  • How do I set the current point in a CG graphics context?

    - by Joe
    When running the code below in the iphone simulator I get the error : CGContextClosePath: no current point. Why is the current point not being set? Or is the context not set to the correct state? CGContextBeginPath(ctx); CGMutablePathRef pathHolder; pathHolder = CGPathCreateMutable(); //move to point for the initial point NSLog(@"Drawing a state point %f, %f", [[holder.points objectAtIndex:0] floatValue], [[holder.points objectAtIndex:1] floatValue]); CGPathMoveToPoint(pathHolder, NULL, [[holder.points objectAtIndex:0] floatValue], [[holder.points objectAtIndex:1] floatValue]); for(int x = 2; x < [holder.points count] - 1; x += 2) { NSLog(@"Drawing a state point %f, %f", [[holder.points objectAtIndex:x] floatValue], [[holder.points objectAtIndex:(x+1)] floatValue]); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pathHolder, NULL, [[holder.points objectAtIndex:x] floatValue], [[holder.points objectAtIndex:(x+1)] floatValue]); } CGContextClosePath(ctx); CGContextFillPath(ctx);

  • C#: Windows Forms: What could cause Invalidate() to not redraw?

    - by Rosarch
    I'm using Windows Forms. For a long time, pictureBox.Invalidate(); worked to make the screen be redrawn. However, it now doesn't work and I'm not sure why. this.worldBox = new System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox(); this.worldBox.BackColor = System.Drawing.SystemColors.Control; this.worldBox.BorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.BorderStyle.FixedSingle; this.worldBox.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(170, 82); this.worldBox.Name = "worldBox"; this.worldBox.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(261, 250); this.worldBox.TabIndex = 0; this.worldBox.TabStop = false; this.worldBox.MouseMove += new System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventHandler(this.worldBox_MouseMove); this.worldBox.MouseDown += new System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventHandler(this.worldBox_MouseDown); this.worldBox.MouseUp += new System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventHandler(this.worldBox_MouseUp); Called in my code to draw the world appropriately: view.DrawWorldBox(worldBox, canvas, gameEngine.GameObjectManager.Controllers, selectedGameObjects, LevelEditorUtils.PREVIEWS); View.DrawWorldBox: public void DrawWorldBox(PictureBox worldBox, Panel canvas, ICollection<IGameObjectController> controllers, ICollection<IGameObjectController> selectedGameObjects, IDictionary<string, Image> previews) { int left = Math.Abs(worldBox.Location.X); int top = Math.Abs(worldBox.Location.Y); Rectangle screenRect = new Rectangle(left, top, canvas.Width, canvas.Height); IDictionary<float, ICollection<IGameObjectController>> layers = LevelEditorUtils.LayersOfControllers(controllers); IOrderedEnumerable<KeyValuePair<float, ICollection<IGameObjectController>>> sortedLayers = from item in layers orderby item.Key descending select item; using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(worldBox.Image)) { foreach (KeyValuePair<float, ICollection<IGameObjectController>> kv in sortedLayers) { foreach (IGameObjectController controller in kv.Value) { // ... float scale = controller.View.Scale; float width = controller.View.Width; float height = controller.View.Height; Rectangle controllerRect = new Rectangle((int)controller.Model.Position.X, (int)controller.Model.Position.Y, (int)(width * scale), (int)(height * scale)); // cull objects that aren't intersecting with the canvas if (controllerRect.IntersectsWith(screenRect)) { Image img = previews[controller.Model.HumanReadableName]; g.DrawImage(img, controllerRect); } if (selectedGameObjects.Contains(controller)) { selectionRectangles.Add(controllerRect); } } } foreach (Rectangle rect in selectionRectangles) { g.DrawRectangle(drawingPen, rect); } selectionRectangles.Clear(); } worldBox.Invalidate(); } What could I be doing wrong here?

  • JAVA: How to use paint() method to update the previously drawn object?

