• Do Google's feed statistics include former users?

  I'm currently not using any sort of fancy stat tracking software such as feedburner, but I occasionally look at Google's stats in their Webmaster Tools just to get a rough idea of whether the number of subscribers is going up or down. This only gives the number of users subscribed through Google products, as they explain in their help documents: Subscriber stats display the number of Google users who have subscribed to your feeds using any Google product (such as Reader, iGoogle, or Orkut). Because users can subscribe to feeds using many different aggregators or RSS readers, the actual number of subscribers to your site may be higher. I used to use Google Reader very regularly but haven't opened it in a while now. The way I understand it, this will mean that even though I haven't touched any of those feeds in a long time I'm still technically subscribed to them and will therefore be included in Google's statistic. Is this correct? Also since Google runs Feedburner, does this have any effect on their stats as well?

  Start with the NetBeans Paint Application and do the following to build it via Gradle (i.e., no Gradle/NetBeans plugin is needed for the following steps), assuming you've set up Gradle. Do everything below in the Files or Favorites window, not in the Projects window. In the application directory "Paint Application". Create a file named "settings.gradle", with this content: include 'ColorChooser', 'Paint' Create another file in the same location, named "build.gradle", with this content: subprojects { apply plugin: "announce" apply plugin: "java" sourceSets { main { java { srcDir 'src' } resources { srcDir 'src' } } } } In the module directory "Paint". Create a file named "build.gradle", with this content: dependencies { compile fileTree("$rootDir/build/public-package-jars").matching { include '**/*.jar' } } task show << { configurations.compile.each { dep -> println "$dep ${dep.isFile()}" } } Note: The above is a temporary solution, as you can see, the expectation is that the JARs are in the 'build/public-packages-jars' folder, which assumes an Ant build has been done prior to the Gradle build. Now run 'gradle classes' in the "Paint Application" folder and everything will compile correctly. Once the above works, we can start figuring out how to use the NetBeans Maven repo instead and then the user of the plugin will be able to select whether to use local JARs or JARs from the NetBeans Maven repo.   I'm working on a project where we have the source control set up to automatically write notes in the bug tracker. We simply write the bug issue ID in the commit message and the commit message is added as a note to the bug tracker. I can see only a few downsides for this practice. If sometime in the future the source code gets separated from the bug tracking software (or the reported bugs/issues are somehow lost). Or when someone is looking in the history of commits but doesn't have access to our bug tracker. My question is if having a bug/issue reference in the commit message is considered good practice? Are there some other downsides?

  I need to calculate the 3D camera position and rotation for each frame in a given video. This is typically used for motion-tracking, and to insert 3D objects into a video. I'm currently using VideoTrace to calculate this for me, and I'm getting the data exported as a 3DS Maxscript file. However when I try to use the 3D camera rotations, I'm getting strange errors in my 3D calculations, as if there is an error with the 3x3 rotation matrices. Can you spot any error with the data itself?   One of the most helpful tracing sections in WebCenter Content (and one that is on by default) is the requestaudit tracing.  This tracing section summarizes the top service requests happening in the server along with how they are performing.  By default, it has 2 different rotations.  One happens every 2 minutes (listing up to 5 services) and another happens every 60 minutes (listing up to 20 services).  These traces provide the total time for all the requests against that service along with the number of requests and its average request time.  This information can provide a good start in possibly troubleshooting performance issues or tracking a particular issue.   [Read More]

  I make a lot of use of Google Analytics - Google has reasonable tracking for location of users so I can tell where users come from. I know it is not 100% but it gives an idea. In the wake of Prism it is possible that more people will make use of networks such as tor for anonymous browsing. I have no problem with this, people can wear tin foil hats while browsing my site for all I care, but it will lead to more erroneous stats. Is there any way to flag traffic as coming from TOR, so I can filter location reports not to include it, and to get an idea of the percentage of traffic which does use it? Has anyone actually tried this?

Given that the same content is being accessed, should I use the same Google Analytics tracking code? Or should I create a new property and select "Not a website" when it asks for the website?
