  Recently I installed Google Analytics on a Blogger account. I was shocked when I saw load times for the landing pages between 10 and 60 seconds. The blog uses Facebook like-box, twitter recent messages box, live traffic feed widget and Lockerz share buttons. Almost every post in this blog contains YouTube iframes which aren't nowhere near fast. Are there any well-known solutions for this type of problems?   can anybody recommend (of developers-opinion) such systems, where you can book tickets for concerts, conferences, etc. one should be able to book a seat as well, and it shell do the debitcard stuff, and has a good interface for accounting. • Would you make your website's source code public?

  Back story: My best friend is a self-taught coder for a community art site, written in PHP. Some time ago he mentioned he wanted to make the source code of the site public, to which my response was total horror - surely it was going to be full of security holes waiting to be found, and it was going to lead to hacking and errors on a huge scale. He never ended up doing it. Current story: I'm starting development of a community website built in Rails, and for ease of use I was going to use Github for version control. Then I realized it was pretty much exactly the same thing as my friend making his source code public - which made me stop and think. Would you make your website's completely-custom source code public? Or is this a case of open source gone too far? (note: I don't think this applies to people who run things like Wordpress. Or does it?)

• What's the best platform for blogging about coding ?

  I'm toying with starting an occasional blog for posting odd bits of coding related stuff (mainly C++, probably). Are there any platforms which can be recommended as providing exceptionally good support (e.g syntax highlighting) for posting snippets of code ? (Or any to avoid because posting mono-spaced font blocks of text is a pain). Outcome: I accepted Josh K's answer because what I actually ended up doing was realizing I was more interested in articles than a blog style, getting back into LaTeX (after almost 20 years away from it), using the "listings" package for code, and pushing the HTML/PDF results to my ISP's static-hosting pages. (HTML generated using tex4ht). Kudos to the answers mentioning Wordpress, Tumblr and Jekyll; I spent some time looking into all of them.

  I'm stuck with a crappy digital signage platform that only renders .html and .swf files (and rss feeds) No customization of rss, only way to show something dynamic in a pretty way is to use flash. The question: is there any way to embed javascript in swf files or somehow have facebook and twitter flash plugins? I looked for ready-made swf widgets for the job but didn't find any, if there is any flash widget that serves a facebook and/or twitter feed please give me a link. (sorry if the question is out of context but these things usually run a stripped-down browser to display everything so its pretty much a web page run from a file and not a web server)

• Finally found a replacement for my.live.com&hellip;

  As I had alluded to before, the transition of http://my.live.com/ to http://my.msn.com/ caused me serious grief. I've been an RSS addict for many, many years and I found the my.live.com UI to be the ultimate RSS reader and gateway to the web. It had been my home page for a long time.  My.msn has a LONG way to go before it matches the elegance and performance of my.live. The site I ended up going with is http://www.netvibes.com/ .   It’s the closest thing I could find that could do four column tiles with a reasonable amount of information density .  I’d still prefer a lot less “chrome” and better use of space, but it’s as close as I’m going to get… One feature I really do like about netvibes, is the pagination feature.  The built in feed reader is also quite nice… All-in-all, I’d recommend netvibes…

• Manual bootstrapping with Juju on VPS

  I recently bought a VPS (OpenVZ) with Ubuntu 13.04. Lately I've read about Juju and I thought it would match my needs on my brand new VPS as I want to easily configure Hadoop, Wordpress, Graphite and other services. I tried the juju-local approach but I got an error while installing it: http://paste.ubuntu.com/6373143/ So I got to #juju IRC channel and I was told to use "Manual bootstrapping" and create a question here in order to get more info as it seems is something under development. Could anybody help me getting Juju to work on my VPS? Did any had the same problem? Thanks in advance! EDIT: After some more research (and after reading my own question) I think I should clarify a little more the situation. What I want is a manual provider to allow me manage my VPS from Juju. I know there might be a work in progress and I would appreciate any info regarding it's state and any possible solution :)