    - by GamDroid
    How to use paint() such that when repaint() is called the previously drawn object should not get deleted when drawing the new object. That is the drawing area must get UPDATED only and not REDRAWN. In my code when one of many button is clicked, some aplhabet get displayed. I want to have functionality such that when other buttons are clicked the previously drawn alhabets must be present.Take is as if a string of alphabets getting created as the buttons are clicked. Im using Java Swing for coding. Some piece of my code: if(source == btnAlpha[i] ) bollyDraw.repaint(); //bollydraw is an object of a JPanel extended class having implemented the paintComponent(Graphics g) method In the paint() method: if (word[i] == key) { g.drawChars(word, i, 1, x, y); }

  • GDI fast scroll

    - by genesys
    Hi! I use GDI to create some custom textwidget. I draw directly to the screen, unbuffered. now i'd like to implement some fast scrolling, that simply pixelshifts the respective part of the framebuffer (and only redraws the newly visible lines). I noticed that for example the rich text controls does it like this. If i use some GDI drawing functions to directly draw to the framebuffer, over a rich text control, and then scroll the rich text, it will also scroll my drawing along with the text. so i assume the rich text simply pixelshifts it's part of the framebuffer. I'd like to do the same, but don't know how to do so. Can someone help? (independant of programming language)) thanks!

As you can see I've placed several traces and in the property of the class my trace works fine , however if I look in my Draw function it is already gone. And I get a blank trace. Does anyone know what's happening here. thanks in advance. (forgive me I'm new )

  • How much more complex is it to draw simple curves, lines and circles in OpenGL ES rather than in Qua

    - by mystify
    Is OpenGL ES really so much faster? Why? And is it really so horrible complicated to draw such simple things in OpenGL ES compared to drawing these in Quartz 2D? For example, I have a UIView subclass with -drawRect: implemented, where I draw some lines, curves and circles. Just simple paths, with some shadow. What would I do in OpenGL ES? Isn't there this nice EAGLView layer thing? One thing that comes to mind is how do touch events go into OpenGL ES? Maybe that's the complex thing about it? Are there tutorials on basic drawing operations in OpenGL ES?

  • Keeping WPF grids from getting out of parent bounds

    - by Jonathan Perry
    In my UI, I have a big grid with two columns and one row. in the right column, I have a grid with three rows where in the top row I have a user control, and in the two bottom rows I have two Expander objects, each containing an ItemsControl with a list that gets populated in runtime. Sometimes, that list gets really long and "spills" from the screen towards the bottom. What I want to do is to allow the user to see both expanders, be able to expand or collapse them while keeping them both in sight. I tried wrapping them in WrapPanels or StackPanel but to no avail. Here's some code to help explain my problem: <Grid Grid.Row="1" x:Name="grid1"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Expander Grid.Row="0" Header="Expander 1" x:Name="expander1" FontSize="14" IsExpanded="True"> <Expander.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="#FFC4C4C4" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="1" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Expander.Background> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding ViewModel.OpenAlerts, ElementName=m_viewControl}" ClipToBounds="True"/> </Expander> <Expander Grid.Row="1" x:Name="expander2" Header="Expander 2" FontSize="14" IsExpanded="True"> <Expander.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="#FFC4C4C4" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="1" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Expander.Background> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding ViewModel.ClosedAlerts, ElementName=m_viewControl}" ClipToBounds="True"/> </Expander> </Grid> Any assistance or tips will be highly appreciated! Thanks, John.

  • Using glRotate and glTranslate with collision detection.

    - by Cetra
    Hey guys, Say I use glRotate to translate the current view based on some arbitrary user input (i.e, if key left is pressed then rtri+=2.5f) glRotatef(rtri,0.0f,1.0f,0.0f); Then I draw the triangle in the rotated position: glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES); // Drawing Using Triangles glVertex3f( 0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); // Top glVertex3f(-1.0f,-1.0f, 0.0f); // Bottom Left glVertex3f( 1.0f,-1.0f, 0.0f); // Bottom Right glEnd(); // Finished Drawing The Triangle How do I get the resulting translated vertexes for use in collision detection? Or will I have to manually apply the transform myself and thus doubling up the work? The reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind implementing display lists.

