• Does SQLite handle non-English locales out of the box?

  I have noticed that Google Toolbox for Mac replaces several SQLite built-in functions (LOWER/UPPER, LIKE, GLOB) with its own versions that handle string locales better. So, question to everyone who has SQLite experience: have you ever had any problems with non-English locales in SQLite? Does one really have to do something to properly handle non-English alphabets? What kinds of problems are expected if I use SQLite APIs as-is? (I'm going to use SQLite on the iPhone, but I guess it's the same across all platforms. I've been using Core Data previously and never had any problems, but this time I want to switch to non-ORMed db access.)

• ScrolledWindow and wx.EVT_LEAVE_WINDOW

  Hi everyone! I have a frame with a textctrl. When the mouse enters the textctrl (EVT_ENTER_WINDOW) I show a PopupWindow on top of the textctrl, and when the mouse leaves the popup (EVT_LEAVE_WINDOW) I hide it again. Everything works fine, except when inside the PopupWindow there's a ScrolledWindow with shown scrollbars. The EVT_LEAVE_WINDOW gets fired when I move the mouse on top of a scrollbar, so it looks like wxPython thinks the scrollbars are not part of the scrolledwindow.. :/ I tried binding the event to the popup or the scrollwindow itself, but nothing changes.. Is there a way I could get around this? Many thanks! (wxPython 2.8.8.0 on Xubuntu 8.10)

  Hi everyone, i'm having problems trying to update an annotation location with different coordinates. Is there any way I can change de location property without having to create another annotation? I've tried the code below with no luck. The annotation i'm trying to get is not updating its location. Please help! • What is resource-ref in web.xml used for?

  Hi everyone, I'm just wondering when/why you would define a resource-ref element in your web.xml file? I would have thought that it would be defined in your web/app server using JNDI and then look up the JNDI reference in your Java code? The resource-ref definition seems a bit redundant to me and I can't think of when it might be useful.   Hi Guys, Like everyone of us, I have my own dreams about developing the next cool product that will be adopted by many users and become industry standard. Surprisingly, I find that the most challenging task is to keep my website up & running. My site is being hacked again and again no matter what I do - I blocked the FTP connections, changed the Joomla (CMS) database table names, installed all latest patches and what not. The web site supports the product (over 1800 users now...) by generating licenses, support forums, documentation, galleries etc. The product which is a winforms application cannot be marketed without this web site. My question: Do you have any innovative idea about securing joomla based web sites or what is the best secured web hosting you know. currently i'm hosting my site at ixwebhosting and i like them very much but obviously i can't do any serious marketing being hacked over and over again Thank you very much, Adi Barda

• Have you been in cases where TDD increased development time?

  Hello everyone :) I was reading http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2512504/tdd-how-to-start-really-thinking-tdd and I noticed many of the answers indicate that tests + application should take less time than just writing the application. In my experience, this is not true. My problem though is that some 90% of the code I write has a TON of operating system calls. The time spent to actually mock these up takes much longer than just writing the code in the first place. Sometimes 4 or 5 times as long to write the test as to write the actual code. I'm curious if there are other developers in this kind of a scenario.

• How do i create an array of unequal length arrays?

  Hello everyone, I need to create a sort of 2D array in which each one of the secondary arrays are of different length. I have a 1D array of known length (which defines the number of arrays to be formed) with each element having a number that denotes the length of the secondary array in that position. Each one of the arrays are fairly large so i don't want to create a one-size-fits-all "fake" 2D heap array to cover everything. How would i go about doing this? Any 2D array I have made before are always rectangular. I'm trying to do this so that i can create some code to dynamically generate threads to split up some workload. Thanks, -Faken

  Hello everyone. I have a model Fix with a relationship HABTM Device model. Device model has a belongsTo to Device_type model, like this, for only getting the device type name: var $belongsTo = array('Device_type'=>array('fields'=>'name')); So, I need every Fix, its devices and its Device_types. When I make a Fix->find('all', array('recursive' => 2)) I expect to get every Device related to Fix (this works ok) and ALSO for every device, its Device_type.name (which is not working). This is what I get instead for every Device in the result (an empty array): ["Device_type"]=> array(0) { } Besides this, when I make this query for testing: Fix->Device->find('all'), it returns the current Device_type.names for every device related to fixes, which means models are related propertly. Any help? Thanks.

