  • Whats the best way/event to use when testing if the textbox text has finished a change of text

    using winforms, c#, vs 2008 So i have textbox1, textbox2 and textbox3 on a winforms. Textbox3.text = textbox1.text + textbox2.text. I need textbox3 to be updated whenever the contents of textbox1 and textbox2 have been changed either manually or programmatic. The problem is if i use textbox textchanged event it keeps firing as one types in the textbox. I need a way to call my method to fill textbox3 after either tb1 or tb2 have been FINISHED changing programmaticly or via key entry, and not fire everytime a letter of text is entered. How can I have TextBox3 update only when tb1 or tb2 have finished changing?

    Hi, I have a small issue with jQuery on Safari (Mac OSX 10.6) - the page loads fine under Firefox (Mac) and Internet Explorer (Win) but has to be refreshed to work properly in Safari... http://7souls.co.uk/store/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29788 If you hover over the image it is meant to show a magnified version to the right hand side - which works on the first page load on all browsers except Safari on the Mac. You have to refresh the page to get it to work under safari. Any Ideas, MM

    Hello, Hello, I am quite new to iphone development. I have a situation here. I have some labels which can be dragged across the screen. When any of these labels are dragged to some textfield and released over a textfields UIlabel test is assigned to that text field. Now the problem is this I want to assign the text of UILabel to some specific position in textfield according to release of textfield i.e If user releases at the beginning of text field then it should be appended at the beginning and if somewhere near end of text of textfield then it should be appendended at the end. Can you help me to fabricate this condition. Thanx in advance

  • jQuery Validation Plugin + equalTo Not Working

    Hey guys, Here is what I am currently using to attempt to validate a form. When I press submit with no values entered into the form, I get the error messages for each of the inputs as expected. However, no matter what I put in newpassword2 or newemail2 they never 'pass' validation. I've tried everything from copy and paste to making them one letter each to no success. Perhaps I am not using the equalTo attribute correctly... I've also verified that all the names of the selectors agree with the input id's on the form. Also, all of the inputs are contained within the form, so there aren't any outside of the form tags (I read that was an issue with someone else). $(document).ready(function() { $("#account_data").validate({ rules: { newpassword1: { required: true }, newpassword2: { equalTo: "#newpassword1" }, newemail1: { required: true, email: true }, newemail2: { equalTo: "#newemail1" } } }); }); Any help would be extremely appreciated!     I am working on parsing plain text and converting it to key-value pairs. For example, plain text: some_uninteresting_thing key1 valueA, valueB, valueC key2 valueD key3 valueE valueF key4 valueG(valueH, valueI) key5 some_uninteresting_thing valueJ some_uninteresting_thing key6 some_uninteresting_thing (key6 shouldn't be mapped because has no appropriate values) As you can see plain text is lenient. What java library can handle this? If no such library exist, any suggestions on algorithm to do this.

  • How do you keep text from wrapping in an NSTableView using NSAttributedString

    I have an NSTableView that has 2 columns, one for an icon and the other for two lines of text. In the second column, the text column, I have some larger text that is for the name of an item. Then I have a new line and some smaller text that describes the state of the item. When the name becomes so large that it doesn't fit on one line it wraps (or when you shrink the window down so small that it causes the names to not fit on a single line). row1=============== | image |  some name   | | image |   idle               | row2================ | image |  some name really long name   | <- this gets wrapped pushing 'idle' out of the view | image |   idle               | =================== My question is, how could I keep the text from wrapping and just have the NSTableView display a horizontal scroll-bar once the name is too large to fit?

  • Overriding content_type for Rails Paperclip plugin

    I think I have a bit of a chicken and egg problem. I would like to set the content_type of a file uploaded via Paperclip. The problem is that the default content_type is only based on extension, but I'd like to base it on another module. I seem to be able to set the content_type with the before_post_process class Upload < ActiveRecord::Base has_attached_file :upload before_post_process :foo def foo logger.debug "Changing content_type" #This works self.upload.instance_write(:content_type,"foobar") # This fails because the file does not actually exist yet self.upload.instance_write(:content_type,file_type(self.upload.path) end # Returns the filetype based on file command (assume it works) def file_type(path) return `file -ib '#{path}'`.split(/;/)[0] end end But...I cannot base the content type on the file because Paperclip doesn't write the file until after_create. And I cannot seem to set the content_type after it has been saved or with the after_create callback (even back in the controller) So I would like to know if I can somehow get access to the actual file object (assume there are no processors doing anything to the original file) before it is saved, so that I can run the file_type command on that. Or is there a way to modify the content_type after the objects have been created.

