Assigning an @Annotation enum a value

I created enum Restrictions{ none, enumeration, fractionDigits, length, maxExclusive, maxInclusive, maxLength, minExclusive, minInclusive, minLength, pattern, totalDigits, whiteSpace; public Restrictions setValue(int value){ this.value = value; return this; } public int value; } So that I could happily do something like this, which is perfectly legal syntax. Restrictions r1 = Restrictions.maxLength.setValue(64); The reason being is, I am using enum to restrict the type of restriction that could be used, and be able to assign a value to that restriction. However, my actual motivation is to use that restriction in an @annotation. @Retention(RetentionPolicy.RUNTIME) @Target({ElementType.TYPE, ElementType.FIELD, ElementType.METHOD}) public @interface Presentable { Restrictions[] restrictions() default Restrictions.none; } So that, I intended to do this: @Presentable(restrictions=Restrictions.maxLength.setValue(64)) public String userName; to which, the compiler croaks The value for annotation enum attribute must be an enum constant expression. want to change background of table td on hover

I have a webpage that displays a calendar, and I want to change the background-color of any td that has their day number linked, so when I hover over that day, it changes the background-color. Why the "mutable default argument fix" syntax is so ugly, asks python newbie

Now following my series of "python newbie questions" and based on another question. Go to http://python.net/~goodger/projects/pycon/2007/idiomatic/handout.html#other-languages-have-variables and scroll down to "Default Parameter Values". There you can find the following: def bad_append(new_item, a_list=[]): a_list.append(new_item) return a_list def good_append(new_item, a_list=None): if a_list is None: a_list = [] a_list.append(new_item) return a_list So, question here is: why is the "good" syntax over a known issue ugly like that in a programming language that promotes "elegant syntax" and "easy-to-use"? Why not just something in the definition itself, that the "argument" name is attached to a "localized" mutable object like: def better_append(new_item, a_list=[].local): a_list.append(new_item) return a_list I'm sure there would be a better way to do this syntax, but I'm also almost positive there's a good reason to why it hasn't been done. So, anyone happens to know why?

Implementing rounded corners on slide down navigation menu

I am working on the slide down menu you can see here. I have rounded corners on both ul#navigation and ul.subnavigation. When the submenu slides down it is possible to see the border at the bottom of ul.subnavigation overlap with the content of ul#navigation, when I would like it to slide down smoothly, without the 'flicker'. I am aware that this issue is caused by the rounded corners. I need ul.subnavigation to cover the rounded corners at the bottom of ul#navigation when the menu drops down, without seeing the double border-bottom issue. I hope this is clear! Code is below. Application crashing in the iPad but working fine in iPad simulator.

Hi, I am writing a game in cocos2d. In the iPad Simulator the application is running good. While I am running the application in the iPad. But it was crashing by giving the following message in terminal. I am using 2048x2048 CCSpriteSheets in my code. I used instruments tool there is sudden increase in memory to 32MB before crashing. It is crashing at CCSpriteFrameCache . Custom login in Django

Django newbie here. I wrote simplified login form which takes email and password. It works great if both email and password are supplied, but if either is missing i get KeyError exception. According to django documentation this should never happen: By default, each Field class assumes the value is required, so if you pass an empty value -- either None or the empty string ("") -- then clean() will raise a ValidationError exception I tried to write my own validators for fields (clean_email and clean_password), but it doesn't work (ie I get KeyError exception). Hi all, I'm a student in my first C++ programming class, and I'm working on a project where we have to create multiple custom exception classes, and then in one of our event handlers, use a try/catch block to handle them appropriately. My question is: How do I catch my multiple custom exceptions in my try/catch block? GetMessage() is a custom method in my exception classes that returns the exception explanation as a std::string. rsync over ssh is not working anymore, while ssh itself is working fine (Write failed: broken pipe)

This issue started happening after i changed router. This is the scenario: Windows7 Host Ubuntu 10.04 Guest (VirtualBox) Ubuntu 10.04 remote server What i used to do is run a very basic rsync command: rsync -avz --delete /local/path/ username@host:/path/to/remote/directory This worked perfect until i did change adsl provider, and i changed router aswell: now, this happens: rsync on Ubuntu Guest is not working anymore (to any random server), if using this new router rsync on Ubuntu Guest is WORKING, if i switch back to old router i tried a new virtual box ubuntu install, and the command is WORKING with both the routers So, the not-working-combo is oldUbuntu + newRouter. To get things worst, i can state that (on the not-working ubuntu) i ping the remote host plain ssh connection to the remote host is working fine (i can auth, connect, and do stuff on the remote host) from ggplot2 to OOo workflow?

