  • Back button title not receiving previous view controller's title

    - by Prasanna
    I am pushing 2 view controllers in to navigation stack in ApplicationDidFinishLaunching. [navigationController pushViewController:favorites animated:NO]; [navigationController pushViewController:root animated:NO]; The app loads fine, but on the start screen, the back button title is simply "Back". I do have a title for the FavoritesViewController, and a navigationItem title setup to Favorites. Am I missing something? Appreciate your help.

  • 3 embedded UIScrollView problem

    - by Infinity
    Hello guys! I have 3 UIScrollView. Here is a sample code, about how they are added in eachother: UIScrollView main; UIScrollView page1; UIScrollView page2; UIScrollView doublePage; UIView pageContent1; UIView pageContent2; UIView doublePageContent; int nrPages = 1; sw2 = 0; main = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 768, 980)]; main.contentSize = CGSizeMake(768 * (nrPages - 1 + sw2), 980); page1.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 768, 980); page2.frame = CGRectMake(768, 0, 768, 980); pageNumber = i - 1 + sw2; (i is a variable in a for loop) doublePage.frame = CGRectMake(768 * (pageNumber - 1), 0, 768 * 2, 980); CGFloat contentWidth = [page1 bounds].size.width + [page2 bounds].size.width; CGFloat contentHeight = page1 ? self.page1.bounds.size.height : self.page2.bounds.size.height; doublePageContent = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, contentWidth, contentHeight)]; [page1 addSubview:pageContent1]; [page2 addSubview:pageContent2]; [doublePageContent addSubview:page1]; [doublePageContent addSubview:page2]; [doublePage addSubview:doublePageContent]; [main addSubview:doublepage]; And with this structure the main scrollview don't want to scroll. Without the doublepage scrollview it is working good. What do you think? What's the problem? I know this structure is a little weird, but I need this structure because other parts of the code. Edited, added the information about the sizes. If you need something more please tell me. And one more thing.. If I add 1 pixel to the width of the doublePage contentSize.width it scrolls, but a bit hard, so it scrolls first in the doublePage and then in the main.

  • Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

    - by user141146
    Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it? Here is sample code showing what I'm trying to do Thanks!!! - (void)send_an_email:(id)sender { NSString *subject_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Summary of %@", commercial_name]; NSString *body_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@<br /><br />", [self.dl email_message]]; // email_message returns the body of text that should be shipped as html. If email_message contains special characters, the text truncates at the special character NSString *full_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"mailto:?to=&subject=%@&body=%@", [subject_string stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding], [body_string stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[[NSURL alloc] initWithString:full_string]]; }

  • Call an IOUSBDeviceInterface function on an obj-c object instead of a C structure

    - by b1onic
    Let's say I want to close an USB device. Here is a C structure representing the USB device: struct __USBDevice { uint16_t idProduct; io_service_t usbService; IOUSBDeviceInterface **deviceHandle; IOUSBInterfaceInterface **interfaceHandle; Boolean open; }; typedef struct __USBDevice *USBDeviceRef; Here is the code to close the device: // device is a USBDeviceRef structure // USBDeviceClose is a function member of IOUSBDeviceInterface C Pseudoclass (*device->deviceHandle)->USBDeviceClose(device->deviceHandle); Now imagine that the device properties are declared in an obj-c class @interface Device : NSObject { NSNumber idProduct io_service_t usbService; IOUSBDeviceInterface **deviceHandle; IOUSBInterfaceInterface **interfaceHandle; BOOL open; } @end How would I do to call USBDeviceClose() ?

  • Implementing scroll view that is much larger than the screen view with random images

    - by pulegium
    What I'm trying to do is to implement something like the fruit machine scroll view. Basically I have a sequence of images (randomly generated on the fly) and I want to allow the users to scroll through this line. There can fit approx 10 images on the screen, but the line is virtually unlimited. My question is what would be the best approach in implementing this? So far I've thought of having a UIImageView going across the screen (with width equal to the sum of 10 images) and the image associated with it would be a combination of 12 or so images, with two images falling out of the visible area, this would allow for smooth scrolling. If the user scrolls further, then I would reconstruct the image associated with the view so the new images are appended and the old one's are discarded. This image reconstruction business sounds bit complicated, so I was wondering if there's a more logical way to implement this. There's one more thing, I want to have two lines crossing each other with images, bit like conveyor belts crossing. If that makes any sense... Bit like below: V1 V2 H1 H2 H3 H4 H5 V4 V5 So if the vertical belt is moved it'd be like: V2 H3 H1 H2 V4 H4 H5 V5 V6 H1-H5, V1-V6 being automatically generated images. I'm not asking for the implementation code, just the thoughts on the principles how to implement this. Thanks!! :)

