• Cloning single disk drive to multiple drives simultaneously

  Hi, I am looking for a way to clone single disk drive to more than one disk drive at the same time. I have prepared system images on 1TB disks, and it takes almost 2 hours to clone one disk to another, and then it goes up exponentially, in order to have say 30 disks cloned. If it was possible to clone one disk to more than single target, it would simplify whole procedure a lot. Also, is there something that prevents this kind of operation? I mean, is there some special reason why every disk cloning software that I know about supports only single target drive? Thanks! P.S. • Remapping Home/End from PC to Mac Via Synergy is not client specific.

  This question asks about the end key but the answers give no examples: http://superuser.com/questions/60052/what-key-works-like-end-using-a-mac-with-synergy If they had, I am guessing that they would likely have run into this problem. Adding lines like the bottom two of this: section: options keystroke(End) = keystroke(Control+Right,myiMac) keystroke(Home) = keystroke(Control+Left,myiMac) to my synergy.sgc in MyDocuments on the winXP machine would work but causes the keys to stop functioning on the winXP machine. Unacceptable. I next tried a compromise: keystroke(End) = keystroke(Control+Right,myiMac); keystroke(End,myPc) keystroke(Home) = keystroke(Control+Left,myiMac); keystroke(Home,myPc) Expecting that to broadcast the keystrokes to both machines regardless of which one was the Active Screen. That and many other variations did not work. What am I doing wrong? Has someone actually done this?

• Raid0 performance degradation?

  Not sure if this belongs here or on SuperUser, feel free to move as appropriate. I've noticed the performance on my RAID0 setup seems to have degraded over the past months. The throughput is fine, but I think the random access time has increased or something. In use I generally see about 1-5mb/sec when loading stuff in Visual Studio and other apps and it doesn't seem like the CPU is bottlenecking as the CPU utilization is pretty low. I don't recall what Access Time used to be, but HD Tune is reporting 12.6ms Read throughput is showing as averaging about 125MB/sec so it should be great for sequential reads. Defrag daily and it shows fragmentation levels low, so that shouldn't be an issue. Additional info, Windows 7 x64, Intel raid controller on mobo, WD Black 500GB (I think 32mb cache) x2.

• How can I download videos from this website?

  I wanted to downlaod some of these short videos from chinadaily.com. For example, http://video.chinadaily.com.cn/2013/1012/1388.shtml I have tried NetVideoHunter with Firefox, which works for me for many other sites. But here, NetVideoHunter shows me very small segments of less than 200 KB and when I try to play them (in the NVH panel itself), it says 'Connecting' and then 'Stream not found'. I have seen other question on SuperUser about how to download a Flash video. • How to use multiple SkyDrive accounts on one computer?

  Is there any way how to use multiple SkyDrive accounts on one computer running MAC OS X or Windows 8? I would like to sync data from different accounts to different folder and not to merge these accounts to one. The reason is that every SkyDrive has it's storage limits and I'm using every account for different work data. The result should be the following: I have a number of SkyDrive accounts every for different work, let's say: S1 S2 S3 I would like to sync exactly the same number of folders on computer using different accounts to sync them: SkyDriveS1Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S1 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS2Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S2 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS3Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S3 SkyDrive) Is it possible somehow? • Mac OS X Terminal get in Macintosh HD? For using Git and Github

  I wanted to get started with using Git and Github especially for installing Web software to my htdocs directory. htdocs is the folder in which you put all your websites that then run by using MAMP -- Apache server, PHP, MySQL and stuff. This not the real problem though, the problem is I am in the terminal and see this: imac-van-jeroen-*******-2:~ JeroensiMac$ And using cd ~ or cd .. just results back in the line above, which is usual. The problem is that all my applications and everything really is not on my user but in the Macintosh HD. Macintosh HD/applications, or Macintosh HD/applications/MAMP/htdocs/ I want to be in the Terminal and go to my Macintosh HD (is this referred to as being superuser?). I want to know if this is just my fault for installing everything on my Macintosh HD instead of Macintosh HD/users/JeroensiMac/~. Also I would like to know if its possible at all, and I am just missing something. And If I am not doing anything wrong is it safe to use Git(Github) with directories in my Macintosh HD?

• Is the Realtek network driver on Windows Update fixed yet?

