• How does a debug build make reverse engineering easy?

  Some answer here stated that debug info would make it easier to reverse engineer the software. When I use Visual C++ and distribute an executable with debugging information but without other files (.pdb), will it contain any interesting things? I looked to the executable with a hex editor and found nothing like symbol names, for now I assume the .exe file just links to information in the .pdb files, right? Do you know whether it contains variable names? function/member names? line numbers? anything interesting? Thanks!

• How do you deal with UAC when creating a process as a different user?

  I am having an issue with UAC and executing a non interactive process as a different user (APIs such as CreateProcessAsUser or CreateProcessWithLogonW). My program is intended to do the following: 1) Create a new windows user account (check, works correctly) 2) Create a non interactive child process as new user account (fails when UAC is enabled) My application includes a administrator manifest, and elevates correct when UAC is enabled in order to complete step 1. But step 2 is failing to execute correctly. I suspect this is because the child process which executes as another user is not inheriting the elevated rights of my main process (which executes as the interactive user). I would like to know how to resolve this issue. When UAC is off my program works correctly. How can I deal with UAC or required elevated rights in this situation? If it helps any, the child process needs to run as another user in order to setup file encryption for the new user account.

But in the (TwitterCustomObject*)createPostFromArray:(NSArray*)postArray method all values are coming up as null.I thought it got added with this line of code in the twitterAPIcall method [twitterObjects addObject:twitterInfo];?

The first example that comes to mind, working as a sysadmin, is email accounts and their domains: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] ... What URL scheme would you suggest? At first I'd try: /domain/[domainname] /domain/[domainname]/account/[accountname] is that in line with RESTful principles? or should I go with something like: /domain/[domainname] /account/[account@domainname]/ or anything else?

• how to set charset for MySQL in RODBC

  I have a data with chinese characters as field names and data, I have imported them from xls to access 2007 and export them to ODBC. Then I use RODBC to read them in R, the field names is OK, but for the data, all of the chinese characters are shown as ?. I have read the RODBC manual and it said: If it is possible to set the DBMS or ODBC driver to communicate in the character set of the R session then this should be done. For example, MySQL can set the communication character set via SQL, e.g. SET NAMES 'utf8'. I guess this is the problem, but how can I provide this command to MySQL via RODBC? Thanks!

• Seam/JSF/Facelets Compiler or Validator (equivalent of JspC for JSP)

  Is there such a thing as JspC in the Seam/JSF/Facelets world? I used the Tomcat's JspC to validate a JSP/Struts application to validate if there are typos in the JSPs or some JSP was calling a Java function that didn't exist, etc. etc. From time to time I come across bugs in my current project (Seam/Facelets/RichFaces) where it's caused by a typo in action/value binding. And I think bugs like these can be caught using a program. Just wondering if someone has already written one. Basically a tool that can validate if the method/value binding are correct. I know this would be specially hard in Seam since names are Context sensitive and the tool should somehow figure out what the context is. But I think it should be easier to just check if the names are valid and the Objects bound to those names have the methods and/or properties being referred to in the JSF page. Thanks

  Hi, I am required to work on a php project that requires the database to cater to multiple users. Generally, the idea is similar to what they have for carbonmade or basecamp, or even wordpress mu. They cater to multiple users, whom are also owners of their accounts. And if they were to cancel/terminate their account, anything on the pages/database would be removed. I am not quite sure how should I design the database? Should it be: separate tables for individual user account separate databases for individual user account or otherwise? Kindly advise me for the best approach to this issue. Thank you very much.

  Im trying to get all of my posts in a delicious account to an MySql DB. Since delicious exports xml I think it wont be too complicated, but being new to it I cant really make sense of the api... I believe I have to query it as so: https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/all? But one catch is that im using an yahoo id for that account which I need to do it as follows: "To access data from accounts created using a Yahoo! ID, use the same API's as below, but change the path to /v2, and make HTTP requests using OAuth as provided by the Yahoo! Developer Network." I cant understand how to do it, can someone please help. Thanks. EDIT Although I still have the same doubt I figured out I can export the whole thing from the settings in my account, now I just need to get the html export in a xml file :) Also the yahoo method for accessing data, really is no good.

I want return success only if both the transactions succeeds. Say if password change succeeds and unlock fails i cannot send success or failure. So i want to create a rollback point before password change, if both queries executes successfully i will commit the transaction. If one of the query fails i will discard the changes by rolling back to the rollback point. I am doing this in C++ using ADO.   let w t f = have I missed something? do all value names in F# have to be a single char? preferably x? and do all method names have to abbreviated to a cryptic four chars?? we've had it rammed down our throats for years about descriptive variable/method names in other languages but now this doesnt apply to F#? or it is some coding 'style' bollox? Learning from code examples is hard enough with type inference. why make it harder?

