Setting a form field's value during validation

I read about this issue already, but I'm having trouble understanding why I can't change the value of a form's field during validation. I have a form where a user can enter a decimal value. This value has to be higher than the initial value of the item the user is changing. During clean(), the value that was entered is checked against the item's previous value. I would like to be able to re-set the form field's value to the item's initial value when a user enters a lower value. Is this possible from within the clean() method, or am I forced to do this in the view? Somehow, it doesn't feel right to do this in the view... (To make matters more complicated, the form's fields are built up dynamically, meaning I have to override the form's clean() method instead of using the clean_() method).

Is it faster to loop through a Python set of number or a set of letters?

Is it faster to loop through a Python set of numbers or a Python set of letters given that each set is the exact same length and each item within each set is the same length? Why? I would think that there would be a difference because letters have more possible characters [a-zA-Z] than numbers [0-9] and therefor would be more 'random' and likely affect the hashing to some extent. numbers = set([00000,00001,00002,00003,00004,00005, ... 99999]) letters = set(['aaaaa','aaaab','aaaac','aaaad', ... 'aaabZZ']) # this is just an example, it does not actually end here for item in numbers: do_something() for item in letters: do_something() where len(numbers) == len(letters) Update: I am interested in Python's specific hashing algorithm and what happens behind the scenes with this implementation.

If a Matlab function returns a variable number of values, how can I get all of them as a cellarray,

I am writing a function to remove some values from a cellarray, like so: function left = remove(cells, item); left = cells{cellfun(@(i) ~isequal(item, i), cells)}; But when I run this, left has only the first value, as the call to cells{} with a logical array returns all of the matching cells as separate values. How do I group these separate return values into a single cellarray? Also, perhaps there is already a way to remove a given item from a cellarray? I could not find it in the documentation.

jquery bubblepopup inside jquery carousel

Hi, I am trying to use the jquery bubble popup inside the jquery carousel. the problem everything works fine. but say if i have 10 items in the carousel, display 5 at a time, hiding the remaining 5 items(which could be opened by clicking the left or right navigation). so when we move the mouse over each carousel item that is visible on the screen, we can see the bubble popup. here, if i move the mouse over the empty area on the screen, i am still getting the bubble pop which shouldnt be visible because that particular carousel item is hidden.if i keep on moving over all the hidden items, i am able to see the bubble popup. is there anyway to hide the bubble pop when the carousel item is not visible on the screen.

How do I check if selected value of the ListBox is not selected in C#?

This code will display the selected value from the listbox. E.g. if I sellect Item 1 I will get the following output: You have selected Item 1. Label1.Text = "You have selected " + DropDownList1.SelectedValue + "<br />"; But if I don't select anything and click on Submit button, I will get: You have selected What would I need to make it display "You have not selected anything. Please select at least 1 item." UPDATE: I am using ASP.NET WebForms.

I have a django model as follows: class Person(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255) class Relationship(models.Model): parent = models.ForeignKey(Person) child = models.ForeignKey(Person) description = models.TextField(blank=True) In my view, I pass a certain person, and the relationships in which he/she is parent: person = Person.objects.filter(name ='some name') descendant_relationships = Relationship.objects.filter(parent = person) An I want to show this person's descendants in a list in a template: <ul> {% for item in descendant_relationships%} <li> {{item.child.name}} - {{item.description}} </li> {% endfor %} </ul> But this template code will not show the children of children (i.e. grandchildren, great-grandchildren etc.). How can I get these lower level descendants to show up? I imagine recursion is necessary somewhere, but where?

design function: underlying structure to store list of results for print to file

is this a good approach to print a list of items to csv file with a sublist attached to each item. The gist of the function is when an item is found that does not exactly macth then a list of close matches is generated - this works now writing out one list at a time to a command window. For export to a csv file I think all the lists must be generated, stored and then written at once. Right now I use a struct to store the attributes printed, each struct is an item on the list - these structs are then added to a sorted stack and when printed they pop off into write out. Is a stack of stacks of structs a good design?

Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to post this but here I go. I'm working on a project as a student for my internship and I need help. I have a masterPage with horizontal menu items as shown in the attached screen-captured. What I want to achieved is: Have a default image and description from SQL server database When a user mouse-over the menu item, display an image from a SQL server database and it description based on the mouse-over menu item. When user mouse-out, display default image and description from sql database. I have a also created user interface for inserting images to the database. HTML, CSS: how can I merge these divs in order to use float:left property on their children ?

hi, I've 2 sets of thumbnails and in each set I'm displaying them one nearby each other in 4 columns using float:left. I would like to "merge" the 2 sets (but I cannot change the html code) because I want the thumbnails of the second set floating right after the last thumbnail of the first set. In other terms, if in the last row there are only 2 thumbnails and the last 2 columns are empty, the thumbnails of the second set should fill the empty columns of the last row of the first set. Deselecting an element in jQuery

I have a collection of span elements. In the code I have a global variable that represents the "selected" object. Using the click event when a span is clicked I reset the object's class, reset the global variable, then set the object to the variable and change its class (to make it "highlighted"). I tried creating a click event on the body object, but that overrode the span click event so nothing was selected. I'm a complete jQuery noob and not sure where to go with this.

