  • How to define an n-m relation in doctrine?

    - by murze
    If got a table "Article" and a table "Tags". Articles can have multiple tags and tags can hang to multiple articles. The class BaseArticle looks like this: abstract class BaseArticle extends Doctrine_Record { public function setTableDefinition() { $this->setTableName('article'); $this->hasColumn('article_id', 'integer', 8, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 8, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => true, )); $this->hasColumn('title', 'string', null, array( 'type' => 'string', 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, )); $this->hasColumn('text', 'string', null, array( 'type' => 'string', 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, $this->hasColumn('url', 'string', 255, array( 'type' => 'string', 'length' => 255, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, )); } public function setUp() { parent::setUp(); $this->hasMany('Tag as Tags', array( 'local' => 'article_id', 'foreign'=>'tag_id', 'refClass'=>'Articletag') ); } } The BaseTag-class like this: abstract class BaseTag extends Doctrine_Record { public function setTableDefinition() { $this->setTableName('tag'); $this->hasColumn('tag_id', 'integer', 4, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 4, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => true, )); $this->hasColumn('name', 'string', null, array( 'type' => 'string', 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, )); } public function setUp() { parent::setUp(); $this->hasMany('Article as Articles', array( 'local' => 'tag_id', 'foreign'=>'article_id', 'refClass'=>'Articletag') ); } } And the relationship class like this: abstract class BaseArticletag extends Doctrine_Record { public function setTableDefinition() { $this->setTableName('articletag'); $this->hasColumn('article_id', 'integer', 8, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 8, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => false, )); $this->hasColumn('tag_id', 'integer', 4, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 4, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => false, )); } public function setUp() { parent::setUp(); } } When I try to get a property from the article all goes well by using: $article = Doctrine_Query::create()->from('Article a') ->where('id = ?' , 1) ->fetchOne(); echo $article->title; //gives me the title But when I try this: foreach($article->Tags as $tag) { echo($tag->name) } I get an error: Unknown record property / related component "Tags" on "Article"

  • Would you see any use of a Trilean (True, False, ??)

    - by Sybiam
    I don't know if I'm alone but sometimes I have a function that should return true or false. But in some case there would be a third result that would make more sense. In some language theses cases would be handled with integers or with exception. For exemple you want to handle the age of a user if he is over 18 years old. And you have a function like this. if(user.isAdult(country_code)){ //Go On }else{ // Block access or do nothing } But in some case depending how your app is built I could see case where the birthday field is incomplete. Then this function should return something undetermined. switch(user.isAdult()){ case true: // go on break; case undetermined: //Inform user birthday is incomplete case false: //Block access } As i said we can handle that with Exceptions and Int, but I would find it quite sexy to have a true, false, undetermined embeded in the language instead of using some home defined constants.

  • Why overload true and false instead of defining bool operator?

    - by Joe Enos
    I've been reading about overloading true and false in C#, and I think I understand the basic difference between this and defining a bool operator. The example I see around is something like: public static bool operator true(Foo foo) { return (foo.PropA > 0); } public static bool operator false(Foo foo) { return (foo.PropA <= 0); } To me, this is the same as saying: public static implicit operator bool(Foo foo) { return (foo.PropA > 0); } The difference, as far as I can tell, is that by defining true and false separately, you can have an object that is both true and false, or neither true nor false: public static bool operator true(Foo foo) { return true; } public static bool operator false(Foo foo) { return true; } //or public static bool operator true(Foo foo) { return false; } public static bool operator false(Foo foo) { return false; } I'm sure there's a reason this is allowed, but I just can't think of what it is. To me, if you want an object to be able to be converted to true or false, a single bool operator makes the most sense. Can anyone give me a scenario where it makes sense to do it the other way? Thanks

  • Better way of coding this if statment?

