• How do you force a Linux process (Java webstart App) to stop locking a Filesystem (CD-ROM) WITHOUT k

  In Linux (CentOS 5.4), how do you force a process to stop locking a file system without killing the process? I am trying to get my Java Webstart Application, running locally, to eject a CD. I do not have this problem if I am just browsing through the files using a JFileChooser, but once I read the contents of a file, I can no longer eject the CD...even after removing ALL references to any files. Hitting the eject button will give the error (Title - "Cannot Eject Volume"): "An application is preventing the volume 'volume name' from being ejected" Thus, my goal is to tell the process to stop targeting the CD-ROM in order to free it up. Thank you for any help or direction!! Attempted Fix: -running the commands: sudo umount -l /media/Volume_Name //-l Lazy Unmount forces the unmount sudo eject Problem: When a new CD is inserted, it is no longer mounted automatically probably because the process is still "targeting" it.

• How can I avoid causing memory leaks in Firefox?

  It seems that there is a lot of information on memory leaks in IE and how web developers can avoid them, but I can't find much on avoiding leaks in FF. I've found lots of random tips on how end users can tweak their preferences, or tips for extension developers, but little on what I can do as a web developer to make sure my pages don't leak. Am I missing something? It seems lazy to just blame it on the user and say "you've got too many extensions". Or are the major patterns the same as in IE -- circular references and all that? Also, if anyone knows of any tools to troubleshoot leaks in FF, that would be great.   I am very new to unit testing. I have been following the procedures for creating a unit test in visual studio 2012 on http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/TechEd/Europe/2012/DEV214. The test just won't start. And it will prompt me "A project with an Output Type of Class Library cannot be started directly. In order to debug this project, add an executable project to this solution which references the library project. Set an executable project as the startup project. Even though I attached the unit test class code to a console program, the test does not start and the test explorer is empty. In the video, it doesn't need to have any running program. The lady only created a class library, and the test will run. what should I do? Note. there is no "create unit test" on the mouse right click menu

• latex table reference

  Hi, I wrote a long table with a label in a tex file and \input it into my main tex file. The reference in the main tex file to the table, however, does not show the numbering of the table but the one of the next table that are written directly in the main tex file. All long tables that are written directly in the main tex file have correct references. How to fix my problem? Must the label be defined in the same tex file as its reference? Thanks and regards! The label is \label{tab:yy}, and the reference is \ref{tab:yy}, and every table has a distinct label.

  Hi... I have the following class declared. I need to retreive the class structure and the static values without instanciate it. public MyClass() { public static string field = "Value"; public nestedClass() { public static string nestedField = "NestedValue"; } } I've successfuly used GetFields and GetNestedType to recover the class structure and GetValue(null) works fine on field, but not on nestedField. Let me sample: var fi = typeof(MyClass).GetField("field", BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Static); var nt = typeof(MyClass).GetNestedType("nestedClass", BindingFlags.Public); var nfi = nt.GetField("nestedField", BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Static); // All the above references are detected correctly var value = fi.GetValue(null); // until here everything works fine. value == "Value" var nestedValue = nfi.GetValue(null); // this one does not work!! Anyone knows why the last line does not work and how to work around? Thanks.

QTY is a derived column | Position | QTY -------------------- 1 Clerk 2 2 Mgr 2 Here's what I'm not having luck with: SELECT Position, Count(position) AS 'QTY' FROM tblemployee Where ('QTY' != 1) GROUP BY Position I know that my Position is set up as varchar(255) Count produces a integer data and my where clasue is accurate so that leads me to believe that that Count() is jamming me up. Please throw up an example so I can reference later. Thanks for the help!

• How do I use a contact's photo in a table view cell?

  I've got an app that has a table view that displays contact information in each row. I'd like to use the contact's stored image (if there is one available) as the image on the left-hand side of the cell. I've found some sketchy sample code in Apple's documentation, but the address book references some kind of weird data type (CFDataRef) that doesn't appear to correspond to the data types referenced in the table view programming guide (mainly UIImage). This seems like a pretty basic task, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

For this I am using a file named chicago.sty, Document compiles however I do not see any reference or citation.Instead I somehow get error when reading the paper.blg file: This is BibTeX, Version 0.99cThe top-level auxiliary file: paper.aux I couldn't open style file chicago.bst ---line 62 of file paper.aux : \bibstyle{chicago} What is a blg file, and how can I generate it from the .sty file so that my citations and references display properly. • Newbie SQL joining question: houses, refrigerators, and apples

  There are three tables in my database: apples, refrigerators, and houses. Each apple belongs to a refrigerator (it has a column that references the refrigerator that it's in), and each refrigerator belongs to a house. The problem is, each apple ALSO belongs to a house. I guess this isn't "normalized" or whatever, but it's the way it is. Obviously, each apple should belong to the house that its refrigerator belongs to. An apple can't be in two different places at once, after all. So, my question is this: what SQL statement will allow me to find all of the "bad apples" that for some reason incorrectly reference a different house than the refrigerator that they are supposedly in. In other words, I need to find the apples that contain contradictory information. I don't know if this is a "join" question or not, but I'm sure there's probably a very straightforward way of figuring this out. I just don't know what it is. Thanks for your help!

