  • DIV overlap on top of submit order INPUT button not working right in IE7

    I created a test account at www.avaline.com: username: [email protected] pass:test02 I'll keep the account around so you can see what's going on with this submit button without going through the registration process (and needing to fill in a fake address, etc). If logging in doesn't work, you can create your own test account though. Make sure at least one item is in your shopping cart, hit "proceed to checkout", and check off "PayPal" as your payment method (this way the payment won't go through for testing purposes). Once you're on the "review and submit" page, in IE7 (at least), hover over the "pay with Paypal" button, and you'll see that the cursor is a hand when you hover over the text or the button border, but it's a regular arrow when you hover over the button part. If you try clicking on the arrow-cursor area, you'll get the error that you should see...but if you click on the hand-cursor area, you get redirected to the paypal page. In FF, the #hidSubm DIV covers the "Pay with Paypal" button. Why isn't it working in IE7?

I'm going to focus this question on LAMP stacks, given that they're the most popular option for shared hosting, but if you have an especially good experience with a different stack. Good shared hosting should be: Competitively priced - But not at the expense of... Fully featured - Email, PHP, MySQL, but what else? Highly customizable - Do you have access to advanced features like being able to deliver static content? Up to date - Do they run PHP4 as standard, or do they run the latest version? Customer service - When you have a problem are they rude and unhelpful? Do they take ages to reply? So how about it? Who have YOU have a good experience with?

  • 1and1: Unable to host an external domain

    I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this question, but I'm presently having difficulties with my hosting provider (1and1). Two weeks ago, two of my clients bought hosting from them on my recommendation, but as it turned out, 1and1 are having severe technical difficulties. Right now non of their hosting packages are able to accept ANY external domains. So either you pay the costs of transferring the registrar of your domain, or you use the ugly 1and1 domain name. Not any good for a hosting company of 1and1's reputation! They have been promising me for two weeks that they're going to fix the problem, but as you have probably guessed by now, that hasn't been the case. I would like to know if a) Anyone else is in the same boat as me, and b) If there are other comparably reputable hosting providers that I should consider moving to instead? Very disappointing! :( Note: This is for 1and1 in the UK. I imagine it isn't affecting users in other countries(?) Clarification: 1and1 are unable to accept ANY external domains. That means that even if you update your DNS details on your domain, their system cannot be updated to add your external domain to your account.

    I used Netbeans6.7 to write a servlet, when it runs, it opens a browser window with this address : http://localhost:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet, I replaced the "localhost" with my IP address, now it looks like this : http://192.???.1.??:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet, but I tried to access it from another computer outside my home, it can't read anything, I wonder if I need to change Windows Fire Wall setting to allow outside traffic, it's a Paypal IPN app, so I call Paypal, they said they can't access : http://192.???.1.??:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet What on my side should I do to allow traffic from "paypal.com" to access "My_App/Test_Servlet" ?   • Photo gallery for Blogspot blog

    I don't think this is entirely possible, but here we go: I have a friend who has a Blogspot blog. He has posts with text, posts with videos and posts with photos... and he was wondering if there's any way to turn the posts which are just photos into a thumbnail gallery screen on his blog. So for example, let's say he has 20 photo posts on his blog with the label Skiing Holiday 2009 (horrible example, I know). Is there a way of having a post created for his blog that displays those photos as thumbnails, linking through to their full size versions? I just don't think it's possible, but I'm really hoping someone will be able to offer a solution (or even a place where I could find a solution). Thanks a lot.

    For now I use some mix between virtual_env, pip and Fabric. This allows to: install required libs; generate dynamic content; isolate installation; push everything through ssh. It works well, I just want to know if there are other tools around. The only problem I could think of is that it's a lot of to set up every time. It doesn't solve database / media files migration issues either, but maybe I should just open another question for this specific subject. Eventually, I don't know how to automatize the server setup.   • Issues running python scripts in Command Prompt (Specifically with command line arguments)?

