:pointcut id="aopafterMethod" expression="execution(* UserService.*(..,UserInfo,..))" / &gtaop:after pointcut-ref="aopafterMethod" method="afterMethod" / But when i try to give BaseInfo instead of UserInfo, the aspect is not getting triggered. • Problem with DualBooting Ubuntu 13.10 and Win7

  this is my first post here on AskUbuntu, not first time using it though. I wanted to install Ubuntu 13.10 on my PC to have all my work stuff there and leave Win7 for gaming. So i did my research on how to Dual Boot when you already have Win7 installed, here are the steps i took Used Disk Management on Win7 and shrunk that partition, leaving 80GB free for Ubuntu. Made a Bootable pendrive following the instructions on Ubuntu`s website. During the installation steps there was supposed to be a Install alongside Win7, but there wasnt, so i chose Something else. Everything was fine and i was able to install Ubuntu no problem on my unallocated 80GB partition (76GB Ubuntu + 4GB swap) There was a prompt for me to restart my PC and so I did expecting to see the dual boot screen (grub right?) Now, when i restarted my PC, Grub never showed up and it booted straight to Windows. Then I did some more research and found out that that could happen. Tried three things then Plugging in bootable pendrive again and selected Try Ubuntu without installing. Then i followed some instructions found here (How can I repair grub? (How to get Ubuntu back after installing Windows?)) and i could chroot into my Ubuntu install just fine. Repaired grub as instructed on that link, restarted the PC and booted straight into Win7 again. Again, used the bootable pen drive to Try Ubuntu... and used the Boot-repair tool (recommended repair). Again, booted straight into Win7. Lastly, i installed easyBCD on my Win7 and made a new entry for Ubuntu (Linux/BSD). When i rebooted the PC, there was the option to choose between Win7 and Linux, chose linux and it didnt work, taking me straight to a command line-like enviroment that read Minimum bash like scripting or something, as if I didn`t have a Linux OS installed. So, I thought I`d try and repair my Ubuntu install. And during the Installation method step there was the choice to install alongside Ubuntu 13.10! and that right there drove me crazy. Here is a screenshot of gparted showing how things are set up now http://imageshack.us/f/801/77u3.png/ Notice on the left-hand side how i can access my installation files just fine. sdb1- win7 reserved space, sdb2- win7 OS, sdb3- 76GB ubuntu install, sdb5- 4GB swap area. • Why can't Java/C# implement RAII?

  Question: Why can't Java/C# implement RAII? Clarification: I am aware the garbage collector is not deterministic. So with the current language features it is not possible for an object's Dispose() method to be called automatically on scope exit. But could such a deterministic feature be added? My understanding: I feel an implementation of RAII must satisfy two requirements: 1. The lifetime of a resource must be bound to a scope. 2. Implicit. The freeing of the resource must happen without an explicit statement by the programmer. Analogous to a garbage collector freeing memory without an explicit statement. The "implicitness" only needs to occur at point of use of the class. The class library creator must of course explicitly implement a destructor or Dispose() method. Java/C# satisfy point 1. In C# a resource implementing IDisposable can be bound to a "using" scope: void test() { using(Resource r = new Resource()) { r.foo(); }//resource released on scope exit } This does not satisfy point 2. The programmer must explicitly tie the object to a special "using" scope. Programmers can (and do) forget to explicitly tie the resource to a scope, creating a leak. In fact the "using" blocks are converted to try-finally-dispose() code by the compiler. It has the same explicit nature of the try-finally-dispose() pattern. Without an implicit release, the hook to a scope is syntactic sugar. void test() { //Programmer forgot (or was not aware of the need) to explicitly //bind Resource to a scope. Resource r = new Resource(); r.foo(); }//resource leaked!!! I think it is worth creating a language feature in Java/C# allowing special objects that are hooked to the stack via a smart-pointer. The feature would allow you to flag a class as scope-bound, so that it always is created with a hook to the stack. There could be a options for different for different types of smart pointers. class Resource - ScopeBound { /* class details */ void Dispose() { //free resource } } void test() { //class Resource was flagged as ScopeBound so the tie to the stack is implicit. Resource r = new Resource(); //r is a smart-pointer r.foo(); }//resource released on scope exit. I think implicitness is "worth it". Just as the implicitness of garbage collection is "worth it". Explicit using blocks are refreshing on the eyes, but offer no semantic advantage over try-finally-dispose(). Is it impractical to implement such a feature into the Java/C# languages? Could it be introduced without breaking old code?

• Can't install Ubuntu 13.10 from 12.04 lts

  I have ubuntu 12.04 lts installed on my hp pavilion and I want to try 13.10. When I try to boot into the livecd, I get the purple ubuntu splash screen, then a blackscreen where some text flashes (to fast to see what it says) then it goes to a black screen and stays there. I know the installation disc is not the problem because I've successfully installed it on a different machine using the same disc. I've been trying to troubleshoot the issue for a while now and no luck. I have a radeon hd 8250 card. I know it's not much to go off of but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

• One subdomain is not working

  Hello there, My main domain works just fine - www.example.com and a subdomain set up by another developer works as well - sub1.example.com. But when I try to set another subdomain up I go through the process everything seems to work. The software creates the default files where the subdomain files should go. But when I try to browse there it doesn't work. My host uses Plesk to do all of the hosting stuff. What do you think the problem is? I doubt it is some sort of cache issue because I had problems on my phone which I tried after problems on the pc. Maybe for some reason Plesk needs time to set this up? I have used Cpanel before and that works instantly.

  I just installed ubuntu. things seems great but I have no sound. When I go to the settings menu I chose from various setup. I found one that work which had 4 speakers a subwofer and a front speaker. When I test it the sound works fine. However, when I try playing an *.mp3 file or try to watch a video on you tube I get no sound at all. I have a dual boot with windows XP and there is no problem in windows at all. Below is my setup. • Issues with HP Mini 110-1125NR

  Just finished installing Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin on my HP Mini 110-1125NR and im having small, but rather irritating issues. I installed it over the Windows 7 (starter) which came with the netbook. Firstly, it will only boot from the USB flashdisk. If i try to boot from the hardrive, it goes to a black screen. Second, built-in wireless wont activate. system says its enabled and on, but the light indicator is still orange (as if its off), and i cant get a signal from my home wi-fi I havent found any solved threads for inspiration, and mos of them are pretty old (1 year +) so i thought of giving a try to see if any of you guys System is: HP Mini 110-1100 1gb memory Intel Atom CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz x 2 Os - Precise Pangolin - Ubuntu 12.04 160gb Hard disk If any of you are aware of the solutions of my issues it'd be awesome Thanks in advance for any help!