There are three ways Upload to my account in public, private or protected mode Upload to department account in public, private or protected mode Upload to organization account in public, private or protected mode where public is visible to anyone, private to the group or person only and protected to anyone in the organization. All the files for an organization are stored in a directory say, /files/<organizationId>/, on file server like files +-- 234809 | +img1.jpg | +doc1.pdf +-- 808234 | +doc2.pdf I am storing file-path and privacy level in DB. So, I can control whether to show link to a file URL to an user -- on a given page. The problem is, I do not have any control over file's URL... so, if some one types the URL to img1.jpg in his browser's address bar, there is no way to know whether a logged in user is eligible to see img1.jpg.   We have a few tables with persisted computed columns in SQL Server. Is there an equivalent of this in Teradata? And, if so, what is the syntax and are there any limitations? The particular computed columns I am looking at conform some account numbers by removing leading zeros - an index is also created on this conformed account number: ACCT_NUM_std AS ISNULL(CONVERT(varchar(39), SUBSTRING(LTRIM(RTRIM([ACCT_NUM])), PATINDEX('%[^0]%', LTRIM(RTRIM([ACCT_NUM])) + '.' ), LEN(LTRIM(RTRIM([ACCT_NUM]))) ) ), '' ) PERSISTED With the Teradata TRIM function, the trimming part would be a little simpler: ACCT_NUM_std AS COALESCE(CAST(TRIM(LEADING '0' FROM TRIM(BOTH FROM ACCT_NUM))) AS varchar(39)), '' ) I guess I could just make this a normal column and put the code to standardize the account numbers in all the processes which insert into the table. We did this to put the standardization code in one place.

• Best way to optimize queries like this in Django

  I am trying to lower the amount of queries that my django app is using, but I am a little confused on how to do it. I would like to get a query set with one hit to the database and then filter items from that set. I have tried a couple of things, but I always get queries for each set. let's say I want to get all names from my DB, but also separate out the people just named Ted. Both the names and the ted set will be used in the template. This will give me two sets, one with all names and one with Ted.. but also hits the database twice: namelist = People.objects.all() tedList = namelist.filter(name='ted') Is there a way to filter the first set without hitting the data base again?

• multiple partial views mvc 2

  Hello World! Hi guys, I have a master page with two partial viewson it both of which submit to the AccountController. When I click Submit on either of the partial views the following happens: If I declare the partial views like Html.BeginForm("PartialAction1","Account") it redirects to that partial view on clicking submit instead bringing back the default HomeContoller Index view with validation errors. If I declare the partial view forms as Html.BeginForm() then it returns to the default index view of the home controller. But it actually fires both partial view actions inside the AccountController and thus returns validation errors for both partial views simultaneously. What I want is version 2 above with only one action firing instead of two. Am I missing, hopefully, something very simple? I hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction. • whmcs emails problem

  I am testing out the order process for a test webhost package I have already setup in whmcs. I have it set to automatically setup product upon first payment. When the order goes completes whmcs sends out only four emails to the new customer: "Order Confirmation", "Customer Invoice", "Invoice Payment Confirmation" and "Welcome". It does not send out a "New Account Information" email, which should contain the login details for cpanel. I can successfully log into the client area but not cPanel. I checked the account from my administrator area and I see where it says active and paid also. I have tried several times to setup a test account to see if it would send the email with the cpanel login but it never sends it, though it sends all others. Reply With Quote

  I am new to the Twitter API, and I looked at their whitelisting policies and I am a little confused... I'm basically writing a twitter aggregrator that crawls the public tweets of a set of users (not more than 200) hourly. I wanted to apply for whitelisting, and they seem to offer account based and IP based whitelisting. Since I am using a shared hosting, my outbound IP address might vary (and twitter does'nt allow IP ranges for whitelisting). So I am considering using account based whitelisting. However, while using OAuth, is it possible for me to use account based whitelisting for a background process that crawls the API hourly?

I have already read about it and seen some snippets of code, but still haven't been able to sort out a working solution.   I got another new account for the AppStore, I setup the new account certificates on my MAC. Now when I try to publish XCode gives me the error CodeSign error: Certificate identity 'iPhone Distribution: 'Name' appears more than once in the keychain. The codesign tool requires there only be one. How can I change my certificate identity for the other account? While I have to leave my Name as it is on both itunes profiles. How can avoid this problem without have to remove one certificate each time I need to publish app on appstore. Thank you.

  Dear Experts I am trying to scrape a lot of data from the European Parliament website for a research project. Ther first step is the create a list if all parliamentarians, however due to the many Eastern European names and the accents they use i get a lot of missing entries. Here is an example of what is giving me troubles (notice the accents at the end of the family name): ANDRIKIENE, Laima Liucija Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) So far I have been using PyParser and the following code: parser_names name = Word(alphanums + alphas8bit) begin, end = map(Suppress, "<") names = begin + ZeroOrMore(name) + "," + ZeroOrMore(name) + end for name in names.searchString(page): print(name) However this does not catch the name from the html above. For example, not all of my users have hooked up their facebook accounts to my website, but I still want to use this API method. I am getting the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught Exception: 453: A session key is required for calling this method thrown in /public_html/libs/facebook.php on line 413 But on the wiki it says that the method does not require a session key? If it is not possible to make API calls without such a key, is there anyway I can make calls on behalf of my account or my applications account (rather then a users account)?   I'm using the Picasa Web Albums Data API to access users' photo albums from a WPF application. I've followed the code located here: http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/clientlogin.html I have created a Picasa Web Albums account with a Google Apps (hosted) account. Whenever I tried logging in with my WPF application, I get the "BadAuthentication" error code returned. Hoping someone has an idea what I'm doing wrong. Note, that this works when I login with a normal Google account.   I have to write a simple demo for amount withdrawl from a joint Bank amount .Andy and Jen holds a joint bank account with number 123 . Suppose they have 100$ in their account .Jen and Andy are operating their account at the same time and both are trying to withdraw 90$ at the time being .My transaction Isolation is set to read-committed and both are able to withdraw money leaving the balance to -(minus)80$ although I have constraint that balance should never be less than 0. I am using hibernate .Is versioning only way to solve this problem or I should go for another Isolation level ?