    - by HadlowJ
    Hi. I have another question for you very helpful people. I use a lot of if statements many of which are just repeated and im sure could be shortened. This is my current bit of code if (Globals.TotalStands <= 1) { ScoreUpdate.StandNo2.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreStand2.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreOutOf2.Visible = false; } if (Globals.TotalStands <= 2) { ScoreUpdate.StandNo3.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreStand3.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreOutOf3.Visible = false; } if (Globals.TotalStands <= 3) { ScoreUpdate.StandNo4.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreStand4.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreOutOf4.Visible = false; } if (Globals.TotalStands <= 4) { ScoreUpdate.StandNo5.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreStand5.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreOutOf5.Visible = false; } if (Globals.TotalStands <= 5) { ScoreUpdate.StandNo6.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreStand6.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreOutOf6.Visible = false; } if (Globals.TotalStands <= 6) { ScoreUpdate.StandNo7.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreStand7.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreOutOf7.Visible = false; } if (Globals.TotalStands <= 7) { ScoreUpdate.StandNo8.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreStand8.Visible = false; ScoreUpdate.ScoreOutOf8.Visible = false; } as you can see there is a huge amount of code to do something simple (which i do on a few other forms as well and im sure there must be a better way of coding this that gets the same result? Im a code noob so please be gentle, code is c# and software is visual studio 2008 pro. Thanks

  • Telerik RadGrid doesn't seem to export Grouped data

    - by SlackGadget
    Hi I've got a DNN application using Telerik RadGrid. We're exporting some data from the Grid but when we drill down on the grid control and export the data we only see the initial top level data, never the updated Grid. Here's my table tag and supporting code. I'm not an expert in ASPX/C#so please forgive my newbie-ness. <mastertableview autogeneratecolumns="False" datakeynames="AccountId" datasourceid="SqlDataSource1" groupsdefaultexpanded="False"> <DetailTables> <telerik:GridTableView runat="server" DataKeyNames="StatementId" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource2" Font-Bold="False" Font-Italic="False" Font-Overline="False" Font-Strikeout="False" Font-Underline="False" > <DetailTables> <telerik:GridTableView runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource3" Font-Bold="False" Font-Italic="False" Font-Overline="False" Font-Strikeout="False" Font-Underline="False" GroupsDefaultExpanded="False" ShowFooter="True" ShowGroupFooter="True" AllowMultiColumnSorting="True" GridLines="None"> <ParentTableRelation> <telerik:GridRelationFields DetailKeyField="StatementId" MasterKeyField="StatementId" /> </ParentTableRelation> <AlternatingItemStyle BackColor="White" Font-Bold="False" Font-Italic="False" Font-Overline="False" Font-Strikeout="False" Font-Underline="False" Wrap="True" /> <HeaderStyle Font-Bold="False" Font-Italic="False" Font-Overline="False" Font-Strikeout="False" Font-Underline="False" Wrap="True" /> <FooterStyle BackColor="Yellow" Font-Bold="False" Font-Italic="False" Font-Overline="False" Font-Strikeout="False" Font-Underline="False" Wrap="True" /> </telerik:GridTableView> </DetailTables> <ParentTableRelation> <telerik:GridRelationFields DetailKeyField="AccountId" MasterKeyField="AccountId" /> </ParentTableRelation> <CommandItemSettings ExportToPdfText="Export to Pdf" /> <ExpandCollapseColumn Visible="True"> </ExpandCollapseColumn> </telerik:GridTableView> </DetailTables> <ParentTableRelation> <telerik:GridRelationFields DetailKeyField="AccountId" MasterKeyField="AccountId" /> </ParentTableRelation> <ExpandCollapseColumn Visible="True"> </ExpandCollapseColumn> <Columns> <telerik:GridBoundColumn DataField="ACCOUNTID" DataType="System.Int32" HeaderText="ACCOUNTID" SortExpression="ACCOUNTID" UniqueName="ACCOUNTID"> </telerik:GridBoundColumn> <telerik:GridBoundColumn DataField="ACCOUNTREF" HeaderText="ACCOUNTREF" SortExpression="ACCOUNTREF" UniqueName="ACCOUNTREF"> </telerik:GridBoundColumn> <telerik:GridBoundColumn DataField="CUSTOMERID" DataType="System.Int32" HeaderText="CUSTOMERID" SortExpression="CUSTOMERID" UniqueName="CUSTOMERID"> </telerik:GridBoundColumn> </Columns> </mastertableview> The exports are registered with the script manager on load : protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Button2.Enabled = Session[UserSelection.SelectedValue] != null ? true : false; ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page).RegisterPostBackControl(Button3); ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page).RegisterPostBackControl(Button4); } and I' calling the Export with the following : protected void Button3_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { //ConfigureExport(); RadGrid1.Rebind(); RadGrid1.ExportSettings.FileName = "RadGridExportToExcel"; RadGrid1.ExportSettings.ExportOnlyData = true; RadGrid1.ExportSettings.OpenInNewWindow = true; RadGrid1.MasterTableView.ExportToExcel(); } Can anyone see what I'm missing, apart from DNN/ASPX experience and the will to live :)

