  • HP Envy dv6t-7300: Disabled WiFi through button and can't enable it anymore

    Well, I have a HP Envy dv6t-7300 laptop that came with a Ralink RT5390 WiFi card. Everything was working perfectly, and eventually I press the WiFi button in my keyboard to toggle the card on/off. Until today, all worked right: if the wifi was off (wifi LED amber) and I press the wifi button, after a few seconds the LED turn white and everything works. If I repeat the process, the wifi LED turn amber and the card get disabled, but now, I can't turn it on anymore. running sudo rfkill list all I get: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no 1: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes So, I ran sudo rfkill unblock all but nothing changed. As a side note, if I run sudo ifconfig wlan0 up, the indicator LED gets white (indicating that the card was enabled), but Ubuntu still say that the card is blocked by hardware. Extra information: the card works without issues in windows and in Ubuntu installer (booting from a live CD). I'm using the card out-of-box, using the drivers already included in Ubuntu 12.10. The module rt2800pci is loaded and working fine, not blacklisted, etc, etc. The card and the button toggle worked flawlessly until today, when I toggled it off and can't turn it on anymore... The problem is back, but in a different manner: if I don't press the wifi key a few times during the grub loading, in the login screen the wifi button will be ambar (disabled), pressing it will toggle it white (enabled) or ambar (disabled) again, but ubuntu still says that the network card was disabled by hardware and doesn't connect... In other words, if I don't press the WiFi button a few times when Ubuntu is booting, it will be stuck with the "network card was disabled by hardware" message, even if the light is white (enabled). Any clue? Maybe a error in some startup script or config file?

  • Making a table in a scrolling div resizable?

    I've got a table in a div, with a vertical scrollbar on the div to allow the table to be longer than the div can hold. Works fine. But I'd like to allow the user to resize the div vertically if they want to be able to view more of the table. I've been playing with the jQueryUI resizable interaction, but it doesn't seem to quite do what I want; at least, not so far. I've tried making the wrapper div resizable, but the behavior's erratic. If I have the style "height:20em; overflow:auto;" on it, then I can resize the table horizontally, but not vertically. If I remove the overflow, then the table flows outside the div of course. If I remove the height, then the table is actually resizable, but it is initially drawn at full height. Anyone know of a way to specify an initial height, but allow it to be resized larger than that? If I make the table resizable rather than the div, then I can resize the table horizontally within the div but I can't increase the height of the displayed table. Which makes sense, of course, but I thought I'd mention it. Also, is there a way to make the resize "handle" the corner between the horizontal and vertical scrollbars? Right now it's a sort of invisible handle in the bottom-right of the table. Thanks for any thoughts.

    I'm using JQuery to make an Ajax call. I used a sniffer to catch the response text: {"error_code":0,"message":"SUCCESS","data":{"session_token":"3efd9dde-a839-4e91-9415-4c2f6cba5b7b"}} But the response returned on the success callback is null. Anyone got any ideas? (see jquery code below.   • PHP script for creating calendar table or jquery complete solution required

Before I start trying to create the correct loops etc to create and style the table, i thought i best ask if there are already good jquery plugins / php classes create this visual interface and uncluttered enough to allow me to add a select date range method (like Google Analytics)? I'm looking for something to create a basic calendar table on a loop, which i can then style and add jquery features. Though worth asking if there's a complete package that already does what i plan on making?!! (jquery ui's date-picker doesn't look powerful enough / easy enough to modify)

    I've read all the answers on stackoverflow for similar questions but no one really laid down an explanation: why is zend/symfony/kohana/cakePHP the best for jQuery? what is the difference? I'm writing a snazzy ultra-cool web 2.0 app with google maps and facebook connect integration plus a bunch of other APIs. Almost everything will be AJAX vis JSON. For me PHP is a burden, an unnecessary evil. I need database control, almost always via JSON. I need user authentication. This is all. Nothing fancy. And I need it to scale. Most of all I need it to work effortlessly with jQuery, I need it to be jQuery's BFF, and I need to know why it is so. Thank you very much EDIT: The candidates right now are Yii, CodeIgniter and MongoDB.