  • NSURLConnection receives data even if no data was thrown back

    - by Anna Fortuna
    Let me explain my situation. Currently, I am experimenting long-polling using NSURLConnection. I found this and I decided to try it. What I do is send a request to the server with a timeout interval of 300 secs. (or 5 mins.) Here is a code snippet: NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString]; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url cachePolicy:NSURLCacheStorageAllowedInMemoryOnly timeoutInterval:300]; NSData *data = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&resp error:&err]; Now I want to test if the connection will "hold" the request if no data was thrown back from the server, so what I did was this: if (data != nil) [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(dataReceived:) withObject:data waitUntilDone:YES]; And the function dataReceived: looks like this: - (void)dataReceived:(NSData *)data { NSLog(@"DATA RECEIVED!"); NSString *string = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:[data bytes]]; NSLog(@"THE DATA: %@", string); } Server-side, I created a function that will return a data once it fits the arguments and returns none if nothing fits. Here is a snippet of the PHP function: function retrieveMessages($vardata) { if (!empty($vardata)) { $result = check_data($vardata) //check_data is the function which returns 1 if $vardata //fits the arguments, and 0 if it fails to fit if ($result == 1) { $jsonArray = array('Data' => $vardata); echo json_encode($jsonArray); } } } As you can see, the function will only return data if the $result is equal to 1. However, even if the function returns nothing, NSURLConnection will still perform the function dataReceived: meaning the NSURLConnection still receives data, albeit an empty one. So can anyone help me here? How will I perform long-polling using NSURLConnection? Basically, I want to maintain the connection as long as no data is returned. So how will I do it? NOTE: I am new to PHP, so if my code is wrong, please point it out so I can correct it.

  • iphone scanning a dat file for data

    - by Brodie4598
    I am trying to remake a program I have made in C# in OBJ-C.In C# I used streamreader to search the data file for the line I am looking for then convert that line into a string that I can work with. I have looked at NSScanner but I'm not sure if thats quite waht I'm looking for but I'm by no means a cocoa expert. All I would like to be able to do is have it search a data file for an occurance of a string, then when/if it finds an occurance of that string, it returns the line that string was found on as a string. Any ideas?

  • Disable animation when moving CALayers

    - by Sean Clark Hess
    The following code animates the movement, even though I didn't use beginAnimations:context. How do I get it to move without animating? This is a new iphone view project, and these are the only updates to it. // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; sublayer = [CALayer new]; sublayer.backgroundColor = [[UIColor redColor] CGColor]; sublayer.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 100, 100); [self.view.layer addSublayer:sublayer]; } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { sublayer.position = [[touches anyObject] locationInView:self.view]; }

  • Objects in interface

    - by Peter Kowalchuk
    I created my own object, PKSurvey. In the interface of the View Controller I can define a pointer to it, then in a method I can alloc it and have an instance. How do I keep the instance beyond the method where it was allocated? I assign values in one method and want to be able to use those values in other methods. Should I allocate it in the viewDidLoad method or should I do it somewhere else? @interface DIrectionalDrillerViewController : UIViewController { PKSurvey *Survey=[PKSurvey new]; ---------------- - (void)viewDidLoad { [Survey new];

  • WebKitErrorDomain error 101

Because of the language issue could this be a keyboard problem, or an encoding problem?

  • NSMutableArray with only a particular type of objects

    - by Leo
    Hello, is it possible to specify that a NSMutableArray can only contain a certain type of objects. For example, if I want to store only this kind of objects : @interface MyObject : NSObject { UInt8 value; } In order to be able to use the instance variable like this : - (void)myMethod:(NSMutableArray *)myArray{ for (id myObject in myArray){ [self otherMethod:myObject.value]; } } because I'm getting this error : request for member 'value' in something not a structure or union Thank you for your help

Does anyone know how to pull the filename from the core data object. something like this would be great... NSLog (@"the filename is %@", [coreData filename]); Any ideas?

