  • rpmbuild gives seg fault

    - by Deepti Jain
I am trying to build an rpm using the rpmbuild tool. I have source code which build binaries around 30 GB. This software for which I am making the rpm has dozens of executables. When I copy only the binaries of a single executable (Eg. init) my rpm builds successfully. But when I dump the entire build to the rpm, rpmbuild does everything but gives a seg fault in the end. Here is my spec file: # This is a sample spec file for wget %define _topdir /root/mywget %define name source %define release 1 %define version 1.12 %define _builddir /root/mywget/BUILD/glenlivet %define _buildrootdir /root/mywget/BUILDROOT %define _buildroot /root/mywget/BUILDROOT %define _sourcedir /root/mywget/SOURCES BuildRoot: %{_buildroot} Summary: GNU source License: GPL Name: %{name} Version: %{version} Release: %{release} Source: %{name}-%{version}.tar.gz Prefix: /usr Group: Development/Tools %description The GNU sample program downloads files from the Internet using the command-line. %prep %setup -q -n glenlivet %build cd %{_builddir} make all %install rm -rf %{_buildrootdir} mkdir -p %{_buildrootdir}/bin cp -p -r %{_builddir}/build/obj-x64/* %{_buildrootdir}/bin/ %files %defattr(-,root,root) /bin/* If I only copy some of the binaries (let say one utility and its dependent binaries) it works fine. But when I try to copy the entire build, I get a seg fault. I get the seg fault after rpmbuild has executed these sections: %prep %build %install rpmbuild also processes my source file. Processing files: source-1.12-1 Finding Provides: Finding Requires: Finding Supplements: Provides:...... Requires:...... Checking for unpackaged file(s):/ usr/lib/rpm/check-files /root/mywget/BUILDROOT Checking for unpackaged file(s):/ usr/lib/rpm/check-files /root/mywget/BUILDROOT Segmentation fault Any clue what wrong is going on or where does rpmbuild fails? Thanks in advance

  • Replacing UISplitViewController. New version isn't added for current orientation, frame size

    - by Justin Williams
My application has two different modes I am switching between by replacing the two views in a UISplitViewController. This involves instantiating the new views and a new UISplitViewController. I then set the new detail view as the UISplitViewController's delegate. I'm running into an issue where when I replace the view controllers and splitview controller, they are not properly sized or added for the current orientation. For instance, if I have my iPad in UIDeviceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown the view will be upside down when I call addSubview, but will rotate to the proper orientation after a second. In another instance, if I have the device in landscape mode and swap the views, the detail view controller is not fully stretched to the size of the view. If I rotate the device to portrait and back to landscape, its resized properly. The code I'm using to create the new split view and view controllers is as follows. - (void)showNotes { teiphoneAppDelegate *appDelegate = (teiphoneAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [appDelegate.splitViewController.view removeFromSuperview]; OMSavedScrapsController *notesViewController = [[OMSavedScrapsController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SavedScraps" bundle:nil]; UINavigationController *navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:notesViewController]; ComposeViewController *noteDetailViewController = [[ComposeViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ComposeView-iPad" bundle:nil]; UISplitViewController *newSplitVC = [[UISplitViewController alloc] init]; newSplitVC.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:navController, noteDetailViewController, nil]; newSplitVC.delegate = noteDetailViewController; appDelegate.splitViewController = newSplitVC; // Fade in the new split view appDelegate.splitViewController.view.alpha = 0.0f; [appDelegate.window addSubview:appDelegate.splitViewController.view]; [appDelegate.window makeKeyAndVisible]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:appDelegate.window]; [UIView setAnimationDuration: 0.5f]; [UIView setAnimationCurve: UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; appDelegate.splitViewController.view.alpha = 1.0f; [UIView commitAnimations]; [notesViewController release]; [navController release]; [noteDetailViewController release]; [newSplitVC release]; } Any suggestions for how to get the new splitview to add for the device's current orientation and frame?