    I am trying to run my python scripts in DOS without calling python.exe first. I am specifically doing this in relation to running django-admin.py. I have C:\Python26 and C:\Python26\Scripts in my PATH. However, if I try running django-admin.py by doing: django-admin.py startproject helloworld I get the message: Type 'django-admin.py help' for usage. Now, after some experimentation, I realized the problem is that the secondary arguments to these scripts are not being passed for some reason, since I tried it with a some other python scripts I have. I know I could avoid this problem by simply doing: python C:\Python26\Scripts\django-admin.py startproject helloworld But I know it should be possible to run the first command only and get it to work, because I had it working before. I've looked everywhere, and not many places have been helpful so any idea would be useful for me at this point.

  • apache permission errors

    I'm trying to set up Apache on a arch-linux box as a testing environment (I'm only using the localhost, not trying to serve anything to the greater web). When setting up Django with mod_wsgi, it recommended that I set up a WSGIScriptAlias from / to /usr/local/django/mysite/apache/django.wsgi . I've done this, as well as added the /usr/.../apache directory to my httpd.conf. When I try to access http://localhost I get a 403 forbidden error. I have no idea why this is happening. Things I've tried so far: 1) chown -R http .../apache 2) chmod -R 777 .../apache 3) using a simple Alias directive to host a static file from that directory. None of these have worked. I'm at a loss for what I'm doing wrong. Below is a relevant excerpt from my httpd.conf: Alias / /usr/local/django/mysite/apache <Directory "/usr/local/django/mysite/apache"> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> So my question is: what am I doing wrong?

  • Eclipse Pydev Ctrl-Click (Go to Definition) Doesn't Work OSX

    My Pydev set up in OS X is kind of busted. I'm working on a Django project and I find that Ctrl-Click never actually goes to the definitions of any of my objects or functions. I actually have a symlink to Django/django in my workspace so that it's easier to cross reference Django code. My guess is that something is wrong with the builder, but it doesn't throw up any errors. Does anyone have advice here? Different topic: does anyone know of a good way to use Ctrl-Shift-R (Open resource) and filter files by folder? It's not that useful in python projects where you have 20 urls.py showing up.

  • SIMPLEST way to set up password protection for a static site, with basic admin UI?

    I have a static site. I would like the simplest approach to password protecting a directory, with a basic admin UI for adding/removing users. I will have so few users that I don't care about performance. I don't care if it's PHP or Django or whatever, I just want a complete software package. Apache basic auth isn't good, because you can't log out. Nor is there a UI for adding users. I tried throwing everything behind Django auth and serving the files through Django. However, Chrome treats all my text/css headers as text/plain, so I don't get any stylesheets showing. I can't use mod_xsendfile on my server because I can't reconfigure Apache to add new modules. I think this approach is overkill anyway. I can try configuring Nginx's X-Accel-Redirect, however that requires implementing all the Django code for auth myself, and I'd prefer an existing solution. However, this is my backup plan. Is there a code package that implements authentication with basic admin for a static site?

  • Self hosted PHP shopping cart with no storefront?

    I am looking for a shopping cart to implement on a simple website instead of the default paypal cart that is used with their add to cart buttons (I don't like the non-styeable new tab/window cart). However, I really like the ability to simply add the buttons to existing pages. I do not have a lot of products and do not want to deal with a storefront and complex templates. The main features I need: Self-hosted Easy to implement with existing website (copy and paste button code, etc.) Ability to have variations on one button with different prices (dropdown with sizes, colors, etc.) Ability to track inventory and disallow out of stock orders Ability to pass cart details to PayPal Website Payments Standard I have seen most of the large storefront options: oscommerce, zencart, cubecart, opencart, prestashop, magento, cs-cart, lemonstand, etc. but these are way more than I need. I don't need the storefront or customer accounts or templated pages, etc. I have seen e-junkie, which is not far off from what I would like, but it is not self-hosted and I would prefer an in-site cart (or dynamic overlay cart) rather than a lightbox or new tab/window cart. I also love the paypal minicart and its implementation, but there is no way to track inventory. So, does anyone have any recommendations that might meet these requests?