• Is my Perl script grabbing environment variabless from "someplace else"?

  On a Solaris box in a "mysterious production system" I'm running a Perl script that references an environment variable. No big deal. The contents of that variable from the shell both pre- and post-execution are what I expect. However, when reported by the script, it appears as though it's running in some other sub-shell which is clobbering my vars with different values for the duration of the script. Unfortunately I really can't paste the code. I'm trying to get an atomic case, but I'm at my wit's end here.

  Hi everybaody, I'm studing C++ and I can't understand the meaning of the boldface sentence below: From IBM manual: The following restrictions apply to constructors and destructors: Constructors and destructors do not have return types nor can they return values. References and pointers cannot be used on constructors and destructors because their addresses cannot be taken. Constructors cannot be declared with the keyword virtual. Which is why I get confused when I read references to both, such as in the quote below from an article on closures: Scope refers to where variables and functions are accessible, and in what context it is being executed. • is it possible to write data to a collection in wpf?

  Hello. In looking through samples I have seen a number of examples where it is possible to present data within a wpf applicaiton by binding to collections. However I was wondering is it possible to write to a collection from an applicaiton. Say for example i have 2 or more fields such as names and I wanted to have hte ability to add up to three names in my application ( all stored in memory). Will collections serve this purpose. In the past with asp.net I have done this by creating data tables and storing values on the fly or during the session. I am trying to learn WPF and I was wondering if collections work in the same fashion? If so could you please post an example or point me to references that show examples of this? • How do I create a list of timedeltas in python?

  I've been searching through this website and have seen multiple references to time deltas, but haven't quite found what I'm looking for. Basically, I have a list of messages that are received by a comms server and I want to calcuate the latency time between each message out and in. It looks like this: 161336.934072 - TMsg out: [O] enter order. RefID [123] OrdID [4568] 161336.934159 - TMsg in: [A] accepted. ordID [456] RefNumber [123] Mixed in with these messages are other messages as well, however, I only want to capture the difference between the Out messages and in messages with the same RefID. So far, to sort out from the main log which messages are Tmessages I've been doing this, but it's really inefficient. I don't need to be making new files everytime.: big_file = open('C:/Users/kdalton/Documents/Minicomm.txt', 'r') small_file1 = open('small_file1.txt', 'w') for line in big_file: if 'T' in line: small_file1.write(line) big_file.close() small_file1.close() How do I calculate the time deltas between the two messages and sort out these messages from the main log?

  I know that a primary key must be unique, but is it okay for a primary key to be equal to a different column in the same table by coincidence? For instance, I have 2 tables. One table is called person that holds information about a person (ID, email, telephone, address, name). The other table is staff (ID, pID(person ID), salary, position). In staff the ID column is the primary key and is used to uniquely identify a staff member. The number is from 1 - 100. However, the pID (person ID) may be equal to the ID. For instance the staff ID may be 1 and the pID that it references to may be equal to 1. Is that okay?

• How to separate model and view with Core Data?

  I have a subclass of UIView which draws itself based on data held in a corresponding model class, which is a subclass of NSManagedObject. The problem is, some fields in the data model (e.g. the position of the view) are already held in the view (i.e. the frame property in this case). I then have a data duplication/synchronization problem to solve. To complicate matters further, the view needs to update in response to changes made to the data model and the data model needs to be updated in responses made to the view (e.g. the user dragging it to a new location). What's the best way to solve this? Using KVO and references in both directions? Or is there a better approach?

• Stupid automatic assembly copy problem in Visual Studio 2008 - WTH am I doing wrong?

  My lazier side has apparently gotten the best of me. When I started to develop with .NET under VS2008 recently, I was very happy to see that all of the dependencies automagically got copied to my application's bin/debug folder upon compilation. This is fantastic. I never even bothered to look into how / why this is done. Yesterday, I decided to make another plugin very similar to an existing one, so I literally copied the folder and all of project files, then renamed the folder and manually edited the project files and file references. I also changed the assembly's GUID. Everything builds fine, but this particular assembly is never copied into my application's bin/debug folder. It is marked as a dependency of my app as well. What did I miss here?

• Design guide-lines for writing a Typed SQL Statement API ?

  Last night I came up to sometihng intersting while designing my new project that brought me to ask this qustion here. My project is supposed to follow Table Gateway pattern using tradional ADO.Net datasets for data access. I don't want to write plain queries in my data-access classes. So I came up with an idea of writing a parser kindaa api that exposes objects and methods to generate queries on the move based on my domain objects. Later I want this api to hook up to my Business objects and provide Typed SQL generator api right on the business object instances. Any idea or references how can I do this ? This seems very wide to start with that I'm compelled take your opinions here. Does there anything already exists that can do this ?