  • popViewControllerAnimated not working, but back button works

    - by Manu
Hi, I am creating an application based on the Utility template. The main screen consists of a menu with several buttons, each of which creates a different flip-side view. In one of those flip-side views I also configured a Navigation Controller, which works perfectly as long as I have the NavigationBar activated... I can push the view but I have to use the "back" button to return to my flip-side view, which would be the root of the Navigation Controller. The problem comes if I try to go back using "popViewControllerAnimated", properly configured with a button, instead of the "back" button of the NavigationBar. My application crashes for some reason and I am not able to understand why. I could just use the "back" button in the NavigationBar and forget about the problem, but I would prefer to have my own button in order to go back. My app consists of the following: My APPDelegate.m: - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { MenuViewController *menuController = [[MenuViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MenuView" bundle:nil]; self.menuViewController = menuController; [menuController release]; menuViewController.view.frame = [UIScreen mainScreen].applicationFrame; [window addSubview:[menuViewController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } MenuViewController.m starting my flip-side view: - (IBAction)showFuelUpliftView { FuelUpliftViewController *controller = [[FuelUpliftViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FuelUpliftView" bundle:nil]; controller.delegate = self; controller.title = @"Fuel Uplift"; UINavigationController *navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:controller]; [navController setNavigationBarHidden: NO]; navController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES]; [navController release]; [controller release]; } FuelUpliftViewController.m, where I push the second view of the NavigationController with a button: - (IBAction)showFuelUplift2View:(id)sender { UIViewController *controller = [[UIViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FuelUplift2View" bundle:nil]; controller.title = @"Settings"; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; } And finally, my FuelUplift2ViewController.m, where the app crashes when trying to go back: - (IBAction)backFromFuelUplift2View { [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } I do not know if all this makes sense, I am currently beginning with my first application and am still learning thanks to the traditional trial an error method. Nevertheless, I cannot see the reason for this problem and would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks very much, Manu

  • msbuild TransformWebConfig task - doesn't work for App.configs?

    - by Jeff D
I have a windows service that will need to have the same kind of transformations that the web.configs would use, but VS 2010 doesn't seem to support that. I've tried manually adding the App.Release.Config files, and then using msbuil [PROJ] /T:TransformWebConfig /p:Configuration=Release but no transformation is performed. I got a TransformWebConfig folder createed in my obj subdirectory, but that's it. Is this thing hardcoded to only work with web.configs?

  • Why does 7zip Ignore my InstallPath when making a SFX installer?

    - by Ben
Currently, I am making a SFX with 7zip using the following config: ;!@Install@!UTF-8! InstallPath="C:\\test" GUIMode="2" RunProgram="7z465.exe" ;!@InstallEnd@! Which is used in: copy /b "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7zSD.sfx" + config.txt + ".\Release\Setup.7z" .\Release\Setup.exe When I run the resulting Setup.exe, It extracts fine and launches the 7z465.exe as well, but it is still extracting to some 7zip temp folder for the current user! Anyone have any idea why?

  • I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS when MaxConcurrentOperationCount > 1

    - by kudorgyozo
    Hello i am using NSOperationQueue to download images in the background. I have created a custom NSOperation to download the images. I put the images in table cells. The problem is if I do [operationQueue setMaxConcurrentOperationCount: 10] and i scroll down several cells the program crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Every time it crashes at the same place in the table. There are 3 cells one after the other which are for the same company and have the same logo so basically it should download the images 3 times. Every other time it works fine. - (void) main { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSURL *url = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:self.imageURL]; debugLog(@"downloading image: %@", self.imageURL); //NSError *error = nil; NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; [url release]; UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data]; [data release]; if (image) { if (image.size.width != ICONWIDTH && image.size.height != ICONHEIGHT) { UIImage *resizedImage; CGSize itemSize = CGSizeMake(ICONWIDTH, ICONHEIGHT); UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(itemSize); CGRect imageRect = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, itemSize.width, itemSize.height); [image drawInRect:imageRect]; resizedImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); self.theImage = resizedImage; } else { self.theImage = image; } [image release]; } [delegate didFinishDownloadingImage: self]; [pool release]; } This is how i handle downloading the images. If i comment out [delegate didFinishDownloadingImage: self]; in the function above it doesn't crash but of course it is useless. -(void) didFinishDownloadingImage:(ImageDownloadOperation *) imageDownloader { [self performSelectorOnMainThread: @selector(handleDidFinishDownloadingImage:) withObject: imageDownloader waitUntilDone: FALSE]; } -(void) handleDidFinishDownloadingImage:(ImageDownloadOperation *)imageDownloadOperation { NSArray *visiblePaths = [self.myTableView indexPathsForVisibleRows]; CompanyImgDownloaderState *stateObject = (CompanyImgDownloaderState *)[imageDownloadOperation stateObject]; if ([visiblePaths containsObject: stateObject.indexPath]) { //debugLog(@"didFinishDownloadingImage %@ %@", imageDownloader.theImage); UITableViewCell *cell = [self.myTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath: stateObject.indexPath]; UIImageView *imageView = (UIImageView *)[cell viewWithTag: 1]; if (imageDownloadOperation.theImage) { imageView.image = imageDownloadOperation.theImage; stateObject.company.icon = imageDownloadOperation.theImage; } else { imageView.image = [(TestWebServiceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] getCylexIcon]; stateObject.company.icon = [(TestWebServiceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] getCylexIcon]; } } }

  • Is there a way to automatically strip out trailing whitespace in code on commit to CVS?

