• phpbb3 email settings for Zoho SMTP server

  I've spent a while guessing and googling, and haven't found an answer. In the past I setup my forums to send via my Gmail account, but spambots with fake emails have flooded my inbox, so I setup [email protected] with Zoho mail. Zoho works great, but I need to have my installation of phpbb3 send mass emails through the smtp.zoho.com mail server, and I can't figure out what settings I should use. The instructions on https://www.zoho.com/mail/help/pop-access.html are a little vague for anything that doesn't auto-detect the exact settings.

• "SASL authentication failed" with mutt and Gmail, why?

  I am confused by this, I have installed a lot of new pkgs and followed some tutorials after googling but I keep getting this kind of SASL -err. I am not sure whether the mistake is in some Gmail settings or should I check some settings in Ubuntu? • dovecot can't compact mail folder /var/mail/username

  ubuntu 11.10 32bit. Setup a dovecot imap server. Using Thunderbird on a different ubuntu machine (64bit) to access imap server. Everything else is fine, except I can not compact the deleted email in inbox, which is stored at /var/mail/username. Checking mail.log and I see this error message: Apr 3 00:10:11 autumn dovecot: imap(username): Error: file_dotlock_create(/var/mail/username) failed: Permission denied (euid=1000(username) egid=1000(username) missing +w perm: /var/mail, euid is not dir owner) (set mail_privileged_group=mail) what is wrong with the permission?   If you’re looking for a way to quickly find large email attachments in your Gmail account, this undocumented search operator makes it simple to zero in on the hulking attachments hiding out in your inbox. To use the search operator simply plug in “size:” and some value to narrow your search to only emails that size or larger. In the screenshot above we searched for “size:20000000″ to search for files roughly 20MB or larger (if you want to be extremely precise, a true 20MB search would be “size:20971520″). • How to Export Email "Sent" Folder?

  A client had her web site and email hosted at "company A". She was switching to "company B" but didn't want to lose her email. I set up a Gmail account, POPed into her webmail account, and pulled the entire inbox into Gmail (for later transfer to her new host). But I forgot about the "sent" folder. Although the hosting plan is still up and running, she changed her domain record to point to the new host. So I can't access the old webmail account via POP or IMAP because the email address needed for authentication now resolves to the new host. Is there any way I can get the contents of the sent folder without having to do a "forward" one message at a time (there are hundreds)?

• How can I create a facebook style message system in Rails 3?

  I am trying to create a basic message system that allows users to send messages to each other and display it in a simple "Inbox" that shows both messages received and sent, as well as the status of read or unread. Ideally I could reuse existing code. But if not, can someone provide a framework to help me do it? I started to use a single Message record that has UserMessage - one for the sender, one for the receiver. That way I could have separate status. But I'm not sure I'm quite doing it right and would like some guidance. Thanks.

• How can I downgrade my version of Evolution to the one used in Ubuntu 11.04?

  I just upgraded, and like a few other users I had issues with Evolution email after the upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 and then 12.04. I know to make backups, but in this case I stupidly didn't think that the program would be changed (Firefox wasn't modified at all), and so I failed to make a backup. Three days later I am still having issues, and recovering the emails is proving to be difficult with only partial recovery or it not working at all. My question is, can I add in some source to use the 11.04 version of Evolution, since that version was working fine and would know what to do with the current files (Inbox, Outbox, etc.) I also noticed that Evolution's restore feature said it changed the way emails are handled, so it seems like a downgrade could put everything back to normal. Worst case scenario, I start over, but I wanted to try everything first. Thanks in advance! I'm also open to any suggestions for restoring the old emails files to the current version of Evolution.

• How to prevent thunderbird gmail/IMAP from marking deleted/archived emails as read

  I have thunderbird setup to use gmail IMAP. I followed the various guides that recommend setting Edit-Account Settings-Server Settings-When I delete a message-Remove it immediately. Unfortunately this didn't have quite the effect I wanted and after more digging I discovered here that: [Thunderbird] [Gmail] Mark Deleted = Archive Copy to [Gmail]/Trash = Delete Permanently Remove it immediately = Archive Unfortunately whenever I deleted (archived) a message it was also marked as read whether it had been or not. I didn't want this because I like to keep my inbox clean and archive anything that doesn't actually matter, such as funny emails, etc. and then go back and look through the archive later when I have time. What settings do I need to prevent messages from being marked read when I delete them? I'm using Thunderbird 17.0 on Ubuntu 12.04

• How to debug KMail Search after upgrade

  I added KDE backported packages recently to gain access to a more stable version of KDevelop. However, now, Kontact/Kmail's search doesn't work anymore. Where do I start to find out what's wrong? The problem manifests itself that when in the Inbox folder, I type something in the search bar, no Emails will be shown. (Yes, searching for something where the email is definitely there.) Kubuntu 12.04 LTS. Kontact version 4.13. What I tried. akonadiconsole as suggested here. But I couldn't find a feeder as mentioned. More generally, isn't there a checklist or a general approach to debugging akonadi, nepomuk and Kontact?

• How best to take a users signature online? (UK law orientated) [closed]

  Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I can't seem to find any of the other SE sites that would fit better (unless there's a law one?) I'm building an application that will replace an existing paper based form, and this form would normally be signed by the person filling it in. Looking around, it's hard to find a good definitive resource to explain what I can and cannot accept as far as a signature goes. It looks like some UK government online forms accept just your name typed into a box, but I've also heard you should back up with an email - so that process would be type name into a box along with providing an email address, send out an email, then make them click a link within the email to finally complete the verification. Involving email seems very long winded and leaves the system open to spam filters blocking emails, forgotten emails that just sit in inbox's etc. So, does anyone have any knowledge in this department? Personally, I'd love to just get them to type their name into a box and be done with it!

• What is supposed to happen when you install Gmail webapp?

  I have installed Gmail (and other Google as well) webapps into Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. After that I rebooted the system hoping that webapps will integrate into the system. But after logging back to the system, I see no changes. If I click on email envelope (top bar), I don't see my inbox. Also if I try to search email in Dash via gmail keyword, nothing happens as well.
