  • How do I read a binary file in C#?

    I have a file that exists within a text and a binary image, I need to read from 0 to 30 position the text in question, and the position on 31 would be the image in binary format. What are the steps that I have to follow to proceed with that problem? Currently, I am trying to read it using FileStream, and then I move the FileStream var to one BinaryReader as shown below: FileStream fs = new FileStream(filePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read) BinaryReader br = new BinaryReader(fs) From there forward, I'm lost.

    Hi, Someday i've downloaded a very nice jquery editor but i lost it and i only have a screenshot of it. You just type a tag and press return or space and it's will be inside a nice box, and you can delete it by only pressing the backspace key or the close icon. Please don't suggest me That because it's so poor and the tags are inserted outside the input box. Thanks

    In your opinion and experience, what's best - working full-time and long-term for one company, or part-time short-term on many smaller projects or parts of projects? What do you think are the pros and cons of both? I heard that being a consultant is more profitable and one would pick up more experience. Does that beat an 8 hours by 5 days (thanks to Jon Limjap for correction :)) job of coding in a cubicle?

  • Open source equivelants to VS / web reference proxy classes?

    As an ASP.NET developer, I'm used to working with how VS/C# transparently autogens proxy classes for web references (yes, I know, we're spoiled), but now that I'm creating documentation for more than one coding platform I'm trying to discover what the equivelant to that is in any other framework. So is there a similar way to work transparently with web reference proxy classes for say, RoR, PHP, and Python? And if there's nothing integrated, are there tools you recommend to autogen the proxy classes, or do you recommend to roll custom classes?

  • Where to put Assertions?

    Hi, Having assertions for unexpected conditions is considered to be good defensive coding practice. I happen to place assertions whenever i think something unexpected may happen, but that now seems to be an overkill to me. Additionally, sometimes mild unexpected conditions that don't necessarily lead to crash may even cause failure on customer end. Is there a hard and fast rule to put assertions? Thanks.

  • php parse error always on the last line

    I'm trying to read a comment that is stored in a mysql table. For some reason I always get a parse error on the last line of the file even if the last line is blank. I'm not sure if it's relevant but the connect.php works for putting the comment into the database. I'm using wampserver to host it and coding it by hand. I think that's it's something to do with the while loop, when I comment out the while(){ and the } near the end I just get a few missing variable errors as you would expect. I'm quite new to php coding so I'm pretty sure the problem will be something simple that I've either missed or not understood properly.   • Any tips for how to build a LED sytem thet will light up to music?

    So basically I would like somehow that given an audio file as input (most likely mp3 or I can use some audio engine that will handle other types too) from my computer to control some LED lights so they will be something like an oscilloscope, like the one in winamp. Most of the examples that I can find online manage to show the dialog but any changes the user might make are lost which makes it useless.