  • Active Directory and Apple's Workgroup Manager

    - by qbn
    I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share. I hope I save someone a couple of hours. # ================================================================== # # This file should be imported with the following command: # ldifde -i -u -f Apple AD Schema Changes.ldf -s server:port -b username domain password -j . -c "cn=Configuration,dc=X" #configurationNamingContext # LDIFDE.EXE from AD/AM V1.0 or above must be used. # This LDIF file should be imported into AD or AD/AM. • How to implement a web app with blazeds+java+flex+tomcat?

    Hi, i'm doing a web app in flex blazeds and java, i installed the eclipse plugs for using WTP mixed project, i use the flex's server that uses an emulate of tomcat when i ran my flex service the web app got the datas, everythings is ok. the problem is when i copy the proyect with all files generated by flex in my tomcat or the blazeds's tomcat, it doesn't work, this is becasue i want to implement my app on a server the error is: "(mx.messaging.messages::ErrorMessage)#0 body = (Object)#1 clientId = (null) correlationId = "B425A2A7-7D12-A982-7779-8CCBF669413C" destination = "" extendedData = (null) faultCode = "Client.Error.MessageSend" faultDetail = "Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed: url: 'http://172.16.8.245:8400/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf'" faultString = "Send failed" headers = (Object)#2 messageId = "1CBC6020-0ED8-C4CC-3B77-8CCBF6D6621D" rootCause = (mx.messaging.events::ChannelFaultEvent)#3 bubbles = false cancelable = false channel = (mx.messaging.channels::AMFChannel)#4 authenticated = false channelSets = (Array)#5 [0] (mx.messaging::ChannelSet)#6 authenticated = false channelIds = (Array)#7 [0] "my-amf" channels = (Array)#8 [0] (mx.messaging.channels::AMFChannel)#4 clustered = false connected = false currentChannel = (mx.messaging.channels::AMFChannel)#4 initialDestinationId = (null) messageAgents = (Array)#9 [0] (mx.rpc::AsyncRequest)#10 authenticated = false autoConnect = true channelSet = (mx.messaging::ChannelSet)#6 clientId = (null) connected = false defaultHeaders = (null) destination = "ADEscenario" id = "7D92EDF2-CF62-9545-BA11-8CCBF6691E6B" reconnectAttempts = 0 reconnectInterval = 0 requestTimeout = -1 subtopic = "" connected = false connectTimeout = -1 enableSmallMessages = true endpoint = "http://172.16.8.245:8400/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf" failoverURIs = (Array)#11 id = "my-amf" mpiEnabled = false netConnection = (flash.net::NetConnection)#12 client = (mx.messaging.channels::AMFChannel)#4 connected = false objectEncoding = 3 proxyType = "none" uri = "http://172.16.8.245:8400/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf" piggybackingEnabled = false polling = false pollingEnabled = true pollingInterval = 3000 protocol = "http" reconnecting = false recordMessageSizes = false recordMessageTimes = false requestTimeout = -1 uri = "http://{server.name}:{server.port}/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf" url = "http://{server.name}:{server.port}/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf" useSmallMessages = false channelId = "my-amf" connected = false currentTarget = (mx.messaging.channels::AMFChannel)#4 eventPhase = 2 faultCode = "Channel.Connect.Failed" faultDetail = "NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed: url: 'http://172.16.8.245:8400/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf'" faultString = "error" reconnecting = false rejected = false rootCause = (Object)#13 code = "NetConnection.Call.Failed" description = "HTTP: Failed" details = "http://172.16.8.245:8400/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf" level = "error" target = (mx.messaging.channels::AMFChannel)#4 type = "channelFault" timestamp = 0 timeToLive = 0" i don't know why tomcat doesn't find the class of flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint that is used for my-amf 'http://172.16.8.245:8400/IEC-BLAZEDS/messagebroker/amf'. all works well in the emulated server that flex has.