• Mixing self signed certs with traditional SSL

  I have a traditional SSL cert going to a subdomain secure.mydomain.com on my domain. My host required me to have a dedicated IP in order to do this. I would also like to use HTTPS on my site for when I log into WordPress, etc. and since this is just for me, I don't mind self signing it and clicking through the scary messages. Is there a way to use a self signed cert for mydomain.com/wp-admin (just for me) when I already am on a dedicated IP that already has a traditional SSL cert for normal users on secure.mydomain.com? (FWIW, I'm on WHM without root access.)

  I am new to web hosting n stuffs, I am having a domain called www.yassershaikh.com from domainz.in, from where I had taken a LINUX hosting. I am running a wordpress blog there. Now I have taken a another domain from goDaddy called www.codera.org, now here I want to use Windows hosting, but that I am not planning to buy for atleast 6 months. So I was thinking if it's possible to use the hosting(LINUX) which I am using for my first site. Is this possible ? Please guide me on this please.   The purpose of this post is to guide you setting up the integration between UCM and SES. On my next post I’ll show different approaches to integrate WebCenter Portal, UCM and SES based on some common scenarios. Let’s get started. WebCenter Content Configuration WebCenter Content has a component that adds functionality to the content server to allow it to be searched via the Oracle SES. To enable the component installation, go to Administration -&gt; Admin Server and select SESCrawlerExport. Click the update button and restart UCM_server1 managed server. Once the managed server is back, we’ll configure the component. In the menu, under Administration you should see SESCrawlerExport. Click on the link. You’ll see the window below. Click on Configure SESCrawlerExport. Configure the values below: Hostname: SES hostname. Feed Location: Directory where data feeds will be saved. Metadata List: List of metadata that will be searchable by SES. After updating the values click on the Update button. Come back to the SESCrawlerExport Administration UI and click on Take Snapshot button. It will create the data feeds in the specified Feed Location. To check if the correct configuration was done, please access the following URL http://&lt;ucm_server&gt;:&lt;port&gt;/cs/idcplg?IdcService=SES_CRAWLER_DOWLOAD_CONFIG&amp;source=default. SES Configuration Let’s start by configuring the Identity Plug-ins in SES. Go to Global Settings -&gt; System -&gt; Identity Management Setup. Select Oracle Content Server and click the Activate button. We’ll populate the following values: HTTP endpoint for authentication: URL to WebCenter Content. Notice that /cs/idcplg was added at the end of the URL. Admin User: UCM Admin user. This user must have access to all CPOE content. Password: Password to Admin user. Authentication Type: NATIVE. Go back to the Home tab and click on Sources on the top left. Select Oracle Content Server on the right and click the Create button. Configuration URL: URL that point to the configuration file. Example: http://&lt;ucm_hostname&gt;:&lt;port&gt;/cs/idcplg?IdcService=SES_CRAWLER_DOWNLOAD_CONFIG&amp;source=default. User ID: UCM Admin user. Password: Password to Admin user. Click on the Authorization tab and add the appropriate values to the fields below. Make sure you see the ACCOUNT and DOCSECURITYGROUP security attributes at the end of the page. HTTP endpoint for authorization: http://&lt;ucm_hostname&gt;:&lt;port&gt;/cs/idcplg. Display URL prefix: http://&lt;ucm_hostname&gt;:&lt;port&gt;/cs. Administrator user: UCM Admin user. Administrator password. On the Document Types tab, add the documents that should be indexed by SES. As our last step, we’ll configure the Federation Trusted Entities under Global Settings. Entity Name: The user must be present in both the identity management server configured for your WebCenter application and the identity management server configured for Oracle SES. For instance, I used weblogic in my sample. Password: Entity user password.\ Now you are ready to test the integration on the SES UI: http://&lt;ses hostname&gt;:&lt;port&gt;/search/query/.
