• ASP.Net Architecture Specific to Shared/Static functions

  Hello All, Could someone please advise in the context of a ASP.Net application is a shared/static function common to all users? If for example you have a function Public shared function GetStockByID(StockID as Guid) as Stock Is that function common to all current users of your application? Or is the shared function only specific to the current user and shared in the context of ONLY that current user? So more specifically my question is this, besides database concurrency issues such as table locking do I need to concern myself with threading issues in shared functions in an ASP.Net application? In my head; let’s say my application namespace is MyTestApplicationNamespace. Everytime a new user connects to my site a new instance of the MyTestApplicationNamespace is created and therefore all shared functions are common to that instance and user but NOT common across multiple users. Is this correct?

• Why does jQuery do this in its constructor function implementation?

  If we look at the latest jQuery source at http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js we see the following: var jQuery = function( selector, context ) { // The jQuery object is actually just the init constructor 'enhanced' return new jQuery.fn.init( selector, context ); } My understanding of the new keyword in Javascript is essentially JavaScript passes the function an empty object {} and the function sets stuff on it via this.blah. Also from my understanding new differs from .call/.apply etc.. in that the return object also has the prototype set to that of the function. So the return value should have a prototype that the same as jQuery.prototype.init.prototype (or jQuery.fn.init.prototype). However from what I see its prototype is set to jQuery.prototype thus all the commands available to work on the set. Why is this? What am I missing in my understanding?

• How do I trigger a closing animation for a WPF ContextMenu?

  Does anyone know if it is possible to trigger an animation when a WPF ContextMenu closes? I have code that triggers an animation when the ContextMenu is opened. The animation makes the context menu fade into view. I also want an animation when the ContextMenu is closed that makes it fade out. The code that starts the opened fade-in animation looks something like this: var animation = new DoubleAnimation(); animation.From = 0; animation.To = 1; animation.Duration = TimeSpan.FromSeconds(0.2); animation.Freeze(); menu.BeginAnimation(ContextMenu.OpacityProperty, animation); The fade-in animation also runs on sub-menu items. Note that I also want to run other animations besides fade in and fade out. Eg I want the context menu to scale up from nothing so that it sort of 'bounces' into view.

I know i could've used ListView, GridView, Spinner, etc. but i'm relative new to android and i'm trying to figure out some things on it. Well, the question here is: Why is my onItemClick not firing? Using the same ImageAdapter with a GridView, everything works ok, but when i use with above class, i get nothing. Inside AdapterView.java there is code for those click, longclick, etc events... so why can't i just fire them? Maybe i'm misunderstanding basic things on how AdapterView works? Should I extend other base classes instead? And why? Hoping to find more experienced guidance on here, thanks in advance.

• httpOnly Session Cookie + Servlet 3.0 (e.g. Glassfish v3)

  By default, Glassfish v3 doesn't set the httpOnly flag on session cookies (when created as usual with request.getSession()). I know, there is a method javax.servlet.SessionCookieConfig.setHttpOnly(), but I'm not sure, if that's the best way to do it, and if yes, where the best place would be to put that line. BTW, of course it can't be done in the servlet itself (e.g. in init()): java.lang.IllegalStateException: PWC1426: Unable to configure httpOnly session tracking cookie property for servlet context /..., because this servlet context has already been initialized Generally, I would prefer to use a configuration option e.g. in web.xml.

• How do I override a Spring bean definition yet still reference the overriden bean?

