• HELP!! Implementing a search to match the specified author and displaying a book by the specified publisher

  Hey guys! So i'm having problems with my assignment. I successfully got it to run multiple last names by the author, but now, I need to find all books by author, which means searching the collection for all books that match the specified author and I also need to find all books by publisher, which displays a list of books by the specified publisher. How would I implement this? Would I use string or vector? Any help will be much appreciated!

• server automatically changes the case of files extensions

  I have the following problem, if I upload any file to my web server it automatically renames the file to an uppercase extension. For instance: If I upload picture.jpg my server automatically changes it to picture.JPG If I use <img src="picture.jpg"> my server returns a 404 error but if I use <img src="picture.JPG"> then the server displays the image. Can the .htaccess solve this issue? something with RewriteRule and RewriteCond? RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^$\.jpg [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1\.JPG [R=301,L] Any help will be greatly appreciated! • How to save multiple UIImage to a file iPad

  I have a PDF reader that displays pages of the document. What I want to do is allow the user to draw over the PDF in a transparent view. Then I want to save the drawing (UIImage) to disk. If at all possible, I don't want to have the documents folder filled with files like documentName_page01.png, documentName_page02.png for every page that is drawn over. However, I can't figure out how to store these UIImages into a single file without it becoming unwieldy and memory intensive. Any ideas appreciated.

• Why does this page look different between IE, Firefox & Chrome

  In Firefox it looks just like I want it to look, in IE it looks "a bit weird", and in Chrome it's all twisted. What non-standard HTML I am using that makes it looks so different between browsers? Specifically, how can I fix the Chrome & IE versions to look more like Firefox? Note that Chrome only goes haywire if all or almost all columns have the yellow stickies. If one or two columns are empty, then Chrome displays the page just like Firefox. The full HTML is at this pastebin.

  I already created a custom 404 page inside my web app deployed in JBoss AS 7.1. So if my app is at fubar dot com :8080/Myapp and I go to fubar dot com :8080/Myapp/xyzzy, I get the custom error page (defined in the web app's web.xml file). However, when I go to fubar dot com :8080/xyzzy, JBoss displays the default 404 page which discloses that it's JBoss and which JBoss version. I need to replace this page in order to hide this information. Please advise.

• Adding an integer onto an array

  I'm trying to add random numbers onto the end of this array when ever I call this function. I've narrowed it down to just this so far. when ever I check to see if anything is in the array it says 0. So now i'm quite stumped. I'm thinking that MutableArray releases the contents of it before I ever get to use them. problem is I don't know what to use. A button calls the function and pretty much everything else is taken care of its just this portion inside the function. • Different Rendering of SimpleModal on IE7 and Chrome

  Hey Guys I tried out Simple Modal for my modal dialog needs. The jQuery $(function() { $('#showDialog').click(function() { $('<div><p> Click Here! </p></div>').modal({ overlayClose: true, opacity: 30 }) }); }); The CSS was as follows: #simplemodal-overlay { background-color: #000; } #simplemodal-container { background-color: #333; border: 8px solid #444; padding: 12px; } In IE6 and 7, it displays a nice, very transparent, gray overlay with a dark small box in the middle with the text 'Click Here!'. But in CHROME (4.0.249.43) I get a dark black overlay with 100% opacity. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

• MySQL: Records inserted by hour, for the last 24 hours

  I'm trying to list the number of records per hour inserted into a database for the last 24 hours. Each row displays the records inserted that hour, as well as how many hours ago it was. Here's my query now: SELECT COUNT(*), FLOOR( TIME_TO_SEC( TIMEDIFF( NOW(), time)) / 3600 ) FROM `records` WHERE time > DATE_SUB(NOW(), INTERVAL 24 HOUR) GROUP BY HOUR(time) ORDER BY time ASC right now it returns: 28 23 62 23 14 20 1 4 28 3 19 1 That shows two rows from 23 hours ago, when it should only show one per hour. I think it has something to do with using NOW() instead of getting the time at the start of the hour, which I'm unsure on how to get. There must be a simpler way of doing this.

• What action is my Symfony/Doctrine generated form actually going to?