  • Positive result, negative result and current balance. How do you make starting balance show current result?

    - by Tine
    I have 3 columns. Column A shows positive result and if the result is negative then it is in a column B. Column B shows negative result and if the result is positive then it is in a column A. (meaning that either columns can have 0.00 in the cell (empty zero cells)). Column C has starting assets and it also shows the current balance that while result A or B are adding up and current balance is showing the current result. What is the proper formula for this I hope I was clear with my problem. Please help. Thanks in advance!

  • Mutable Records in F#

    - by MarkPearl
    I’m loving my expert F# book – today I thought I would give a post on using mutable records as covered in Chapter 4 of Expert F#. So as they explain the simplest mutable data structures in F# are mutable records. The whole concept of things by default being immutable is a new one for me from my C# background. Anyhow… lets look at some C# code first. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace MutableRecords { public class DiscreteEventCounter { public int Total { get; set; } public int Positive { get; set; } public string Name { get; private set; } public DiscreteEventCounter(string name) { Name = name; } } class Program { private static void recordEvent(DiscreteEventCounter s, bool isPositive) { s.Total += 1; if (isPositive) s.Positive += 1; } private static void reportStatus (DiscreteEventCounter s) { Console.WriteLine("We have {0} {1} out of {2}", s.Positive, s.Name, s.Total); } static void Main(string[] args) { var longCounter = new DiscreteEventCounter("My Discrete Counter"); recordEvent(longCounter, true); recordEvent(longCounter, true); reportStatus(longCounter); Console.ReadLine(); } } } Quite simple, we have a class that has a few values. We instantiate an instance of the class and perform increments etc on the instance. Now lets look at an equivalent F# sample. namespace EncapsulationNS module Module1 = open System type DiscreteEventCounter = { mutable Total : int mutable Positive : int Name : string } let recordEvent (s: DiscreteEventCounter) isPositive = s.Total <- s.Total+1 if isPositive then s.Positive <- s.Positive+1 let reportStatus (s: DiscreteEventCounter) = printfn "We have %d %s out of %d" s.Positive s.Name s.Total let newCounter nm = { Total = 0; Positive = 0; Name = nm } // // Using it... // let longCounter = newCounter "My Discrete Counter" recordEvent longCounter (true) recordEvent longCounter (true) reportStatus longCounter System.Console.ReadLine() Notice in the type declaration of the DiscreteEventCounter we had to explicitly declare that the total and positive value holders were mutable. And that’s it – a very simple example of mutable types.

  • If I have true i/o false or vice versa, is it an OBOE?

    - by Protector one
    I often make the mistake of inverting my truth values in my code (e.g. in my if clauses). It gives me the same feeling as when making an OBOE (Off By One Error), even though it's technically not. Would you call it an OBOE, or better yet, is there a specific term for "off by truth value"-errors? My reasoning is that all possible values of a boolean are true and false. In other words, the possible values are contained in the array: [true, false]. If you access this array by index, you'll always be off by one… when selecting the wrong one. This becomes especially obvious when you calculate your index as: index = someInt % 2. Now I understand that this usually not the case, but in my mind, it always feels like this. Almost got it, just off by one…

  • Having trouble with pathfinding

    - by user2144536
    I'm trying to implement pathfinding in a game I'm programming using this method. I'm implementing it with recursion but some of the values after the immediate circle of tiles around the player are way off. For some reason I cannot find the problem with it. This is a screen cap of the problem: The pathfinding values are displayed in the center of every tile. Clipped blocks are displayed with the value of 'c' because the values were too high and were covering up the next value. The red circle is the first value that is incorrect. • Adding negative and positive numbers in java without BigInt.