    - by Steven Swart
Hi! We're using CVS, on every release we have to synchronise two different branches of code, and in every release cycle it's the same story, whitespace problems causing errors and wasting time. I'm looking for a way to automatically strip out trailing whitespace upon committing a file to CVS, unless explicitly forbidden, say by a command-line option. Is there a solution already available? If not, would anyone be interested if I wrote a plugin to do this? Regards, Steven

  • Issues dismissing keyboard conditionally

    - by Chris
    I have an app that has a username and password field. I want to validate the input before the the user is allowed to stop editing the field. To do that, I'm using the textFieldShouldEndEditing delegate method. If the input doesn't validate I display a UIAlertView. This approach works as advertised - the user cannot leave the field if the input doesn't validate. To have the done button on the keyboard dismiss the keyboard, I call resignFirstResponder on the textfield. The issue I have is the alert is being called twice. How do I keep the alert from showing twice? edit for clarification What is happening is that the alert appears, then another alert appears. I then have to dismiss both windows to fix the input. Here is the textFieldShouldEndEditing method -(BOOL)textFieldShouldEndEditing:(UITextField *)textField { NSLog(@"function called %@",textField); if([textField.text length] == 0) { return YES; } if(textField == userName) { if([self userNameValidated:textField.text]) { NSLog(@"name validated"); NSString *tempDonerName = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:(@"%@",userName.text)]; //[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:tempDonerName forKey:@"name"]; [tempDonerName release]; return YES; } else { NSLog(@"name did not validate"); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Invalid Username",@"Invalid Username title") message:NSLocalizedString(@"Please make sure there are no apostrophes,spaces in the username, and that the username is less than 12 characters",@"Invalid username message") delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"OK",@"OK Text") otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return NO; } } else if (textField == userPin) { if([self userPinValidated:textField.text]) { NSLog(@"pin validated"); //NSString *tempDonerPin = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:(@"%@",userPin.text)]; //[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:tempDonerPin forKey:@"pin"]; //[tempDonerPin release]; return YES; } else { NSLog(@"pin did not validate"); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Invalid Password",@"Invalid Pin title") message:NSLocalizedString(@"Please make sure there are no apostrophes in the password",@"Invalid password message") delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"OK",@"OK Text") otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return NO; } }else { NSLog(@"code validate - shouldn't get called"); return YES; } }

  • Nginx virtual server only partially working with Java application

    - by MFB
Final Cut Server is a Java application (made by Apple) which launches from a web page. I have Nginx in front of this web server (amongst others) and, whilst the web server can be browsed externally, the Java app fails to launch correctly and throws the errors below. • NSXMLParser Memory Allocation Efficiency for the iPhone

    - by Staros
Hello, I've recently been playing with code for an iPhone app to parse XML. Sticking to Cocoa, I decided to go with the NSXMLParser class. The app will be responsible for parsing 10,000+ "computers", all which contain 6 other strings of information. For my test, I've verified that the XML is around 900k-1MB in size. My data model is to keep each computer in an NSDictionary hashed by a unique identifier. Each computer is also represented by a NSDictionary with the information. So at the end of the day, I end up with a NSDictionary containing 10k other NSDictionaries. The problem I'm running into isn't about leaking memory or efficient data structure storage. When my parser is done, the total amount of allocated objects only does go up by about 1MB. The problem is that while the NSXMLParser is running, my object allocation is jumping up as much as 13MB. I could understand 2 (one for the object I'm creating and one for the raw NSData) plus a little room to work, but 13 seems a bit high. I can't imaging that NSXMLParser is that inefficient. Thoughts? Code... The code to start parsing... NSXMLParser *parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithData: data]; [parser setDelegate:dictParser]; [parser parse]; output = [[dictParser returnDictionary] retain]; [parser release]; [dictParser release]; And the parser's delegate code... -(void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qualifiedName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict { if(mutableString) { [mutableString release]; mutableString = nil; } mutableString = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; } -(void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string { if(self.mutableString) { [self.mutableString appendString:string]; } } -(void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName { if([elementName isEqualToString:@"size"]){ //The initial key, tells me how many computers returnDictionary = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithCapacity:[mutableString intValue]]; } if([elementName isEqualToString:hashBy]){ //The unique identifier if(mutableDictionary){ [mutableDictionary release]; mutableDictionary = nil; } mutableDictionary = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithCapacity:6]; [returnDictionary setObject:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithDictionary:mutableDictionary] forKey:[NSMutableString stringWithString:mutableString]]; } if([fields containsObject:elementName]){ //Any of the elements from a single computer that I am looking for [mutableDictionary setObject:mutableString forKey:elementName]; } } Everything initialized and released correctly. Again, I'm not getting errors or leaking. Just inefficient. Thanks for any thoughts!