  I'm attempting to implement a delegate Service provider by overriding the bean definition for the original service with my delegate Service. However, as the name would imply, the delegate Service needs a reference to the original service to delegate calls to. I'm having trouble figuring out how to override the bean definition while using the original bean def without running into a circular reference issue. I have to write a small routine to update this table, by sending in the LoginID and with help of IDirectory routines, get the Lastname, firstname and email. Previously I used a google form to manage member registration, but now as the number of users becomes quite big I am switching to mysql. Currently I have around 500 members in the database, saved in a google spreadsheet. How can I do a bulk import from a google spreadsheet to a table in mysql? • Inject a EJB into a JSF converter with JEE6

  Hi, I have a stateless EJB that acceses my database. I need this bean in a JSF 2 converter to retreive an entity object from the String value parameter. I'm using JEE6 with Glassfish V3 @EJB annotation does not work and gets a NPE, because it's in the faces context and it has not access to the ejb context. My question is: Is it still possible to Inject this bean (With a @Resource or other annotation, a JNDI lookup,...), or do i need a workaround? • Reducing memory for worker MPM in Apache

  I've moved from the prefork MPM to the worker MPM due to a process limit I was hitting on my VPS. However, memory usage increased after switching over (which is odd since the worker MPM is supposed to have a smaller memory footprint?). Most of them belong to php-cgi processes. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I have around 20 sites on it, each with a different fcgi wrapper script. Could that be a reason?

  I have an identity mapping like so: Id(x => x.GuidId).Column("GuidId") .GeneratedBy.GuidComb().UnsavedValue(Guid.Empty); When I retrieve an object from the database, the GuidId property of my object is Guid.Empty, not the actual Guid (the property in the class is of type System.Guid). However, all of the other properties in the object are populated just fine. The database field's data type (SQL Server 2005) is uniqueidentifier, and marked as RowGuid. The application that is connecting to the database is a VB.NET Web Site project (not a "Web Application" or "MVC Web Application" - just a regular "Web Site" project). I open the NHibernate session through a custom HttpModule. Can anybody suggest a fix or an alternate way to initialise the variable. I don't want to initialise it inside my map function since that slows down the entire process.

  I am using http://www.pnotepad.org/ (i wouldnt mind switching to something else if it lightweight and has most/all features i like which i'll check on a app by app basis) When i create a new tab/file and save it unless i write .txt i get a file with no extention. Which makes it hard to open since i cant double click it (i dont think i can tell win7 to set a default app for files with no extension) How do i make pnotepad save with a .txt when non are specified?

But the recipient did not receive the attachment. This has been asked before. But it looks like there is no solution other than to copy the db file to SD card. My question then is: What is the use of the MODE_WORLD_READABLE flag if another app like GMail is unable to read the file?

The intended output is 1 2 3 some xml 1 2 3 But unfortunately, the actual output is 1 2 3 some xml com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.dom.ElementNSImpl cannot be cast to testapplication1.IFoo Apparently, I need to use the annotations in a different way? Or to give up on JAXB and look for something else? I, well, can write "XMLNode toXML()" method for all classes I wan't to (de)marshal, but...

• Call REST service while impersonating a user that is already authorized to the glasfish server

  There are two web-applications deployed on a glassfish server. Both web applications provide a REST web service. the access to both web-services is secured via glassfish security constraints (at the moment BASIC Auth and file-realm). Let's say a user is accessing the service of web application A. After he is authorized, service A wants to call service B via REST client. Is there a way for a service to impersonate a user that is already authorized to the glasfish server? Maybe something like forwarding the security context or editing the headers? I've heard that it can be achieved using "Profiles" in Catalyst Control Center - I've found something called "Presets" in the latest 11.x version but can't figure it out (settings not being stored and applied properly). The square has to be a colour (specified dynamically) and contains a number as text inside it. • Entity update from ASP.NET MVC page with post to Edit action

  I have a form that posts back to /Edit/ and my action in controller looks like this: // // POST: /Client/Edit [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Edit(Client client) My form includes a subset of Client entity properties and I also include a hidden field that holds an ID of the client. The client entity itself is provided via the GET Edit action. Now I want to do entity update but so far I've only been trying without first loading the entity from the DB. Because the client object that comes in POST Edit has everything it needs. I want to update just those properties on the entity in datastore. So far I've tried with Context.Refresh() and AttachTo() but with no success - I'm getting all sorts of exceptions. I inspected the entity object as it comes from the web form and it looks fine (it does have an ID and entered data) mapped just fine. If I do it with Context.SaveChanges() then it just inserts new row..