  • JQuery with SMARTY php

    This might seem a very noob question but I haven't found the answer yet. I have a header.tpl file which contains xhtml code. I want to and some java script to it using jquery. But my problem is that it simple doesn't happen what I tell it to do. Because the page hoster comiples php with SMARTY I had to make a small change to the block script, which was had the {literal} {/literal}. But the rest seems ok. Btw the jquery.js is on the same folder as the header.tpl. File header.tpl http://feupload.fe.up.pt/get/SQWJvybQkDCmjEG PS: I event replaced all the code by the getstarted tutorial on the jquery homepage and added the {literlar} {/literal} (otherwise it would give an error) and it steel didn't work

  • Ubuntu 11.10 UI changed suddenly?

    10 64 bit on a Dell laptop that has 6GB RAM and 1GB graphic card. All of a sudden there were some sudden changes in UI which I am unable to understand why. The unity panel was initially glassy and transparent, now it looks all black in its background. Likewise the alt+tab graphics was working well until it got changed suddenly and now shows icons on pure white background. I've not tried to install any themes and I've not tried to tweak anything. Why did this UI changes occur? Could it be that it is unable to detect the graphic card or something? How can I fix this and how can I get back the original desktop back? Please help..

Where certain Javascript operations could be accomplished easier, without bringing jQuery into the mix. Or is this a rare case? (of a jQuery "shortcut" actually requiring more code) EDIT : While I appreciate the answers regarding jQuery vs. plain javascript performance, I am actually looking for much more quantitative answers. While using jQuery, instances where one would actually be better off (readability/compactness) to use plain javascript instead of using $(). In addition to the example I gave in my original question.

    UPDATE: I haven't figured out what's going on, but this definitely seems to be a problem with my project. After creating a simple test page, I was able to verify that getJSON does in fact return an XHR object like it's supposed to. Per the stackoverflow question/answer here: Kill ajax requests using javascript using jquery. and a number of other question/answers on this site and others, the jQuery Ajax methods should return the XHR object. However, when I run the following code, request is "undefined". var request = $.getJSON(url, function(data) { console.log(data); }); console.log(request); Did I miss a change in jQuery? I'm using 1.4.4.

    Hi To resolve a jQuery slideDown/Up problem, I had to change one line in the jQuery file. I changed line 5738 from this.elem.style.display = "block"; to this.elem.style.display = "inline-block"; The block attribute messed up my lists when using slideDown/Up/Toggle. slideDown changes my list from display:inline to display:block during execution, and then back to display: inline again. It would be much better if it was inline (or inline-block) all the way. Is there a way to override the value stated above from my html page, or do I have to stick with my modified jQuery file?     I'm running into a strange problem - I tried running a basic function in JS and jQuery, and while the former worked, the latter didn't. JS - okay alert('Works'); jQuery - not okay $(document).ready({ alert('Works'); }); Here's some facts: My references to the jQuery library are correct (And pretty sure my Internet connection is steady :) I'm using a CDN - CloudFlare to be exact, but I've switched development mode on and Rocket Loader off - so all the code I've uploaded to the server is WYSIWYG (CloudFlare adds some stuff in the tags if you leave Rocket Loader on. I tried running the alert code in the head section, and elsewhere in the body tags, to no avail. What could have possibly gone wrong?     I am building an ASP.NET MVC application that is AJAX-driven. For some reason I need to add some DOM elements on the fly when clicking a submit button. This is accomplished with jQuery.append(). One element inserted is a textarea, whose the data must be parse before submitting to ensure that no cross-site scripting can be done. We know that the Html.Encode() works great but must be declared outside a script tag. All I have done with jQuery is embedded within a script tag. 1) Is there a way to take advantage of the Html.Encode() within a script tag? 2) How can I accomplish this with jQuery? At worst I can use HttpUtility.HtmlEncode(), which is called on the server-side. Thanks for your help. Roland

    Hi, so I want to do something like when you press on LogOut, you get a waiting message like "please wait.." while its running ucp.php?mode=logout in the background, and after it has loaded that it should refresh the site. How should this be done??
