    Ok, I have a site, and it serves all images and mp3s through a php script and can be controlled and limited, but I am now worried about overall bandwidth of my site. For example, what if someone just sends a million requests to one of my pages? Does anyone have any suggestions into server methods used to prevent this?   • lighttpd header.html and directory listing together doesn't work.

    I've an HEADER.html page and a lots of directories in the same directory and want to show the header.html and dir-listing together at the site index like at this site : http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.apache.org/ in my configuration : dir-listing.activate = "enable" dir-listing.show-header = "enable" it only shows header but not directory listing. Any suggestions?

    Are there any tools available that allow you to 'look' at any given application and show you which WinForm controls are being used in that application? I happen to have an app which I like the GUI of, and I want to use a similar structure in my own app. Instead of developing these controls myself, it may be easier to buy them, if only I can spot which are being used...     I need a set of tasks that need to be executed exactly once for the entire solution. This will run tasks that will modify each project to run a separate set of tasks for each project. We had done this earlier using a separate project to the solution which had the solution level tasks, but we want to move away from that. Has anyone done this or does anyone have any suggestions on how to implement this?

    I'm trying to extract some results from a download manager, the format is: [#8760e4 4.3MiB/40MiB(10%) CN:2 DL:4.9MiB ETA:7s] what I'd like to extract from the above example, would be an array that looks like this: ['4.3','MiB','40','MiB','10%','4.9','MiB','7','s'] I've tried to split this in various combinations, but nothing seems to be right. Would anyone happen to know how to do this or be able to offer suggestions? Thank you!

  • Maintaining file permissions across SVN updates?

    I have a series of python scripts with execute permissions in Linux. They are stored in SVN. If I then run svn up to update them, the overwritten files are back to 644 - ie no execute permissions for anyone. Yes I could just script it to chmod +x * afterwards, but surely there's a way to store permissions in SVN or to maintain them when you update? Any suggestions appreciated.

    I started off with C in school, went to Java and now I primarily use the P's(Php, Perl, Python) so my exposure to the lower level languages have all but disappeared. I would like to get back into it but I can never justify using C over Perl or Python. What real-world apps are being built with these languages? Any suggestions if I want to dive back in, what can I do with C/C++ that I can't easily do with Perl/Python?

Right now I have several overloads that add events to different types of controls: Public Sub AddEventHandler(Button, ButtonEvent) 'adds event handling for Button.Click public Sub AddEventHandler(LinkButton, ButtonEvent)'adds event handling for LinkButton.Click The problem is I want to write a function that is more robust like: Public sub AddEventHandler(Control, EventToHandle, ControlEvent) where EventToHandle is the parameter representing Button.Click or whatever event that Button has associated with it.
