  • How do I recover jegs with zero bytes?

    I downloaded some wedding photos into my external drive about a month ago. A total of 3 cards were downloaded into 3 different files. The first file lists all of the photos, about 600 images, but they have zero bytes. The other 2 files are fine. I can't recover the compact flash card because I have used it too many times since then. Is there any way to recover the images on my drive?

  • Logon onto shared Windows account using individual passwords?

    In a networked WinXP environment, I have a computer-controlled device which I want to connect to the network, but allow various people to use. The computer must be left running and logged on at all times. My thought is to run the computer under a "shared account" which would allow each user to logon/unlock the screen using their own network password (i.e., the password for their personal account).     I have installed and uninstalled MySQL Server for about 100 times. Each time I reinstall the thing, it shows the same configurations, which I think cause problems. I would like to get rid of all traces of MySQL and install it as if it was the first installation. I'v already deleted the MySQL folder, but I still having the same problem. How can I start over and reinstall MySQL? EDIT: My OS is Windows 7.

  • Mysql Servers for Attendance System

    I'm building an attendance system. There are about 20 places where people will check in and check out using Mifare 1K Card. It will use MySQL as the database. The system will display something like "#ID IN: 800AM" when the first time the user checks in and "#ID OUT: 400PM" when the user checks out. For this to work, all the databases need to be synchronized with each other all the times. For an example, if user A went to location #1 to check in but by the time he wants to return home, the server at location #1 went down, he needs to go to location #2 or the nearest server to check out. The server at location #2 should display '#ID OUT: 400PM" and not "#ID IN: 400PM" since he's already checked in. So, what should I use to ensure this idea will work? My main concern is with the network (other department manages it) which is very unpredictable. It just love to go down anytime it wants to. Update LOL, didn't realize my question is not clear, just noticed it when you guys pointed it out, sorry about that. My real question is, how can I configure my MySQL to be synchronized with each other (20 servers)? MySQL cluster ? (tried reading about it, but I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do) My current setup (first phase): Local database for each server OS: Slackware A main server that keeps track which staff is at which server A web based front end for the user to see their history (which connects to the server based on their records) Main Pros No worries about network problems since it is a local database Main Cons A user can only check in and out at the same server. Databases/Servers are not connected with each others. Have to add the user to each server if the users want to check in at different locations. Which means, if he wants to go to location A, he must be checked out from location A first and then check in at location B. The server at location B didn't know that the user has checked in before at A. By the way, I've already centralized my NTP to a local server. About the network, let's just say, I don't have the authority to make changes so that the network will be better. The network won't effect all 20 servers at once, usually, just a few of them for several times a week. If there are anything else you would like me to answer, please just ask.

    In my HFT software I plan to use one core for stock index calculation. That would be simply while(true) loop without any delays which will calculate (sum and multiply) components as often as possible (so millions times per second) and I plan to do that 8 hours per day every day. I was never before loading my computer to 100% full time every day regullary. May it be dangerous? Do processor has kind of "resource" (very big of course) after which it can stopped working?

    I need to monitor some ftp servers for any changes in file structure, things that I need to monitor is how many times an file is downloaded (not sure if possible), if files are changed or not, if files are deleted or not, if ftp server still exists, i would like this to be something that i can run server=side and would like a sms message or email if any of the above changes have occured any one have any experience or would recommend an particular language or script? thanks just for reference, i don't want to install an ftp server, i just want something to help me monitor other remote ftp servers by periodically logging in

    for some reason when i press the shift key on my laptop keyboard is mapped to 'ctrl+v' which does a paste. i thought it was the keyboard but then i replaced it with a wireless one,it still gives me the same issue. can someone help me. i cant just turn off the shift key all together because i do need it at times. model 8510w; vista operating system

    I have ssh set up so my users can only access sftp and port forwarding, how can I limit the number of concurrent logins on a per user basis? In my sshd_config I have UsePAM set to yes and in /etc/security/limits.conf I have: username - maxlogins 1 I also tried: username hard maxlogins 1 Neither of these works and the users can still log in multiple times.

    There are numerous ways to get the podcast feed for standard iTunes podcasts like this or this, however, neither of these methods work on the podcast feeds in iTunes U. I don't want to use iTunes, how can I find the alternative xml podcast feed? Here's one for example: http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Feed/fora.tv.1901773207.01901773213 How can I subscribe to this feed outside of iTunes? I have tried emailing the publisher (Fora.tv) numerous times but they never respond.

Is there some program available that monitors that the networking is working (by pinging some site(s)), and if not tries to fix the error by reseting the modem, reloading the USB drivers and perhaps by dropping the USB port's current (if possible) to force the modem to reset ?

    This problem started when I tried to login to my brand spaning new VPS server. I remember that in my first SSH try on the server I actually got prompt for password several times which would mean that there is no port blocking problem from my isp. Since the password did'nt work for me (for some reason). I had a lot of authentication failure. After that attempting to log in to the server just timed out. I did the same at mediatemple (which used to work before with sftp) and put in wrong password and now trying to ssh (or even SFTP) gives me timeout error. So some kind of security feature is preventing me from trying too many times to log in, either from my side or from the server side. Any idea what it could be? TRaceroute and ping works on the ips.     I'd like to be able to do something like Host * HostName *.mydomain.com ... So I can type something like ssh test ssh ci ssh dev Instead of having to type ssh test.mydomain.com ssh ci.mydomain.com ssh dev.mydomain.com Right now I have separate entries for each one, but we have dozens of machines, so I'd rather have a default rather than have to duplicate everything so many times.

  • Tversity DNLA services with Xbox 360

    I'm hosting a Tversity instance on my Windows 2008 server and sharing some media. My PS3 detects this as a DNLA device and can play back the media just fine. Tversity shows up on my Xbox 360, but when i click on it, it just loads and loads and after a minute it times out and tells me it can't connect. Has anyone successfully gotten this working?

    There are times when instead of scrolling vertically in file explorer I accidentally move a folder to within another folder. Great! It happens so quick I don't know which folder was moved and this means I just screwed up an application installation. Is there a way to undo this operation? Currently when looking at the "Critical" count I find it difficult to decide if an internal service is affected (I should take immediate action) or an external service (I just acknowledge the problem). Is there a way to keep a problem acknowledgement for future down-times of the checked host/service? Is there some way to auto-acknowledge the state change of external hosts/services?

  • How come I can't redirect TCP ports on this wireless router?

    I am configuring a router to redirect TCP port 5900 (yes, this is for VNC) to a specific IP address on the network. Here is what I have: From a local computer on the same network, I can telnet to 192.168.1.64 (port 5900) just fine. However, when trying to telnet to the machine (port 5900) using its external IP address, it doesn't work. (The connection times out.) The router is a Gigaset SE567, if that helps.