    - by liamg
    Hi, i'm trying to write a small java class. I have an object called BigNumber. I wrote method that add two positive numbers, and other method that subract two also positive numbers. Now i want them to handle negative numbers. So the i wrote couple of 'if' statements eg. if (this.sign == 1 /* means '+' */) { if (sn1.sign == 1) { if (this.compare(sn1) == -1 /* means this < sn1 */ ) return sn1.add(this); else return this.add(sn1); } etc. Unfortunately the code looks just ugly. Like a bush of if's and elses. Is there a better way to write that kind of code? Edit i can't just do this.add(sn1) beacuse sometimes i want to add positive number to negative one or negitve to negative. But add can handle only positive numbers. So i have to use basic math and for example: instead of add negative number to negative number i add this.abs() (absolute value of number) to sn1.abs() and return the result with opposite sign. Drew: this lines are from method _add. I use this method to decide what to do with numbers it receive. Send them to add method? Or send them to subract method but with different order (sn1.subtract(this))? And so on.. if (this.sign == 1) { if (sn1.sign == 1) { if (this.compare(sn1) == -1) return sn1.add(this); else return this.add(sn1); } else if (wl1.sign == 0) return this; else { if (this.compare(sn1.abs()) == 1) return this.subtract(sn1.abs()); else if (this.compare(sn1.abs()) == 0) return new BigNumber(0); else return sn1.abs().subtract(this).negate(); // return the number with opposite sign; } } else if (this.sign == 0) return sn1; else { if (wl1.sign == 1) { if (this.abs().compare(sn1) == -1) return sn1.subtract(this.abs()); else if (this.abs().compare(sn1) == 0) return new BigNumber(0); else return this.abs().subtract(sn1).negate(); } else if (sn1.sign == 0) return this; else return (this.abs().add(wl1.abs())).negate(); } As you can see - this code looks horrible..

  • Please for efficient query

    - by user278618
    I want to have efficient query to get some rows from my table. Here is I think the best presentation of my table. -Somedate is not duplicated - it is date of modifiedon -a,b,c are parent ids, let say countryCode -1,2,3,4 are subparent, let say citycode -guids are id of rows -true, false are values of rows - one can name this column - freshAir a 1 GUID somedate true a 1 GUID somedate true a 2 GUID somedate false a 2 GUID somedate false b 3 GUID somedate false b 3 GUID somedate false b 3 GUID somedate false b 4 GUID somedate false c 5 GUID somedate true c 6 GUID somedate true c 6 GUID somedate false c 6 GUID somedate false c 7 GUID somedate false I want the most recent rows MAX(modifiedon) grouped by countrycode and citycode and in this groups I need elements which have another values (true, false). And in result I want: a 1 GUID somedate true a 2 GUID somedate false c 5 GUID somedate true c 6 GUID somedate false c 7 GUID somedate false Look that in result I don't want to have records with "b", because all rows have the same value (false). Best regards

  • Strange Matlab error: "??? Subscript indices must either be real positive integers or logicals"

    - by Roee Adler
    I have a function func that returns a vector a. I usually plot a and then perform further analysis on it. I have a certain scenario when once I try to plot a, I get a "??? Subscript indices must either be real positive integers or logicals" error. Take a look at the following piece of code to see the vector's behavior: K>> a a = 5.7047 6.3529 6.4826 5.5750 4.1488 5.8343 5.3157 5.4454 K>> plot(a) ??? Subscript indices must either be real positive integers or logicals. K>> for i=1:length(a); b(i) = a(i); end; K>> b b = 5.7047 6.3529 6.4826 5.5750 4.1488 5.8343 5.3157 5.4454 K>> plot(b) ??? Subscript indices must either be real positive integers or logicals. The scenario where this happens is when I call function func from within another function (call it outer_func), and return the result directly as outer_func's result. When debugging inside outer_func, I can plot a properly, but outside the scope of outer_func, its result has the above behavior. What can cause this? Where do I start from?

  • Using excel, how can I count the number of cells in a column containing the text "true" or "false"?

    - by Jay Elston
    I have a spreadsheet that has a column of cells where each cell contains a single word. I would like to count the occurrences of some words. I can use the COUNTIF function for most words, but if the word is "true" or "false", I get 0. A B 1 apples 2 2 true 0 3 false 0 4 oranges 1 5 apples In the above spreadsheet table, I have these formulas in cells B1, B2, B3 and B4: =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"apples") =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"true") =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"false") =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"oranges) As you can see, I can count apples, but not true or false. I have also tried this: =COUNTIF(A1:A5,TRUE) But that does not work either. Note -- I am using Excel 2007.
