  I'm using the twitter search API to get twitter posts based on some keywords, using AND and OR keyword. It works OK, but I seem to get problems using hashtags... For example : Not returning any results : http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q="%23ipad+AND+%23ipod"+OR+"%23joke+AND+%23funny"&rpp=100&callback=? Returning results : http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q="ipad+AND+ipod"+OR+"joke+AND+funny"&rpp=100&callback=? But there's results with #ipod AND #ipad because when I search only for #ipod, I can see a lot of posts with both hashtags. Example : http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q=%23ipad&rpp=100&callback=? P.S. %23 = # Any idea?

• How to escape/strip special characters in the LaTeX document?

  We implemented the online service where it is possible to generate PDF with predefined structure. User can choose a LaTeX template and then compile it with an appropriate inputs. The question we worry about is the security, that the malicious user was not able to gain shell access through the injection of special instruction into latex document. We need some workaround for this or at least a list of special characters that we should strip from the input data. Preferred language would be PHP, but any suggestions, constructions and links are very welcomed. PS. in few word we're looking form mysql_real_escape_string for LaTeX

Here is my situation: I work on JasperReport, for that: to export the report I just need pass the any Select query into the template, it will auto generated out the report EX : I have a select query like this: Select * from table A I don't know any column names in table A. So I can't use Select ROW_NUMBER() Over (Order By columsName) And I also don't want it order by any columns. Anyone can help me do it? PS: In Oracle , it have rownum very helpful in this case. For example, if I have the number 190 then I expect to find the more approximated value in the Enum to return the 192 (kbps_192 value of the Enum), if I have the number 196 then again I expect to return the value 192 (not return the next value 224 because is less approximated). • Return popupmenu selection in MATLAB using one line of code

  I have a GUI which uses a selection from a popupmenu in another callback. Is there a way to return the selected value of the popupmenu in only one line without creating any temporary variables? I've tried several solutions, but I've only managed two lines with one temporary variable: Three lines: list=get(handles.popupmenu1,'String'); val=get(handles.popupmenu1,'Value'); str=list{val}; Two lines: temp=get(handles.popupmenu1,{'String','Value'}); str=temp{1}{temp{2}}; Can anyone shave it down to one? PS, It's a dynamic menu, so I can't just use get(handles.popupmenu1,'Value') and ignore the string component altogether.)

  I want to make some changes in the following piece of code. And when you click on any thumbe, it disappears the thumbs and shows the updated votes. I want to make changes that in begining it shows vote up and vote down separately (which are stored in database separately). and after thumb up or down is pressed, it should not remove the thumbs, but it should show the updated vote up and down separatetly. • Joomla article not showing in the frontend but its visible in administrative part.

  I have a very big article to be put into our joomla site. At first I was getting "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 285487 bytes) in..." . But then I increased the memory_limit in php.ini . And I was able to create the article. Now I can view the article by logging into backend. But the article is not at all visible in the front end. If I click on the menu item pointing to that article, all I can see is a blank page with nothing in it. All other articles in the site are visible properly. Any idea? ps: I have enabled the error reporting to maximum, also ran the site in debugging mode. But saw nothing unusual.

• Passing parameters to service by URL - How do I discover the parameter names?

  Hi, I have a report to which I have execute-only access - I don't have the access to the RDL file. This report exposes several parameters which I would like to set from URL. I've successfully changed some parameters using the standard param=data form (as explained here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms153586.aspx). However, some parameters don't have the same parameter-prompt and parameter-name. Unfortunately, to pass parameter values by URL I must know the name of the parameter and I don't see how I can deduct from the report and its parameters prompt text. I've tried to inspect the source and post-data but to no avail. Anyone has an idea? Thanks P.S I also stumbled on this: http://odetocode.com/Articles/123.aspx. However, I wasn't able to connect to the web-services of my report server.

