  • Filtering data in an array.

    Hi all, I have an array that has 30 date objects. The date objects are indexed in the array from the minimum date value to the maximum date value. What I would like to do is retrieve only 7 dates from the array. Out of the 7, the first one should be the minDate and the last should be the maxDate, with 5 dates in the middle. The 7 numbers should increment evenly from the minDate to the maxDate. How would I accomplish this? Hope I was clear. Thanks, Tonih

  • Should app using VCL migrate?

    Is VCL dead, or does it have a future as a GUI library? As CLX ended, is there any chance for cross-platform support in future releases? I've had to do some work with legacy app that uses Borland's VCL(BCB6). Now that new features have to be implemented, it's necessary to revalue alternatives. Whether to stick with VCL or migrate to some other library/framework. I've never read much what's happening in the field Embarcadero(Borland) tools. At least there seems to be only few VCL tagged questions here in SO and no much luck with google either.

    I know about and have used the macros DEBUGMSG, RETAILMSG, ERRORMSG, that all take a condition parameter. For general formatted debug output, though, I want to use ::NKDbgPrintfW directly and wonder if someone knows if it compiles to a nop in optimised release builds or if my own macro wrapper around it with #ifdef DEBUG is still needed?

  • Background Image w/Quartz Drawing

    I'm using Quartz to do some basic drawing. I recently decided I wanted a background image for my app. So I went into my XIB file and added a UIImageView and set the background, looks good. However, when I run it, the Z-Index of the image is above my drawing. I googled a bit and found that you can do Layout Send to Back in IB...but that option is grayed out to me when I have my UIImageView selected. Is there an easy way to move this UIImageView permanently to the background? Is there perhaps an alternate method to doing this that I should consider? Thanks

    If I want to know if an object has a particular property I can code this: if (SomeObject.hasOwnProperty('xyz')) { // some code } But some styles masquerade as properties at design time such as Button.color... How can I know what style properties are valid at runtime? ie: What is the equivalent of hasOwnProperty for getStyle/setStyle? In other words how can I know if an object HAS A particular style variable... When I write: MyButton.setStyle('qsfgaeWT','-33'); It won't accomplish anything, but it also doesn't error. How can I know programmatically that 'qsfgaeWT' is NOT a valid style of 'Button'??

    I've written a little OSMF player that streams via RTMP from Amazon Cloudfront. There's a known issue, the mp3 duration is not correctly readed from metadata and thus the seek function is not working. I know there's a workaround implying the use of getStreamLength function of NetConnection, which I successfully implemented in a previous non-OSMF player, but now I don't know how and when to call it, in terms of OSMF Events and Traits.     I have been working on a project and Stack Overflow has helped me with a few problems so far, so I am very thankful! My question is this: I have an array like this: var records:Object = {}; var arr:Array = [ records["nh"] = { medinc:66303, statename:"New Hampshire"}, records["ct"] = { medinc:65958, statename:"Connecticut"}, records["nj"] = { medinc:65173, statename:"New Jersey"}, records["md"] = { medinc:64596, statename:"Maryland"}, etc... for all 50 states. And then I have the array sorted reverse numerically (descending) like this: arr.sortOn("medinc", Array.NUMERIC); arr.reverse(); Can I call the name of the record (i.e. "nj" for new jersey) and then get the value from the numeric position above and below the record in the array? Basically, medinc is medium income of US states, and I am trying to show a ranking system... a user would click Texas for example, and it would show the medinc value for Texas, along with the state the ranks one position below and the state that ranks one position above in the array. For example, I can use gotoandplay and gotoandstop functionality. I tried something like: var m:MovieClip = new movieFire() as MovieClip; but it turns out when I tried to get totalFrames, m.totalFrames, it gives me zero, and gotoand* functions don't work either. How can I correctly control the swf file embedded in actionsript 3.0 (No Flex component)?

  • Advice on embedding video content via CMS - what format?

    Hi, if I set up the facility for people to embed video content on their site via their CMS (using TinyMCE editor), is there any reliable cross platform video format that should be used? From what I can find online, the only reliable way to embed and stream video is using FLV. Other formats seem to have caveats, e.g codecs required or quicktime updates required. Ideally I'd like to avoid this type of situation. If it is the case that FLV is the preferred option, then that involves asking people to encode their video content to FLV before uploading, so there is an extra step required here (unless I can set up the encoding in the back end, but this might take a while to process depending on the size of the video). Does anyone have any additional advice on this? The types of video i'd imagine people will be working with is raw camera footage, so i need to figure out the easiest and most reliable way of getting the footage on to a web page.

I wanna get some data from oracle server like: 1-get all the function,package,procedure and etc for showing them or drop them & etc... 2-compile my *.sql files,get the result if they have problem & etc... becuz I was beginner in oracle first of all I for solve the second problem I try to connect to sqlPlus by RUN sqlplus and trace the output(I mean,I change the output stream of shell and trace what happend and handle the assigned message to customer. NOW THIS PART SUCCEED. just a little bit I have problem with get all result because the output is asynchronous.any way... [in this case I log in to oracle Server by send argument to the sqlplus by make a process in c#] after that I try to get all function,package or procedure name,but I have problem in speed!so I try to use oracle.DataAccess.dll to connect the database. now I m so confusing about: which way is correct way to build a program that work like Oracle Developer! I do not have any experience for like these program how work. If Your answer is I must use the second way follow this part plz: I search a little bit the Golden,PLedit (Benthic software),I have little bit problem how I must create the connection string?because I thinking about how I can find the host name or port number that oracle work on them?? am I need read the TNSNames.Ora file?     I'm trying to create an vocabulary study application using Obj-C and the Cocoa frameworks. I have about two week's experience in both areas and have reached an edge of my current knowledge. Here's where I'm stuck. When I press a checkbox, a corresponding plist is loaded into memory as an NSDictionary. I want to generate a "Label: Textfield" pair for each key:value pair, where the Label is the key. When the text typed into the Textfield matches the key's value, I want the Label's text to turn green. So how would I generate this grid, and once generated, how would I make the text green upon correct input? Thanks!