This is not really a programming question, but I try here none the less. I once used latex for my reports. But the people I work with needs to make small edits and do not have latex skillz. Openoffice is then the way to go. But saving ggplot images with dpi 100 makes for really ugly graphs. dpi = 600 is a no go (e.g. huge legend). So what to do? I currently save (still via ggsave) to eps - which openoffice can import. But performance is not good at all. Googling I found a bug for the poor eps performance in OOo, and also talk about a non-implemented svg feature. But none helps me right now. If you work with ggplot2 and OOo - What do you do? I have been unsuccesfull with pdf conversion for some reason.

jQuery default/placeholder input text and problems with saved information

Hey Guys, I'm new to jQuery and have an annoying problem. I have some login fields that are filled with default text when the field is empty and then removed when clicked. How do I show/hide an element in YUI as in jQuery?

In jQuery, when I want to show or hide something, I do this: $('#elementId').show(); $('#elementId').hide(); How do I do this with YUI? I've tried YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').hide(), asked my co-workers, looked at the documentation, and searched Google, and I've found nothing helpful. From the documentation, it looks like this should work YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').setStyle('display', 'none') but of course it does not. All I can think of is this, which sucks because then I'm not using a framework: document.getElementById('elementId').style.display = 'none';

adding a flash object to FancyBox using jquery swfobject

Fellows, I dont seem to be getting a solution. I have a a video gallery which I create by dynamically from a database. I have managed to create a flash object which plays well without FancyBox, however I want a person to click on the gallery and then an swobject is created which will then be show on a fancybox. css coding on Myspace - Problem

I've read what I could, and I'm certainly no master, but I'm fixing up a colleagues profile on myspace.com, and im working with 2 divs in each side of the screen, and I want them to align so that they are next to each other. CSS layout changes in Internet explorer

My problem: I just coded a website that is styled just fine in chrome and firefox. However in internet explorer(9) it breaks. the gray header background is supposed to be pushed up to the right of the logo block, and the buttons are supposed to be in the dark grey area. Site images don't refresh after setting expired headers on .htaccess

I have a site that uses a CSS sprite for all the images. I set the .htaccess file to set the expired headers to a future time as they recommend to improve site performance. However, when I updated the sprite image none of my browsers on two different computers seem to fetch the new image. I deleted the .htaccess serveral times but no luck. I am sure this must be easy as pie to fix but right now I am out of options. CSS Margin problem

I'm starting out in HTML and CSS. I have a div element on the page, which doesn't fill the whole page. In it- there's a ul element and some list items in it. I want to put the list 227px from the top of the div element, but I can't manage to accomplish this- it pushes it more. Also- between the list items I want a margin of 40 pixels, but it also does more. What's the problem? Hide jQuery Accordion while loading

I am testing a site build with a slow connection and I noticed the jQuery Accordion stays expanded for a long time, until the rest of the site is loaded, and then finally collapses. Not very pretty. I was wondering how I could keep it collapsed through the loading process and only expand when clicked. I am working with the standalone 1.6 version of the accordion plugin. Hiding/Unhiding Control in Gridview’s column - shifting problem

This is a follow up to my previous question: link text In gridview's column i have a linkbutton and a label under it. I want to hide/unhide label when linkbutton is clicked. I use javascript because i don't want any postbacks. Using Property Builtin with GAE Datastore's Model

I want to make attributes of GAE Model properties. The reason is for cases like to turn the value into uppercase before storing it. For a plain Python class, I would do something like: Foo(db.Model): def get_attr(self): return self.something def set_attr(self, value): self.something = value.upper() if value != None else None attr = property(get_attr, set_attr) However, GAE Datastore have their own concept of Property class, I looked into the documentation and it seems that I could override get_value_for_datastore(model_instance) to achieve my goal. Nevertheless, I don't know what model_instance is and how to extract the corresponding field from it. Is overriding GAE Property classes the right way to provides getter/setter-like functionality? If so, how to do it? Added: One potential issue of overriding get_value_for_datastore that I think of is it might not get called before the object was put into datastore. Hence getting the attribute before storing the object would yield an incorrect value.