    I’ve posted the slides and samples to my DevConnections Sessions for anyone interested. I had a lot of fun with my sessions this time around mainly because the sessions picked were a little off the beaten track (well, the handlers/modules and e-commerce sessions anyway). For those of you that attended I hope you found the sessions useful. For the rest of you – you can check out the slides and samples if you like. Here’s what was covered: Introduction to jQuery with ASP.NET This session covered mostly the client side of jQuery demonstrated on a small sample page with a variety of incrementally built up examples of selection and page manipulation. This session also introduces some of the basics of AJAX communication talking to ASP.NET. When I do this session it never turns out exactly the same way and this time around the examples were on the more basic side and purely done with hands on demonstrations rather than walk throughs of more complex examples. Alas this session always feels like it needs another half an hour to get through the full sortiment of functionality. The slides and samples cover a wider variety of topics and there are many examples that demonstrate more advanced operations like interacting with WCF REST services, using client templating and building rich client only windowed interfaces. Download Low Level ASP.NET: Handlers and Modules This session was a look at the ASP.NET pipeline and it discusses some of the ASP.NET base architecture and key components from HttpRuntime on up through the various modules and handlers that make up the ASP.NET/IIS pipeline. This session is fun as there are a number of cool examples that demonstrate the power and flexibility of ASP.NET, but some of the examples were external and interfacing with other technologies so they’re not actually included in the downloadable samples. However, there are still a few cool ones in there – there’s an image resizing handler, an image overlay module that stamps images with Sample if loaded from a certain folder, an OpenID authentication module (which failed during the demo due to the crappy internet connection at DevConnections this year :-}), Response filtering using a generic filter stream component, a generic error handler and a few others. The slides cover a lot of the ASP.NET pipeline flow and various HttpRuntime components. A good part of this session deals with what’s involved in payment processing, getting signed up and who you have to deal with for your merchant account. We then took a look at integration of credit card processing via some generic components provided with the session that allow processing using a unified class interface with specific implementations for several of the most common gateway providers including Authorize.NET, PayFlowPro, LinkPoint, BluePay etc. We also briefly looked at PayPal Classic implementation which provides a quick and cheap if not quite as professional mechanism for taking payments online. The samples provide the Credit Card processing wrappers for the various gateway providers as well as a PayPal helper class to generate the PayPal redirect urls as well as helper code for dealing with IPN callbacks.   • Windows Server 2003 can't see Vista machine

    Hi there, I've got a real PITA problem that I'm sure has a really simple solution. I have a Windows Server 2003 machine that needs to be able to see the network name of a Vista box - but refuses to. It can see the Vista box (and even access its shared folder) if I enter the Vista box's IP address. Problem is: SQL Server refuses to do Replication with anything other than the "actual server name". That means that the 2003 machine needs to be able to connect through the Vista machines network name... not just its IP address. I'm guessing it's a simple incompatibility between OS's, but I'm sure there's got to be a simple way of fixing it. Note: Yes, the Vista machine can connect to 2003 machine, no problem. And other machines in the office can connect to both the Vista machine and 2003 (they have more recent OS's). Thanks for any help!

  • Task Scheduler not running .bat or .vbs successfully

    Hi there, got this weird problem, which will hopefully have an obvious solution for some enlightened soul: We have several daily tasks we run via a .vbs script on our server (through the Task Scheduler), and for months it has been fine, but recently we've hit a problem. The .vbs script stopped successfully executing... but oddly it worked fine when ran manually! The error given in these circumstances was always "Timeout". We thought we try a little creative thinking, and run the .vbs another way: Via a .bat file. Again we hit weird issues, but with a little more debugging information, this time around. The .bat file is nothing more than... CScript "C:\location\script.vbs" > Log.txt But the Task Scheduler fails with the following error: 0x1: An incorrect function was called or an unknown function was called. The log.txt file says: CScript Error: Initialization of the Windows Script Host failed. (Not enough storage is available to process this command. ) But get this: The .bat file executes perfectly (vbs script and all) if it's executed with a double click! There's only a problem when it's run by Task Scheduler. What the hell? We're running Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and yes, the Task Sheduler's results are the same whether the user is logged in or not. Also, the user that can run the scripts successfully manually, is also the same user that runs the scripts in Task Scheduler. Thanks for any help for this weird problem!

  • MemCached on Windows x64

    This question has previously been asked, but that was a year ago and I wanted to know if there had been any developments since then. Basically we'd like to use a MemCached Server on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine... which is only x64, obviously. I haven't found any details on a Win64 version of MemCached, but there is still the solution from the previous thread (which I haven't tried yet) to use a bit of software called MemCacheD Manager running MemCached 1.2.6. However, the current version of MCd is 1.4.4 and I was wondering if there had been any improvements since then.
