  • Is there a common way to access files, that works both on android and PC?

    Hi, I'm writing an application that will ship in two versions: Android and PC version. Is there a simple way to access files from the shared code? Using java.io is simple, but I don't know how to access android resources or assets using it. And I can't write methods that operate on FileInputStreams instead, because some files contain references to another ones, so I need a way to access them from the method code. Any suggestions?

    I created a query in Microsoft Access like the one below: SELECT Deliverables.ID, Deliverables.Title, Deliverables.Summary, Deliverables.Header_Code, Deliverables.Header_Code.Value, Deliverables.Sort_order, Deliverables.Pillar, Deliverables.Pillar.Value, Deliverables.Misc_ID FROM Deliverables WHERE (((Deliverables.Pillar.Value)="Link Building")); But my problem is that this query locks my fields and I cannot make changes to the table using the query view. Any suggestions? I am using Microsoft Access 2007

    In VB.net the ANDALSO and ORELSE keywords should basically always be prefered over the AND and OR keywords. What is the easiest way to disable the AND and OR keywords? I'm thinking FXCop (maybe somebody has already written this rule). Maybe just some setting in VS (we're currently using 2008 and are moving to 2010 end of the summer) I'm open for all suggestions.

    I'm wondering how to implement prototypal inheritance in Python. It seems like the way to do this would be to either use a metaclass to cause instantiations to actually be classes, rather than objects, or use some magical powers to transform an existing object into a class. The second method would seem to be more flexible, in that it could be applied to existing objects of varied types, while the first would likely be more convenient for typical use cases. Insights on the practicality of these two approaches, as well as alternative suggestions, are hereby requested.

    I want to store the last 3 items in an MySQL database in an efficient way. So when the 4th item is stored the first should be deleted. The way I do this not is first run a query getting the items. Than check what I should do then insert/delete. There has to be a better way to do this. Any suggestions?

    I have a two column list consisting of a US zipcode and a count (number of customers in this case). I want to put this data onto a map. Would Google maps API be a good fit for this? It seems like this would be a common enough type of problem to already have an existing (preferably Java based) solution without having to re-invent the wheel. Any suggestions?

    Let's say I have an array in Matlab: x = [1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 2 2 3 3 3 1 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2 3 3 3] I want the indices of the most recent set of consecutive '1's. In this case, I want the answer: answer = [16 17 18 19 20] % (which should correspond to the last sequence of 1's) I need an automated way to do this in Matlab, that will work with any size arrays, always giving me the indices for the last set of consecutive 1s. Any suggestions?

"no black bar's or borders"".So,my question is how to set and run the app in compatibility mode.Any one having this issue please help on this issue.I have no idea to go forward. The web service should provide a consolidated view of the data. All the SQL Server Express instances have the same DB schema.   • Mysql console slow on import of huge sql files

    My import of sql via the mysql console is rather slow and as our sql file is increasing every day I would like to know if there are any alternatives on how to import a sql file faster. Changing to oracle or other systems is no option, the configuration has to stay the same. Currently the sql file is: 1.5 Gb I'm on Wamp with Apache 2.2.14, PHP 5.2.11 and MySQL 5.1.41. I am wondering if there is a easy way to use emacs that when I highlight a variable name I can go straight to where it is declared?     The beginnings of a site here: http://qaa.miltonfame.org/ html and css pass validation tests Page displays fine in all Mac browsers I have tried (Safari, Firefox, Camino) Page displays fine in Windows 7 FireFox Nothing but background renders in Explorer 8 Windows 7 (and in other Explorer versions via screenshot services.) View Source shows that Explorer is getting the content - it's just not appearing on screen. No idea how to approach addressing this - any suggestions would REALLY be appreciated. Thanks a million.
