• How to handle Alarm notification in Android?

  Hi, I'm developing an media player application for Android, for which I need to handle any Alarm notification, and based on that I'll pause my playback. When the Alarm in snoozed or dismissed, I'll then resume the playback. I googled a lot for the Alarm handling, but what I found was the way to enable Alarm notifications through code, set the intent and then handle it. However, no where could I locate just handling the Alarm notification part. I don't need to set the Alarm on, it could've been set by the user, and I don't need to programmatically. All I need is just handle that notification. Any ideas on this would be extremely useful? Thanks, Asheesh

• Controllling Drupal's active/active-trail with duplicate menu items

  I'm developing a site that requires some duplication of links within the menu: Section A -- Introduction -- Testimonials Section B -- Introduction -- Testimonials Testimonials -- Section A -- Section B So 'Section A Testimonials' and 'Testimonials Section A' point to the same node. But regardless of which menu link people use, I want the person to be in Section A. The problem is that D6 doesn't like duplicate menu items, and it assigns the active and active-trail classes rather unpredictably. So my thought was to create a placeholder node for each item in the Testimonials menu, and then set the URL to something like "testimonials/redirect/section-a", and then use mod_rewrite to redirect over to "section-a/testimonials". With this solution, I will have no duplicate paths in the menu. I'm just hoping this doesn't somehow hurt my SEO. Does anyone know a better solution?

  Hi, I'm developing an application in Rails and want the user to be able to signup and provide their card details on one form. I'm using the Braintree API and their transparent redirect, which means that the form data is posted directly to Braintree. How can I store and later retrieve the non-payment related information provided by the user from that form e.g. account name, username? These values are not returned in the response provided by Braintree. If you look at the Basecamp signup process, this is the result I want to achieve. Thanks Robin

• Best practices in ASP.Net code behind pages.

  Hi, I am an experienced developer but I am new to web application development. Now I am in charge of developing a new web application and I could really use some input from experienced web developers out there. I'd like to understand exactly what experienced web developers do in the code-behind pages. At first I thought it was best to have a rule that all the database access and business logic should be performed in classes external to the code-behind pages. My thought was that only logic necessary for the web form would be performed in the code-behind. I still think that all the business logic should be performed in other classes but I'm beginning to think it would be alright if the code-behind had access to the database to query it directly rather than having to call other classes to receive a dataset or collection back. Any input would be appreciated.

  Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7. As a .NET developer I'm not interested in developing Windows 7 components at this stage, but was curious which version would suffice to Install Visual Studio/SQL Server and do some web development testing against the local instance of IIS. I don't care too much about the superfluous features of any Windows 7 editions, I just need to know which one will keep me right for running apps and writing some code. Also, does Windows 7 force the "run as administrator" against VS? Any recommendations?

  While developing a PHP+JS web application we always try to separate big blocks of code into small modules/components, in order to make these last ones as much reusable as possible in other applications. Let's say we now have: the EcommerceApp (an ecommerce main application) a Server-file-mgr component (a component to view/manage file on server) a Mylib (a library of useful functions) a MailistApp (another main application to handle mail lists) ... EcommerceApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work Server-file-mgr needs Mylib to work MaillistApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work too. My idea is to simply structure the SVN project folder tree putting everything at the same level: trunk/EcommerceApp trunk/Server-file-mgr trunk/Mylib trunk/MaillistApp But in real life to make these apps to work the folder tree structure must be the following: EcommerceApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr MaillistApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr I mean Mylib and Server-file-mgr needs to be inside the EcommerceApp/MaillistApp folder. How would you then structure the SVN folder, as I did or in a different/better/smarter way???

I'm developing an application with Hibernate 3.5 and Spring 3.0 Pros: Good documentation Easy configuration and helpful logs Popularity - wide community Some extensions to JPA Some additional Tools - JBoss Tools for Eclipse, hbm2ddl, generating static metamodel etc... Cons: Bugs! (Sequences, collections etc...) Lots of reatures are doubled with "pure" Hibernate. There's a mess in legacy Hibernate and JPA annotations. I'm considering to switch to EclipseLink. What do You think ? Edit: I've tried EclipseLink and have very bad experiences. It seems like EclipseLink needs LoadTimeWeaver and likes to run on OSGi platform rather than simple Jetty or Tomcat environment. I just don't have time for all this configuration stuff.