  Months ago i was experiencing problems with my networking, and was hoping the updated Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) driver available from Microsoft on Windows Update would fix the problems. Instead, after the reboot, the network device failed to start, and the driver had to be rolled back. I'm not the only person to get this problem, it even was dealt with by a superuser. A co-worker experienced the exact same problem, and we independently came up with the same solution: hide the updated driver in Windows Update. So I've continued to have my network troubles, and i still need an updated driver. Is the version of the Realtek driver on Windows Update fixed yet? i know Microsoft never pulled it down, but maybe it's been up-updated. i really don't want to find out by downloading it. Can someone else confirm that it's no longer broken - or can someone else be my guinea pig?

• windows 7 sound stopped working out of nowhere

  hi, i have had windows 7 installed for a few months, working fine with soundblaster xi around 7p was watching youtube videos with sound went and made dinner around 9p came back, realized there was no sound coming out of speakers, even though windows mixer shows sound output restarted, no sound uninstalled driver, restarted had windows search for driver, it installed, windows mixer showed sound bar moving while playing an mp3 but couldn't hear i've tested with speakers plugged into soundblaster, as well as headphones plugged into the audio port on the front of my computer. what could have happened? what could the solution be? After spending a lot of time searching for this, I thought that some SuperUser gurus might know the answer :) I'm searching for an open source application to compute an FFT, that could: * Import a list of points from a text file (in any format, I could write conversion scripts if needed), for example 0,1; 1,2; 4,5 * Compute the associated discrete transform, and output the list of coefficients Ideally, it would also display the plot and the associated fourier decomposition on the same graph, to allow comparison, but this is not absolutely needed. • Clipboard: Copy image, get path back when pasting in file input.

  Hi All. First question here on superuser. I sometimes get ad-hoc bug reports from customers, which I need to transfer to our online bug tracker. Works fine for text, but pictures are tedious. I'm looking for a solution to copy-paste images from documents (like excel sheets) in a way that if you paste an image to a file input (or text input) on a html page, the file will automatically be written to disk (tmp dir), and the path written to the file input field. This question is related to Directly paste clipboard image into gmail message, but I would like to ask if there is a solution using a local program only. I'm interested in solutions for all OS's.

  I learned recently (on superuser) that Mac OS X uses the bash shell. I also know that OS X has a UNIX core. I was searching for information about OS X and Open Source on google, but what I found was this site: http://www.opensource.apple.com/ Which seems to include the source code for OS X. For instance, one of the links reads: Mac OS X 10.5.7 Source So, is OS X open source? There's an Apple Public Source License, but I'm bad at understanding legalese. Update Extra/Bonus question: Besides the kernel, What about the various other pieces? The X server? Window Manager? File explorer? etc. What's open source and what's not?

  I need to investigate how much power my linux machine uses per week. I can take a look at the PSU but I would like to know how to calculate the average use of power it takes. I also need to know how much power a CRT screen use per week. Do I need to check the PSU Watt unit and Screen Watt usage and just add both to have the results? P.S. • How do I configure custom routes when an interface is configured?

  Other Superuser questions have addressed the issue of adding custom routes to access e.g.: multiple networks of a corporate network through one interface, while accessing the Internet through another interface. So assuming that I have a script to add specific routes when en0 is configured, and a separate script to add specific routes when en1 is configured, is there some way I can trigger those scripts to run automatically when Mac OS X/Darwin starts and configures those interfaces? Back in my Linux days, it was possible to add an option in /etc/network/interfaces along the lines of: iface eth0 inet dhcp up /usr/local/sbin/eth0-routes-up Is there something similar for Mac OS X?

• Using Automator to click on an Application-specific button

  I'm new to Automator. I need to launch a specific application and to click on one of its buttons. I've used the "Watch Me Do" feature to register the button click but, in the Automator events log, this action is being reported as "Bring the window XXX to the front." I'm then wondering if a better way exists to "record" a button-click. The reason behind my question is linked to this: http://superuser.com/questions/148386/mac-running-an-automator-task-at-night In fact, using the "Watch me do" approach, Automator is apparently not able to perform the click action when the machine is on sleep and a password is required.   Having trouble installing ghc6. Here's what seems to be the relevant error that comes up when I try to (apt-get|aptitude) install ghc6: A package failed to install. My searching around has not really helped me understand what's going on, except that it might be caused by a mismatch in locale.   a few hours ago, I found a link to Kickass Torrent, which is blocked in my country, Italy and went for it. The link worked just fine but wasn't able to save anything. I renounced and continued normal navigation. I then noticed that everytime I try to access some pages, for instance google.com (but not Google.it) I receive a warning from Chrome that I'm being redirected through piratenpartji.nl Since I found a similar topic here on 'superuser' I tried what was proposed in the solution, namely shutting down adblock and trying again or trying Incognito mode. Nevertheless, no result. I performed a search with both Avira and Spybot SD but except for a couple cookies from other origin nothing came up. What do you suggest I do? • How to Create a Minimize All Windows (Win + M) Hotkey for Mac OS X