  • Giving another object a NSManagedObject

    - by Wayfarer
    Alright, so I'm running into an issue with my code. What I have done is subclassed UIButton so I can give it some more infomormation that pertain to my code. I have been able to create the buttons and they work great. Capiche. However, one of the things I want my subclass to hold is a reference to a NSMangedObject. I have this code in my header file: @interface ButtonSubclass : UIButton { NSManagedObjectContext *context; NSManagedObject *player; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSManagedObject *player; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSManagedObjectContext *context; - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame andTitle:(NSString*)title; //- (void)setPlayer:(NSManagedObject *)aPlayer; @end As you can see, it has a instance variable to the NSMangedobject I want it to hold (as well as the Context). But for the life of me, I can't get it to hold that NSManagedObject. I run both the @synthesize methods in the Implementation file. @synthesize context; @synthesize player; So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. This is how I create my button: ButtonSubclass *playerButton = [[ButtonSubclass alloc] initWithFrame:frame andTitle:@"20"]; //works playerButton.context = self.context; //works playerButton.player = [players objectAtIndex:i]; //FAILS And I have initilaized the players array earlier, where I get the objects. Another weird thing is that when it gets to this spot in the code, the app crashes (woot) and the the console output stops. It doesn't give me any error, and notification at all that the app has crashed. It just... stops. So I don't even know what the error is that is crashing the code, besides it has to do with that line up there setting the "player" variable. Thoughts and ideas? I'd love your wisdom!

  • Beat Detection on iPhone with wav files and openal

    - by Dmacpro
    Using this website i have tried to make a beat detection engine. http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article1952.asp { ALfloat energy = 0; ALfloat aEnergy = 0; ALint beats = 0; bool init = false; ALfloat Ei[42]; ALfloat V = 0; ALfloat C = 0; ALshort *hold; hold = new ALshort[[myDat length]/2]; [myDat getBytes:hold length:[myDat length]]; ALuint uiNumSamples; uiNumSamples = [myDat length]/4; if(alDatal == NULL) alDatal = (ALshort *) malloc(uiNumSamples*2); if(alDatar == NULL) alDatar = (ALshort *) malloc(uiNumSamples*2); for (int i = 0; i < uiNumSamples; i++) { alDatal[i] = hold[i*2]; alDatar[i] = hold[i*2+1]; } energy = 0; for(int start = 0; start<(22050*10); start+=512){ //detect for 10 seconds of data for(int i = start; i<(start+512); i++){ energy+= fabs(alDatal[i]) + fabs(alDatar[i]); } aEnergy = 0; for(int i = 41; i>=0; i--){ if(i ==0){ Ei[0] = energy; } else { Ei[i] = Ei[i-1]; } if(start >= 21504){ aEnergy+=Ei[i]; } } aEnergy = aEnergy/43.f; if (start >= 21504) { for(int i = 0; i<42; i++){ V += (Ei[i]-aEnergy); } V = V/43.f; C = (-0.0025714*V)+1.5142857; init = true; if(energy >(C*aEnergy)) beats++; } } } alDatal and alDatar are (short*) type; myDat is NSdata that holds the actual audio data of a wav file formatted to 22050 khz and 16 bit stereo. This doesn't seem to work correctly. If anyone could help me out that would be amazing. I've been stuck on this for 3 days.

  • Why does my UIScrollView change it's original content offset when I scroll?

    - by Tony
    Before I scroll, my UIScrollView is laid out perfectly. See here However if I scroll up, the view bounces as I go out of bounds and then resets too high. See here I am going to guess this has to do with a hack that I did earlier to get the view to originally show like in the first screen shot. For some reason, to get my view to look like the second screen shot, I do: [scrollView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(0,-50) animated:YES]; in viewDidLoad But if I set the content offset to 0,0 in viewDidLoad, I get something that looks like the second screen shot when the view loads. This doesn't make much sense to me because if the content offset is 0,0 I would think the content should begin in the upper right corner of the screen. Does anyone know what could be going on here? Thanks!

  • How to get title of UITabBarItem in the More section?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have a UITabBarControllerDelegate method that determines the title of the UITabBarItem and does something accordingly. This works well for items in my UITabBar but when I click on the More button the rest of my UITabBarItems are in a UITableView. How can I determine the title in the More section? - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if ([self.tabBarController.selectedViewController.title isEqualToString:@"All"]) { //do something } }