After the install I want to change the default settings in the Ssms, such as "Prevent saving changes that require table recreation" and such on. I can't figure out, where Ssms hides its settings. Currently I am looking at 1) My Documents\SQL Server Management Studio\ 2) HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell\Profile But whenever I change a "setting" in the vssettings-file in 1), Ssms thinks it is first time it runs, and overwrite. How can I change the Ssms setting manual, without doing it from the Ssms itself?

• Library to parse ERB files

  I am attempting to parse, not evaluate, rails ERB files in a Hpricot/Nokogiri type manner. The files I am attempting to parse contain HTML fragments intermixed with dynamic content generated using ERB (standard rails view files) I am looking for a library that will not only parse the surrounding content, much the way that Hpricot or Nokogiri will but will also treat the ERB symbols, <%, <%= etc, as though they were html/xml tags. Ideally I would get back a DOM like structure where the <%, <%= etc symbols would be included as their own node types. I know that it is possible to hack something together using regular expressions but I was looking for something a bit more reliable as I am developing a tool that I need to run on a very large view code base where both the html content and the erb content are important. For example, content such as: blah blah blah <divMy Great Text <%= my_dynamic_expression %</div Would return a tree structure like: root - text_node (blah blah blah) - element (div) - text_node (My Great Text ) - erb_node (<%=)

• DirectSound affects system volume on WinXP

  Hello guys, I'm currently developing an audio engine that is used in voice network chat software. Everything is working fine - capture/playback/mixing channels. The problem is in using it under Windows XP. I've been getting user reports with information that their global system volume is set to zero after launching the application. I'm assuming that happens because of WaveOut/DSound conflict. How can I force DSound not to affect system volume? Playback device is initialized: DirectSoundCreate8(&GUID, &pAudio, NULL); and: pAudio-SetCooperativeLevel(parentWnd, DSSCL_PRIORITY); I'm currently not able to debug the application, cause I'm using Vista and everything is OK. • Building webparts with Visual Studio 2010 Express

  Hi, I'm trying to get started with building my own webparts, planning to follow this MSDN article. I've downloaded Visual C# 2010 Express - I'm not quite at the point where I feel comfortable dropping 1000 big ones yet, and I installed Visual Web Developer 2010 Express via the WPInstaller. Following through the tutorial, aside from the fact that I don't get the option to create a "Web Control Library", a gap I filled with this article, I can't seem to find the sn.exe tool (or the "Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt"!). I know it's not quite a direct programming related question, but I can't even get the thing going yet! Any help is appreciated. Thanks EDIT:- I think I may be jumping the gun quite considerably, I wrote a simple hello world example and tried to build it but it doesn't have any references to the Microsoft.SharePoint packages and they don't appear in my lists. Am I understanding some more research I've done (namely this) correctly, in that I have to actually have a full installation of actual SharePoint on the machine I'm developing on?

• Dispatcher.Invoke not working in .NET 3.0 SP1

  I am developing a WPF windows application and am getting into a trouble running the app in .NET 3.0. Everytime that I try to access the System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Invoke() method, I get a method-not-found error. Basically, I spawn a new thread from the main thread and try to change some UI properties (basically update a progress-bar) from the new thread using the following code: updateStatusDelegate usd = new updateStatusDelegate(progressBar.SetValue); Dispatcher.Invoke(usd, System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherPriority.Background, new object[] { System.Windows.Controls.ProgressBar.ValueProperty, Convert.ToDouble(perc) }); Can someone help me understand why do I encounter this error in .NET 3.0 version? I am able to get this going in .NET 3.0 SP2. But I guess .NET is not distributed independantly and is packaged only with .NET 3.5 version. My goal is to get away with the dependancy of .net 3.5 and have a dependancy on .NET 3.0 version Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kapil

• How do I show a user's credit based on their session

  Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database. • Jquery: Preload an image on request with a callback function?

  Hey, I'm helping out a friend with a website he's developing and we are having trouble with preloading images on request. Basically, when the user clicks on a thumbnail of the product a <div> slides down that includes a scrolling carrousel of large images. In total there are about 20MB of images that could be loaded in (if you did them all) so preloading them on the page load would not be an option. Is there a way that we could call a javascript function that begins to preload about 4 images and then when it's done it has a callback function? Thanks! P.S. We are using jQuery on the page...