  • Is this a valid LGPL scenario?

Suppose I have Project X under closed source. It references/links to component Y which is LGPL, we make modifications to component Y 1) We release Project X binaries with the source to the modified component Y OR 2) We contribute component Y modifications back upstream (to the original author(s)) and release Project X binaries without component Y source. Does any of these scenarios comply with the LGPL?

  • Best branching strategy when doing continuous integration?

    - by KingNestor
What is the best branching strategy to use when you want to do continuous integration? Release Branching - Unstable Trunk: or Feature Branching - Stable Trunk: Does it make sense to use both of these strategies together? As in, you branch for each release but you also branch for large features? Does one of these strategies mesh better with continuous integration? Would using continuous integration even make sense when using an unstable trunk?

  • How can one prevent MSBuild from rebuilding the entire project even when all targets are up to date?

I've got a Visual Studio solution I'd like to build using the commandline. MSBuild is usable for this purpose, and I've done a simple batch file that looks like this: msbuild ..\DDSCPP.sln /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform=Win32 msbuild ..\DDSCPP.sln /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform=x64 Unfortunately, that causes my entire solution to be rebuilt each time the command is run, rather than only building what has changed. Am I missing something here?

  • Babel Obfuscator: Sample effective post build event for free version

    - by JL
Does anyone have a sample post build event for Babel Obfuscator I can just copy and paste into my .net assembly release build configuration? The documentation for Babel is 54 pages long, and unfortunately doesn't come with any real world samples on how to use it with Visual Studio integration. Failing that , is there a free obfuscator out there that integrates well with VS 2008 post build, so that it will obfuscate the release DLL during each new build. I was using Eazfuscator which broke since they released version 2.8. Thank you

  • AVAudioPlayer crash after playing from an AVAudioRecord

    - by munchine
I've got a button the user tap to start recording and tap again to stop. When it stop I want the recorded voice 'echo' back so the user can hear what was recorded. This works fine the first time. If I hit the button for the third time, it starts a new recording and when I hit stop it crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS. - (IBAction) readToMeTapped { if(recording) { recording = NO; [readToMeButton setTitle:@"Stop Recording" forState: UIControlStateNormal ]; NSMutableDictionary *recordSetting = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithFloat: 44100.0], AVSampleRateKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: kAudioFormatAppleLossless], AVFormatIDKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: 1], AVNumberOfChannelsKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: AVAudioQualityMax], AVEncoderAudioQualityKey, nil]; // Create a new dated file NSDate *now = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:0]; NSString *caldate = [now description]; recordedTmpFile = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.caf", DOCUMENTS_FOLDER, caldate] retain]]; error = nil; recorder = [[ AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL:recordedTmpFile settings:recordSetting error:&error]; if(!recorder){ NSLog(@"recorder: %@ %d %@", [error domain], [error code], [[error userInfo] description]); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle: @"Warning" message: [error localizedDescription] delegate: nil cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return; } NSLog(@"Using File called: %@",recordedTmpFile); //Setup the recorder to use this file and record to it. [recorder setDelegate:self]; [recorder prepareToRecord]; [recorder recordForDuration:(NSTimeInterval) 5]; //recording for a limited time } else { // it crashes the second time it gets here! recording = YES; NSLog(@"Recording YES Using File called: %@",recordedTmpFile); [readToMeButton setTitle:@"Start Recording" forState:UIControlStateNormal ]; [recorder stop]; //Stop the recorder. //playback recording AVAudioPlayer * newPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:recordedTmpFile error:&error]; [recordedTmpFile release]; self.aPlayer = newPlayer; [newPlayer release]; [aPlayer setDelegate:self]; [aPlayer prepareToPlay]; [aPlayer play]; } } - (void)audioRecorderDidFinishRecording:(AVAudioRecorder *)sender successfully:(BOOL)flag { NSLog (@"audioRecorderDidFinishRecording:successfully:"); [recorder release]; recorder = nil; } Checking the debugger, it flags the error here @synthesize aPlayer, recorder; This is the part I don't understand. I thought it may have something to do with releasing memory but I've been careful. Have I missed something?

  • iPhone App Licenses

    - by Hilde VanJoose
Hi, After months of hacking, I am about to release my first iPhone app into the wild. Before I release I'm wondering if I should include some sort of licensing information in the help page of my app. Are all iPhone apps that are downloaded through the App Store covered under some sort of Apple license, or do I need to provide my own license information? If I do, are there any examples out there that I could use as a reference? Thanks very much!