Why should I use them with try-catch(-finally) statement ? Is there any meaningful reason ? Is it only because that some people think that code is hard to read ?   I am working in Flash CS5 and I have placed a text field (dynamic, classic text) on the stage. The H, Ls, and D are gone. Mysteriously. Without warning. I am sitting here utterly confused. Is this just me? PS.   hello.. Am working on a personal project, where i need to manipulate values in a database-like format.. Up until now, am using dictionaries, tuples, and list to store and consult those values. Am thinking about starting to use SQL to manipulate those values, but I dont know if its worth the effort, because I dont know anything about SQL, and I dont want to use something that wont bring me any benefits (if I can do it in a simpler way, i dont want to complicate things) if am only storing and consulting values, what would be the benefit of using SQL? PS: the numbers of row goes between 3 and 100 and the number of columns is around 10 (some may have 5 some may have 10 etc)

  Let me try to explain by example. Say website is hosted at example.com (NOT www.example.com). In order to serve static content cookie-free, I've chosen to use a different domain example-static.com. Now, lets consider that my static content is currently served like this: http://example.com/js/script.js http://example.com/css/style.css http://example.com/media/image.jpg ** Now I create a CNAME record aliasing example-static.com to my main domain i.e. example.com so that the static content is served as such: http://example-static.com/js/script.js http://example-static.com/css/style.css http://example-static.com/media/image.jpg ** Is that all I have to do? Will all browsers execute JavaScript files and load web fonts without any security concerns? OR should I be using some .htaccess rules to modify header information and the like? PS: It would be great if you can provide what rules should be added, if need be.

  I have an std::vector of std::strings containing data similar to this: [0] = "" [1] = "Abc" [2] = "Def" [3] = "" [4] = "Ghi" [5] = "" [6] = "" How can I get a vector containing the 4 strings from 1 to 4? (i.e. I want to trim all blank strings from the start and end of the vector): [0] = "Abc" [1] = "Def" [2] = "" [3] = "Ghi" Currently, I am using a forward iterator to make my way up to "Abc" and a reverse iterator to make my way back to "Ghi", and then constructing a new vector using those iterators. This method works, but I want to know if there is an easier way to trim these elements. P.S. I'm a C++ noob. Edit Also, I should mention that the vector may be composed entirely of blank strings, in which case a 0-sized vector would be the desired result.

Is it good practice not to use break operator here ? I don't want to turn off "unreachable code detected" warning. PS: There are many case in my ProcessCmdKey method.

• How do you set a double value to a "non-value"

  I have two double data elements in an object. Sometimes they are set with a proper value and sometimes not. When the form field from which they values are received is not filled I want to set them to some value that tells me, during the rest of the code that the form fields were left empty. I can't set the values to null as that gives an error, is there some way I can make them 'Undefined'. PS. Not only am I not sure that this is possible, it might not also make sense. But if there is some best practice for such a situation I would be keen to hear it.

  In short, how to add minutes to a datetime from an integer located in another table, in one select statement, by joining them? I have a table P(int id, ..., int minutes) and a table S(int id, int p_id, datetime start) I want to generate a view that gives me PS(S.id, P.id, S.start + P.minutes) by joining S.p_id=P.id The problem is, if I was generating the query from the application, I can do stuff like: select datetime('2010-04-21 14:00', '+20 minutes'); 2010-04-21 14:20:00 By creating the string '+20 minutes' in the application and then passing it to sqlite. However I can't find a way to create this string in the select itself: select p.*,datetime(s.start_at, formatstring('+%s minutes', p.minutes)) from p,s where s.p_id=p.id; Because sqlite as far the documentation tells, does not provide any string format function, nor can I see any alternative way of expressing the date modifiers.

• Just an experiment changing the application data path

  When I change the Appication Data path in windows xp registry to a network folder I get this error message on the next system startup: "windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you with the default profile system" The registry keys are: "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]" "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]" under the names "AppData" and "Local AppData" I dont care if "Windows logins you with the default profile system" but is there a way to disable that message, or change the message timeout form 30 seconds to 0?,or maybe create an script that changes the Application Data path every system startup? P.S. The computer with the shared folder is always on.

  When you step back and look at ... the nature of animals, insects, plants and the problems they have organically solved perhaps even the nature and balance of the universe Have you ever been able to solve a problem by deriving an approach from nature? I've heard of Ant Colony Algorithms being able to optimize supply chain amongst other things. Also Fractal's being the "geometry of nature" have been applied to a wide range of problems. Now that spring is here again and the world is coming back to life I'm wondering if anybody has some experiences they can share.   In C, I am writing a program which is taking in user input than comparing it to see which output it should use. I am finding it problomatic and was wondering if someone could give me a hand.