We call them external tests. They can access web-service sometimes or similar. While unit tests is easy to run the integrational tests couldn't pass sometimes - for example due to timeout error. Also these tests can take too much time to run. Currently we keep integration/external unit tests just to run them when developing corresponding functionality. For plain unit tests we use TeamCIty for continuous integration. How do you run the integration unit tests and when do you run them?

• how to precompile sass with gruntjs?

  There seem to be a few plugins...and I'm using webstorm file watcher which also precompiles individual files. I think this may not be the best way to setup a watcher. I'm running this command now: sass --no-cache --update --stop-on-error --trace ./app/sass:./app/css It seems to conflict with the webstorm file watch, which appears to be appending everything to base.css. Can someone tell me what exactly this command is doing vs. a sass filewatcher in webstorm? What's the best way to work with sass: precompile my sass to css using a grunt build task and have file watchers while developing? • NSDictionary: convert NSString keys to lowercase to search a string on them

  Hello. I'm developing an iPhone application. I use a NSDictionary to store city's names as key, and population as value. I want to search the keys using lowercase. I've using this: NSDictionary *dict; [dict objectForKey:[[city stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]] lowercaseString]]; But, it doesn't work. I know, I can do a for, convert keys to lowercase and compare with city. Is there any other way to do that? Maybe, with a NSDictionary method. UPDATE The NSDictionary is loaded from a property list. • J2me Blackberry Numeric Input

  Hello, I am developing a blackberry application using j2me and LWUIT (blackberry port). Everything works great except for the TextField in numeric mode. Basically when you have focus on the TextField you have to first go into "NUMERIC" mode (by pressing alt + aA) in order to input, which is not user friendly and a problem. The proposed solution is to use a TextArea instead that allows you to open a NATIVE type input box. The problem there is that the user needs to focus the field and then press the fire button which again is unfriendly. Does anyone know of any simple solutions? The few solutions i have in mind (but not sure how to do them): 1) Capture any keypress on the TextArea and go into NATIVE mode, instead of just the fire key. 2) Put the blackberry input mode into numeric using code for the whole form.   I have been developing a toy editor, and I want my editor to look like the VS2010 text editor which can be dragged out of the main window to become a independent window and the dragged-out window can be maximized when it's dragged to the top of the screen, and can be docked by being dragged to the left or right side of the screen(which is a new feature in Win7). So I tried to use AvalonDock(a codeplex project) to do that.But I found the dragged-out DocumentContent(a class in AvalonDock,it inherits from ContentControl) is not treated like a real window in Win7. So I wanna know that What kind of window can be docked by being dragged to the left/right side or the top of the screen in Win7? Thanks!!

  Hi all, I am developing a tab-based iPad application in which corresponding to each tab, I have to show an UISplitViewController . I have done this by adding two navigation controllers to my tabBarController and assigning a subclass of UISplitViewController as RootViewController of both navigationController. And also I have to show both viewControllers(Master and Detail) in both modes(Potrait and Landscape). For this I have constructed a subclass of UISplitViewController in which i am overriding willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation method and setting the frame of both ViewControllers as demonstrated in this link. However i am not able to set both viewControllers correctly.If my app starts in Landscape mode everything displays fine but if i open it in Potrait mode then the orientation of both ViewControllers changes. Sometimes the MasterView occupies the entire screen or sometimes both ViewControllers appear leaving a black line between them and the navigationBar. I have been banging my head over this problem since two days without any success. kindly help..

• What disables "Run Project" in Expression Blend 3

  I am developing a Sketchflow (Silverlight) project in Expression Blend 3. It has been working fine up until today, now I cannot run the project. Specifically in the Project menu the "Run Project" option is now greyed out (all the other options are fine). F5 also doesn't have any effect. I've obviously messed up the code somewhere but I can't find any information on what could cause the "Run Project" option to be disabled. This would obviously help the troubleshooting. Does anybody know what controls this functionality? I can build the project no problem. And if I package the project (so it runs outside Expression) this also works fine. It is just launching it from Expression that doesn't work.
