  • Get name given a phone number on the iPhone

    - by ganti
I'm using a TextField where the user types a phone number. When the TextField changes, it should check if this number is already in the phonebook and display the name. So far, my only way is to parse all names and number in a Dict and read it from there. Is there a simpler, more efficient and sophisticated way to do that?

  • Big, Thick Reference Books (PHP / MySQL / Unix) [closed]

    - by Josh K
I'm looking for in-depth reference books / guides in PHP, MySQL, and Unix. I'm aware there other other questions pertaining to good books for short references of function names, or detailed beginner guides to these systems. I'm looking for something different. I want a book that I can either use as a quick but in-depth (decent write up, not a pocket reference guide) reference to common functions (JOINS, string manipulation, Regular Expressions, etc) while also providing a detailed inner workings explanation on the system itself.

  • How do I select distinct rows where a column may have a number of the same values but all their 2nd

    - by Martin Rose
    I have a table in the form: test_name| test_result | test1 | pass | test2 | fail | test1 | pass | test1 | pass | test2 | pass | test1 | pass | test3 | pass | test3 | fail | test3 | pass | As you can see all test1's pass while test2's and test3's have both passes and fails. Is there a SQL statement that I can use to return the distinct names of the tests that only pass? E.g. test1

  • What's the right tool for this job in Google Spreadsheets?

    - by Daniel Harvey
Is it possible to nest simple programs within a Google doc spreadsheet, similar to how you would w/Basic in Excel? Or alternatively a simple = syntax using regex, if there is a way to do that in google docs? I want to take a list of multiple names(name1, name2, name3) in a single cell from across multiple identical sheets and transpose them to another sheet within the same spreadsheet, check for duplicates and ignore capitals, etc. Is there a way to do this?

  • t-sql get variable value from string with variable name

    - by Markus
Hi. Is there a way to convert '@my_variable' string into a value of @my_variable? I have a table which stores names of variables. I need to get the value of this variable. Something like this: DECLARE @second_variable AS NVARCHAR(20); DECLARE @first_variable AS NVARCHAR(20); SET @first_variable = '20'; SET @second_variable = SELECT '@first_variable'; --here I want that @second variable be assigned a value of "20".

  • CFPreferences for another (or all) users

    - by James Turner
I'm working on a background service which needs to ask several users' iTunes settings (the users will opt-in via a helper application which they run from their login). Is there an easy way to read the preferences for another user, than the current one, using CFPreferences? The docs, for example for CFPreferencesCopyValue, explicitly state: 'Do not use arbitrary user and host names, instead pass the pre-defined domain qualifier constants.', when passing the 'userName' argument to the various functions.

  • What is a de-compiler how does it work?

    - by thyrgle
So is a decompiler really a thing that gives gives the source of a compiled/interpreted piece of code? Because to me that sounds impossible. How would you get the names of the functions, variables, classes, etc if it is compiled. Or am I misinterpreting the definition? How does it work? And what is the general principal behind making one?

  • Problem with skipping login validation for authlogic

    - by Andrei
Hi, I want to use email for signing in, and to allow users to have similar names. One way to do this is to rename login/username field to something different. However, I want to do it just by setting up authlogic. I tried the following acts_as_authentic do |c| c.login_field :email c.validate_login_field false c.validate_email_field true end but it still complains that the login already exists. What must be done to avoid username validation without renaming the field?

  • Eclipse: find resource on classpath

    - by seanizer
Is there a way in eclipse to search the classpath for arbitrary resource file names (or patterns)? I know I can use either Navigate > Open Type (which will scan the classpath for classes) or Navigate > Open Resource, which will search for any resource type, but only in my project folders. Is there any way to achieve a combination ob both, to do a resource search (something like *.xsd) that searches all jars on the classpath?

  • What is the best .NET Obfuscator tool on the market?

    - by markattwood
I have tried .NET Reactor but it seems to break our complex application even with the most simple option (just rename method name). Also, it does not provide any option to filter method names by Regex like DotFuscator. DotFuscator is very good but it is too expensive. I have heard about Xeno code and other tools. Any one has any ideas on which one is best?

  • Should all resources in a java web application be uniquely named?

    - by morgancodes
Trying to understand resources in java-land. I believe the following is true: Resources loaded via the classpath have no namespace, they only have a file name. It's wisest to always load resources via the classpath, never via the file system, even in unit tests. Therefore, resources must always have unique file names, or collisions will occur. Are there flaws in my assumptions or my conclusion?

I have the following models user has_many :leave_balances leave_balance belongs_to :user belongs_to :leave_type leave_type has_many :leave_balances I want to output a table format showing user names and their balance by leave type. Not every user can have every balance i.e. outer joins required. I'd like to see something like this: Employee Annual Leave Sick Leave Bob 10 Fred 9 Sara 12 15 I am unsure how to get this out as a single statement? I am thinking something like User.joins(:leave_balances).joins(:leave_type)

  • Using XmlDiffPatch when writing to stream

    - by Mark Smith
    I am trying to use xmldiffpatch when comparing two Xmls(one from a stream, the other from a file) and writing the diff patch to a stream. The first method is to write my xml to a memory stream. The second method loads an xml from a file and creates a stream for the patched file to be written into. The third method actually compares the two files and writes the third. The xmldiff.Compare(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); method takes (XmlReader, XmlReader, XmlWriter). I'm always getting that both files are identical, even though they are not, so I know that I am missing something. Any help is appreciated! public MemoryStream FirstXml() { string[] names = { "John", "Mohammed", "Marc", "Tamara", "joy" }; MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); XmlTextWriter xtw= new XmlTextWriter(ms, Encoding.UTF8); xtw.WriteStartDocument(); xtw.WriteStartElement("root"); foreach (string s in names) { xtw.WriteStartElement(s); xtw.WriteEndElement(); } xtw.WriteEndElement(); xtw.WriteEndDocument(); return ms; } public Stream SecondXml() { XmlReader finalFile =XmlReader.Create(@"c:\......\something.xml"); MemoryStream ms = FirstXml(); XmlReader originalFile = XmlReader.Create(ms); MemoryStream ms2 = new MemoryStream(); XmlTextWriter dgw = new XmlTextWriter(ms2, Encoding.UTF8); GenerateDiffGram(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); return ms2; } public void GenerateDiffGram(XmlReader originalFile, XmlReader finalFile, XmlWriter dgw) { XmlDiff xmldiff = new XmlDiff(); bool bIdentical = xmldiff.Compare(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); dgw.Close(); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(SecondXml()); string xmlOutput = sr.ReadToEnd(); if(xmlOutput.Contains("</xd:xmldiff>")) {Console.WriteLine("Xml files are not identical"); Console.Read();} else {Console.WriteLine("Xml files are identical");Console.Read();} }