  Windows users have been able to minimize every window on their desktop ever since keyboards with the Win key started showing up — just tap WIN + M on your keyboard, and every window is minimized. For Mac OS X, it’s not quite as simple. You can, of course, use the CMD + OPT + H + M shortcut key combination to hide most windows… but that’s a lot of keys to hit at once, and it doesn’t always minimize everything in my experience. So like everything else I wanted from Windows, it was time to figure out how to get it on OS X as well. This method uses QuickSilver to provide the shortcut key trigger — if there’s a better way to do that, please let us know. • Windows Upgrade vs Full Install

  I'm in the process of purchasing a Netbook for use while traveling. The included OS is XP, however, I would like to upgrade(?) to Windows 7. My question: Does a Windows Upgrade have the same physical footprint and performance as a full install? Does an upgrade leave behind non used files/resources that were originally included in XP? If so, are there ways to reduce this? I'm trying to reduce as much OS bloat as possible. Please let me know if my question is unclear. Thanks.   How do I recover lost data from sd card? I already tried using: Photorec Recuva Tune up undelete Pareto data recovery chkdsk x: /F from here: http://superuser.com/questions/128259/how-to-recover-images-from-memory-card But none of them worked. I think I've only lost the data yesterday. And I haven't used the camera. So there's a possibility that it is still there. But the question is how I can recover the images? I think its lost when I tried to connect the digicam with the computer. But the camera froze so I tried to remove the batteries then try again.

• Static Routes and the Routing Table

  This is very much a learning question if someone would be happy to explain a couple of concepts. My question is - the default routing table that exists in, in my case, a default Windows 7 install, what do each of the routes in the table do? Here is a screenshot: The 10.128.4.0 is just a route I've added while messing. I understand from a question I posted on Superuser the first route is just a default route that will route all traffic for any IP to my default gateway on my Interface in use. But what about the others? And how would the routing table handle a machine with multiple NIC's, perhaps connected to two different networks, or maybe even two NIC's on the same network so a VM can have a physical Network card instead of each VM sharing the hosts. • Proffesional video editor that can handle FLV?

  I tried Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and was not able to open my file (unsupported format). Media player can open it thanks to ffdshow (tryouts IIRC). Premiere doesnt seem to want to use ffdshow. I tried renaming it to AVI and hoped Premiere would open it via ffdshow but it didnt and i checked and disabled the dont use ffdshow option in ffdshow video decoder option. What is a good proffesional video editor that can handle FLV? All ffmpeg based editors died on it and virtualdub got close but had a bad framerate. Probably bc it didnt know it was a streaming vid and the start is 26mins of 31min video. • Installing Windows 7 on a BSOD Windows Vista (ASAP)

  On a previous question i posted, i asked for help on fixing my windows vista box because it keeps going to blue screen. No one seems to have the answer, so now i want to install Windows 7. I want to know if i can install 7 without having to reformat my hard drive and having to lose all my files. I've already confirmed the hardware is working because i installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my external hard drive and it runs on my system fine. • What is your favorite password storage tool?

  Aside from personal passwords, I'm always juggling a number of project-specific passwords, including those for network, web and database authentication. Some authentication can be managed with ssh keys and the like, but everywhere I've worked I also faced the need for the management of passwords that need to be available to a number of different people. So what do you use, either for personal or team-based password management? Personally I'd like to hear about cross-platform tools, but I'm sure other people would be satisfied with Windows-only solutions. I know the stackoverflow podcast tackled this issue in #7 and #9, but I'm hoping we can come up with the definitive answer here. Update: Even though this question was asked before its sibling site existed, you should probably add your two cents to the more active question over at superuser, which is a more appropriate venue for this.

• Drivers for Quick Cam pro 9000 on Windows 7

  I have a Logitect Quick Cam Pro 9000 that I want to install on my Windows 7 installation. The user manual specifies that I have to install the software before I install the camera. But my experience is that software from hardware vendors tend to decrease computer performance, so I was wondering if this camera will work by only plugging it in and letting Windows 7 find and install the drivers for it. I could've just tried installing it of course, but again, hardware vendors are notorius for fucking up things, and I wouldn't want to make it impossible to install the camera by doing things in the wrong order, hence the question here on SuperUser because I assume somebody is more knowledgeable than me on this subject.