  • Vbscript / webcam. using flash API - Save streaming file as image

    - by remi
    Hi. Based on a php app we've tried to developp our own webapp in vbscript. All is working well. The camera starts, etc.. The problem we're left with is the following: the flash API is streaming the content of the video to a webpage, this page saves the photo as a jpg. The PHP code we're trying to emulate is as follow $str = file_get_contents("php://input"); file_put_contents("/tmp/upload.jpg", pack("H*", $str)); After intensive googling the best we can come up with is Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Dim sImagePath As String = Server.MapPath("/registration/") & "test.jpg" Dim data As Byte() = Request.BinaryRead(Request.TotalBytes) Dim Ret As Array Dim imgbmp As New System.Drawing.Bitmap("test.jpg") Dim ms As MemoryStream = New MemoryStream(data) imgbmp.Save(ms, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg) Ret = ms.ToArray() Dim fs As New FileStream(sImagePath, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write) fs.Write(Ret, 0, Ret.Length) fs.Flush() fs.Close() End Sub which is not working, does anybody have any suggestion?

  • Generating a readable colour from RGB?

    - by Joe Simpson
    Hi, I'm putting in a function which will allow a user to input a color (eg: purple) and it will change the look of their profile to be purple. It's interpreted from text into a 'Color' class which stores them inside itself as RGB numbers (int for red, one for green and other for blue). What i don't know how to do is logically turn these three numbers into another 3 which will make a readable colour. Can anyone help me on how to do this? Joe

  • Programming graphics and sound on PC - Total newbie questions, and lots of them!

    - by Russel
    Hello, This isn't exactly specifically a programming question (or is it?) but I was wondering: How are graphics and sound processed from code and output by the PC? My guess for graphics: There is some reserved memory space somewhere that holds exactly enough room for a frame of graphics output for your monitor. IE: 800 x 600, 24 bit color mode == 800x600x3 = ~1.4MB memory space Between each refresh, the program writes video data to this space. This action is completed before the monitor refresh. Assume a simple 2D game: the graphics data is stored in machine code as many bytes representing color values. Depending on what the program(s) being run instruct the PC, the processor reads the appropriate data and writes it to the memory space. When it is time for the monitor to refresh, it reads from each memory space byte-for-byte and activates hardware depending on those values for each color element of each pixel. All of this of course happens crazy-fast, and repeats x times a second, x being the monitor's refresh rate. I've simplified my own likely-incorrect explanation by avoiding talk of double buffering, etc Here are my questions: a) How close is the above guess (the three steps)? b) How could one incorporate graphics in pure C++ code? I assume the practical thing that everyone does is use a graphics library (SDL, OpenGL, etc), but, for example, how do these libraries accomplish what they do? Would manual inclusion of graphics in pure C++ code (say, a 2D spite) involve creating a two-dimensional array of bit values (or three dimensional to include multiple RGB values per pixel)? Is this how it would be done waaay back in the day? c) Also, continuing from above, do libraries such as SDL etc that use bitmaps actual just build the bitmap/etc files into machine code of the executable and use them as though they were build in the same matter mentioned in question b above? d) In my hypothetical step 3 above, is there any registers involved? Like, could you write some byte value to some register to output a single color of one byte on the screen? Or is it purely dedicated memory space (=RAM) + hardware interaction? e) Finally, how is all of this done for sound? (I have no idea :) )

  • Accessing View in awakeFromNib?

    - by fuzzygoat
    I have been trying to set a UIImageView background color (see below) in awakeFromNib [imageView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:0 green:0 blue:0 alpha:1.0]]; When it did not work, I realised that its probably because the view has not loaded yet and I should move the color change to viewDidLoad. Can I just verify that I have this right? gary

  • C# Image saving from onPaint method

    - by cheesebunz
    Hi anyone knows how to save an image from the rectangle i created? protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { Bitmap bitmap = new Bitmap(@"Pictures/testing.jpg"); Image img = bitmap; int width = testing.Width / 3; int height = testing.Height / 3; Rectangle destrect = new Rectangle(0, 0, width, height); GraphicsUnit units = GraphicsUnit.Pixel; System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageAttributes imageAttr= new System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageAttributes(); //1.1.jpg// //e.Graphics.DrawImage(img,destrect,0,0, width, height, units, imageAttr); //1.2.jpg// e.Graphics.DrawImage(img, destrect, width, 0,width, height, units, imageAttr); base.OnPaint(e); } I have the desired image that is cropped but i don't know how to save .. Would greatly appreciate any help .