Seems there is no way to do that if the button has an icon (of course if you don't creat a new icon wich is text+former icon). Is that the only way? Anyone has a better idea?

    I've implemented a jquery counter script (count up from say 50 to 100 with different increments) that I found from this question: jQuery counter to count up to a target number The scripts works great except for in Internet Explorer 8 (and possibly other IE versions?). Here's an error message from IE with the URL to the creator of the script's demo. Message: 'undefined' is null or not an object Line: 32 Char: 17 Code: 0 URI: http://www.ulmanen.fi/stuff/counter.php I'm just wondering if anyone know how this can be fixed. I'm guessing it has to do with el.html() not finding any data but I can't really figure this out.     I am trying to make the buttons hide by default and they only become visible when the mouse is over.     I've search everywhere for a pointer to this, but can't find one. Basically, I want to do what everyone else wants to do when they create a polymorphic relationship in a :has_many, :through way… but I want to do it in a module. I keep getting stuck and think I must be overlooking something simple. To wit: module ActsPermissive module PermissiveUser def self.included(base) base.extend ClassMethods end module ClassMethods def acts_permissive has_many :ownables has_many :owned_circles, :through => :ownables end end end class PermissiveCircle < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :ownable, :polymorphic => true end end With a migration that looks like this: create_table :permissive_circles do |t| t.string :ownable_type t.integer :ownable_id t.timestamps end The idea, of course, is that whatever loads acts_permissive will be able to have a list of circles that it owns. For simple tests, I have it "should have a list of circles" do user = Factory :user user.owned_circles.should be_an_instance_of Array end which fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array NameError: uninitialized constant User::Ownable I've tried: using :class_name => 'ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle' on the has_many :ownables line, which fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array ActiveRecord::HasManyThroughSourceAssociationNotFoundError: Could not find the source association(s) :owned_circle or :owned_circles in model ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle. Try 'has_many :owned_circles, :through => :ownables, :source => <name>'. Is it one of :ownable? while following the suggestion and setting :source => :ownable fails with Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array ActiveRecord::HasManyThroughAssociationPolymorphicSourceError: Cannot have a has_many :through association 'User#owned_circles' on the polymorphic object 'Ownable#ownable' Which seems to suggest that doing things with a non-polymorphic-through is necessary. So I added a circle_owner class similar to the setup here: module ActsPermissive class CircleOwner < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :permissive_circle belongs_to :ownable, :polymorphic => true end module PermissiveUser def self.included(base) base.extend ClassMethods end module ClassMethods def acts_permissive has_many :circle_owners, :as => :ownable has_many :circles, :through => :circle_owners, :source => :ownable, :class_name => 'ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle' end end class PermissiveCircle < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :circle_owners end end With a migration: create_table :permissive_circles do |t| t.string :name t.string :guid t.timestamps end create_table :circle_owner do |t| t.string :ownable_type t.string :ownable_id t.integer :permissive_circle_id end which still fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array NameError: uninitialized constant User::CircleOwner Which brings us back to the beginning. How can I do what seems to be a rather common polymorphic :has_many, :through on a module? Alternatively, is there a good way to allow an object to be collected by arbitrary objects in a similar way that will work with a module?

  • Newbie Question: Read and Process a List of Text Files

    I'm completely new to .NET and am trying as a first step to write a text processing program. The task is simple: I have a list of 10,000 text files stored in one folder, and I'm trying to read each one, store it as a string variable, then run it through a series of functions, then save the final output to another folder. So far I can only manage to manually input the file path like this (in VB.NET): Dim tRead As System.IO.StreamReader Public Function ReadFile() As String Dim EntireFile As String tRead = File.OpenText("c:\textexample\00001.txt") EntireFile = tRead.ReadToEnd Return EntireFile End Function Public Function Step1() ..... End Function Public Function Step2() ..... End Function .............. I'm wondering, therefore, if there's a way to automate this process. Perhaps for example store all input file path into a text file then read each entry at a time, then save the final output into the save path, again listed in a text file.