  In my Symfony 1.4 project I am using the doctrine:generate-admin task to create the modules that compose my backend system. One such module is "journeys". When I view the source of the "journeys/new" page (which displays the form to create a new journey entity) the action of the form is simply "journeys" (I expected it to be "journeys/create"). The "journeys" route on its own would call the executeIndex method - however I put a log call in there and upon form submission, the log is not made. So this leads me to believe that executeIndex is NOT being called, and another piece of code is being fired upon form submission that then (depending on a hidden input in the form) calls either executeCreate() or executeUpdate(). Problem is, I don't know where that would be happening. Any insight would be much appreciated. • Both Flash and Alternate Displaying In Firefox, Nothing but Errors in IE (sIFR)

  Hi guys, I've just installed and setup sIFR on my Magento store. An example page can be seen here: http://www.mint-creative.co.uk/shop And you can see it loads the heading brilliantly, but still displays the alternate text-only headline. I've quadruple checked the .css files and everything's loading ok I think. Also, in IE it doesn't display at all and every .css and .js file has an error according to the error log in IE8. Any help on this would be great as it's an urgent project! Cheers.

I'm no javascript master :) My intention is to add the code on very specific landing pages only, and display the message when people leave the page without downloading my trial software or reading other pages on my site.

• How do I use a contact's photo in a table view cell?

  I've got an app that has a table view that displays contact information in each row. I'd like to use the contact's stored image (if there is one available) as the image on the left-hand side of the cell. I've found some sketchy sample code in Apple's documentation, but the address book references some kind of weird data type (CFDataRef) that doesn't appear to correspond to the data types referenced in the table view programming guide (mainly UIImage). This seems like a pretty basic task, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

  I am trying to learn how to do stuff in Android, and I'm not sure of the best way to build the interface. I've been working on porting an iPhone app, which uses navigation controllers and table views for looking at the different sections: basically, someone touches a cell in the table, which drills down to another table. when they touch a cell on that table it drills down to a webview that displays the information. I want to do something similar for the android app, but I don't know how, or if there is a better way native to Android. I've figured out how to use the webview to my purposes, but moving forward and backward in the table tree is unclear.

• Dynamically add rows to listbox

  I have a list box that displays information off of a column of a dataset. I would like the number of rows displayed to be all the rows that are in the dataset (the number of datasets in the rows vary). I'm figuring it has something to do with ListBox.Rows = Dataset.Tables[0].Rows.Count; But it seems to just always default to 4 even when it is only 2. • IE6 forces Two clicks to trigger javascript style=display:inline; event

  I have a web form that has 2 radio buttons, depending on which one is clicked it displays a hidden element This works fine in all browsers except for IE6, which, after I click on the radio button, I have to click again (anywhere on the window) and then the element is displayed...has anyone had behavior like this before? • MVC Html.DropDownList closes prematurely in IE7

  I'm using ASP.NET MVC with jquery. I have a couple of dropdownlists. When I select one via mouse click and then scroll down over the items using the mouse/cursor, the list closes before a selection can be made, before the mouse can be clicked. This doesn't happen when I open them and then up/down arrow to select an item. It doesn't happen all of the time, but a lot. Just to try something different, I added a jquery "select" control with hardcoded values (options) and it displays the same behavior.   There is one server with multiple clients. The clients are viewing subsets of the servers entire data. If the data that a client is viewing changes, the client should be informed of the changes so that it displays the current data. Example: Two clients are viewing a list of users in an administration screen. One client adds a new user to the list and modifies the permissions of another user. The other client sees the changes propagated to their view. In the client side code I would like the users list to be updated by the framework itself, raising changed events such that it will be redrawn - similar to 'cells' or dataflow. • Image animation stops on minimizing and restoring

  I have a .NET WinForms application with an animated GIF in a PictureBox. It's a loading animation, shown while a BackgroundWorker does some processing in another thread. I load the image by setting the Image property and it animates on its own. All is fine until I minimize and restore the application. At which point, the image stops animating and just displays whatever frame it was last on. Note that: The background thread still runs fine and none of the "business" of the application is affected. Subsequently-displayed animated GIFs do work fine (unless the application is minimized again). Does anyone know what causes this problem? Any workarounds?

  Does that sound right to anyone???? I have an ItemsControl that displays data from a custom object that implements iNotifyPropertyChanged. The DataTemplate consists of: Border 3 buttons 5 textboxes An ellipse A Bindable RichTextBox (custom class that inherits from RichTextBox... so I could make Document a dependency property (to support binding)) Several grids and stackpanels for layout It uses: Styles (stored in a resource dictionary higher up the tree) Styles affect: colors, thicknesses, and text properties: which are data-bound to a "settings" class that implements iNotifyPropertyChanged, so the user can change display settings That's it! So what gives? I've also noticed that when I empty and remove the ItemsControl, memory isn't freed. over 5000 instances of "CommandBindingCollection" and "WeakReference" are CREATED (using ANTS profiler). And huge number of EffectiveValueEntry objects are created too. So really, what gives!!! :-) Thanks for your insight! Management needs this project soon but in its current state, it's unreleasable.
