    Yesterday i got to know about one more URL shortening service Saf.li. I think there are hundreds of websites offering such service. I always wonder how do such sites make money? After all they need money to host their data and code.     hello, explain me please how exactly pipe works, for example I have this snippet of the code set line = ($<) while(${#line} != 0) if(${#line} == 5) then echo line | sort | ./calculate ${1} endif set line = ($<) end I need to choose all rows with 5 words and after sort it and after transfer, but I'm confused, how will it work, first of all 'while' will take all information and after that transfer it to sort, or every iteration 'while' will do sort? thanks in advance

    Hi everyone! I need to translate colors in bitmap loaded to BufferedImage from RGB to YCbCr (luminance and 2 channels chrominance) and back after process. I made it with functions used like rgb2ycbcr() in main method for each pixel, but it isn't so smart solution. I should use ColorSpace and ColorModel classes to get BufferedImage with correct color space. It would be more flexible method, but I don't know how to do that. I'm lost and I need some tips. Can somebody help me?

    im sure you guys must have seen the shift happens video series. here's a link to them : http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=shift+happens&search_type=&aq=f also, the recent hungry beast video about google, which can be found here: (SO doesnt allow new users more than one hyperlink, so please search on youtube for this one) what i'd like to ask you guys is this: is there a program that enables such videos to be made quickly or is it really just the creative genius of the respective authors? i think vidoes like these are extremely useful when you want to make an impact and would find many uses for such a program in my line of work. im hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. ps. i DO know of animoto, so please dont suggest that :P the problem with animoto is that it doesnt allow text manipulation like these videos. to be fair, that is a great product in itself, but im sure if you take a look, you'll see the difference that im talking abuot.

    Hi Everybody, Greetings! I got surprised when the following program did not crash. typedef struct _x{ int a; char b; int c; }x; main() { x *ptr=0; char *d=&ptr->b; } As per my understanding the -> operator has higher precedence over & operator. So I expected the program to crash at the below statement when we try to dereference the NULL pointer tr. char *d=&ptr->b; But the statement &ptr->b evaluates to a valid address.     Hi, All! I have some Qt application with QPlainTextEdit in Tab widget. When try to make a pointer on it QPlainTextEdit *w = (QPlainTextEdit*)ui->tabWidget->widget(0) and call a document() method w->document() I get a segfault. But if i call document directly, e.g. ui-mainEdit-document(), then everything works fine. Can anybody explain me why it happens?

An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?)". I don't know why. Previous I used VisualStudio 2010 but my trial has expired. Is there any hope to run this on SharpDevelop?

  • PHPMailer safe practices - Send escaped / sanitized variables or not ?

    I'm using the PHPMailer-Lite class to build an email sending script and I'm not sure if I should use addslashses() on the $name variable when adding it to the constructor. If somebody's last name would be O'Riley (or any other name that contains characters which should normally be sanitized before handling) and I would send it unescaped, wouldn't it mess with the script/email sending ? Is it safe to send it unescaped ? As a side note, I would also like to avoid having my message body say "Hello, O\'Riley". Looking at the source, I saw that it only trims the whitespace and line ending (\r\n) characters from the received $name variable, so any advice on this would be more than welcome.