Not getting image in h:graphicImage in JSF

Hello, I have this very strange error with h:graphicImage This code works fine :- <h:graphicImage value="/Common/Images/#{item.templatePicName}"/> And this one doesn't :- <h:graphicImage alt="${app:getCommonImagePath(item.templatePicName)}" value="${app:getCommonImagePath(item.templatePicName)}" /> It only shows alt value /Common/Images/Sunset.jpg which is perfectly fine and works in 1st case. Then why doesn't it work in 2nd case? There are no problems with my images. This is a scenario created to help understand what Im trying to achieve. I am trying to create a method that returns the specified property of a generic object e.g. public object getValue<TModel>(TModel item, string propertyName) where TModel : class{ PropertyInfo p = typeof(TModel).GetProperty(propertyName); return p.GetValue(item, null); } The code above works fine if you're looking for a property on the TModel item e.g. string customerName = getValue<Customer>(customer, "name"); However, if you want to find out what the customer's group's name is, it becomes a problem: e.g. string customerGroupName = getValue<Customer>(customer, "Group.name"); Hoping someone can give me some insight on this way out scenario - thanks.

I predict what I can find some problems with validations. But I really need some fields created by user via admin-panel (now I'm talking about Item Properties, which can be changed in any time)

MySQL: Return grouped fields where the group is not empty, effeciently

In one statement I'm trying to group rows of one table by joining to another table. I want to only get grouped rows where their grouped result is not empty. Ex. Items and Categories SELECT Category.id FROM Item, Category WHERE Category.id = Item.categoryId GROUP BY Category.id HAVING COUNT(Item.id) > 0 The above query gives me the results that I want but this is slow, since it has to count all the rows grouped by Category.id. What's a more effecient way? I was trying to do a Group By LIMIT to only retrieve one row per group. But my attempts failed horribly. Any idea how I can do this? Thanks

Detect NativeDragDrop to Trash or RecycleBin

I will let user remove item from List with a cool method. Drag an item in adobe air List control and then drop it to Trash(OSX) or Recycle Bin(Win). The trash accept move drag action only. So I think I must set dragMoveEnable=true. When I drag an item to Recycle Bin on Windows. It show accept effect(alpha mask) and Air remove that object from List's dataProvider. So I can find which one is disappear. But when I drag to Trash on MacOSX. It show effect too. But Air do nothing for List. Maybe this is a bug. How can I avoid it? Are there any way to detect where dropped by user?

WPF Binding to Items within a collection? (or converter with parameters)

i am using a WPF DataGrid, and in my Details row, i would like to show separate objects within a sub collection of each grid item. Is it possible to have a finer control of Path? for example something like... Path=SubCollection['ItemX'] etc.. also, if i was to use a converter, i don't want to have to create a separate converter for each item.. so would there be a way to supply a parameter to a converter that could than determine which collection item to return??

What's the best way to use hamcrest-AS3 to test for membership in an IList?

I'm using Flex 3.3, with hamcrest-as3 used to test for item membership in a list as part of my unit tests: var myList: IList = new ArrayCollection(['a', 'b', 'c']).list; assertThat(myList, hasItems('a', 'b', 'c')); The problem is that apparently the IList class doesn't support for each iteration; for example, with the above list, this will not trace anything: for each (var i: * in myList) { trace (i); } However, tracing either an Array or an ArrayCollection containing the same data will work just fine. What I want to do is (without having to tear apart my existing IList-based interface) be able to treat an IList like an Array or an ArrayCollection for the purposes of testing, because that's what hamcrest does: override public function matches(collection:Object):Boolean { for each (var item:Object in collection) { if (_elementMatcher.matches(item)) { return true; } } return false; } Is this simply doomed to failure? As a side note, why would the IList interface not be amenable to iteration this way? That just seems wrong.

So here is my code: <?php $arr = array(array(2 => 5), array(3 => 4), array(7 => 10)); foreach ($arr as $v) { $k = key($v); if ($k > 5) { // unset this element from $arr array } } print_r($arr); // now I would like to get the array without array(7 => 10) member As you can see, I start with an array of sinwgle key = value arrays, I loop thorugh this array and get a key of the current element (which is a single item array). I need to unset elements of the array with key higher than 5, how could I do that? I might also need to remove elements with value less than 50 or any other condition. Basically I need to be able to get a key of the current array item which is itself an array with a single item.

Difference Between Two Lists with Many Duplicates in Python

I have several lists that contain many of the same items and many duplicate items. I want to check which items in one list are not in the other list. For example, I might have one list like this: l1 = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'b', 'c'] and one list like this: l2 = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'b'] Comparing these two lists I would want to return a third list like this: l3 = ['c'] I am currently using some terrible code that I made a while ago that I'm fairly certain doesn't even work properly shown below. def list_difference(l1,l2): for i in range(0, len(l1)): for j in range(0, len(l2)): if l1[i] == l1[j]: l1[i] = 'damn' l2[j] = 'damn' l3 = [] for item in l1: if item!='damn': l3.append(item) return l3 How can I better accomplish this task?

Creating interruptible process in python

I'm creating a python script of which parses a large (but simple) CSV. It'll take some time to process. I would like the ability to interrupt the parsing of the CSV so I can continue at a later stage. Currently I have this - of which lives in a larger class: (unfinished) Edit: I have some changed code.