  Hello everyone! First time using this service for a question. I hope I am not asking something that has already been answered. I attempted to find an answer to my question with the search engine but i was unable to. My question is as follows: Using php, javascript, or anything actually, is it possible for me to track how my users are viewing the pages on my blog/website? Specifically, I want to track the time the user's browser spends reading specific sections of my content on the same page. For example, it would answer questions such as: How much time did someone spend reading the introduction to my article vs the conclusion? (located on the same page) Basically, tracking the "eyes" of a web visitor by looking at where the browser is currently scrolled down the page too. I'm sorry if i'm a bit noob! • Jquery Accordion Close then Open

  Hi Everyone, I've set up a number of accordions on a page using the jquery accordion plugin so I can implement expand all and collapse all functionality. Each ID element is it's own accordion and the code below works to close them all no matter which ones are already open: $("#contact, #address, #email, #sales, #equipment, #notes, #marketingdata") .accordion("activate", -1) ; My problem is with the expand all. When I have them all expand with this code: $("#contact, #address, #email, #sales, #equipment, #notes, #marketingdata") .accordion("activate", 0) ; Some will contract and some will expand based on whether or not they are previously open. My idea to correct this was to collapse them all and then expand them all when the expand all was clicked. This code however won't execute properly: $("#contact, #address, #email, #sales, #equipment, #notes, #marketingdata") .accordion("activate", -1) ; $("#contact, #address, #email, #sales, #equipment, #notes, #marketingdata") .accordion("activate", 0) ; It will only hit the second command and not close them all first. Any suggestions?

  Hello, I'm new to TDD approach so I'm wondering if anyone experienced wit this could enlighten me a little. I would like to get some leads how to use UML and TDD methodology together. I've been used to: Design with UML -- Generate skeleton classes (and then keep it synchronized) - Implement and finally Test. I must admit that testing part was the worst one, so I started to look for something else - TDD. So I have some general knowledge what is it about but before I proceed further, I am interested knowing how it goes together with software design especially UML. So when I first design/create test, how can UML fit in? Would it be possible to design classes first, from them create skeleton classes, from them generate Unit tests which would be "filled" before actual implementation of UML pregenerated classes, would this approach break whole TDD? Or is there any other way that would keep UML and TDD together? Thanks everyone for answer.

• how to make tooltip move along with mouse?

  Hello everyone, I am using Silverlight 3 + VSTS 2008. I have a image (Multiscale image control) and I place tooltip on this image. The function of Tooltip works fine. Since the image is big (about 500 * 500 size), and since end user could move mouse on the picture, and I want to display tooltip position along with the mouse (i.e. when mouse moves, I want to tooltip move along with the mouse). Currently, the tooltip displays at a fixed position.   Hello Everyone, I was working on a site of Cakephp which was successfully delivered.But recently Client again appered and asked me to put the Wordpress blog in it,to cover up the Blogging thing in his site.He wants to share the authentication between the Cakephp and WP.Whoever registers in his site,then Logins in it and if he clicks on the Blog Tab,he must be redirected to the WP blog with the session still there.After some googling I have installed it in /app/webroot/blog folder but I am not able to edit the .htaccess file. Please help me in the right direction,that how to share the authentication betwenn Cake Php and Wordpress, and the second one how to customize the .htaccess file so that URL's look good. • Using bash shell from within PHP

  Hi everyone, In my terminal window (using Max OS X) my shell is bash. However when I run a command in PHP via shell_exec or backtick operators I see that PHP is using the Bourne Shell (sh). Here's an example of what I'm seeing: From within my terminal window: $ echo $0 - bash Also if I call php as follows: $ php -r "echo shell_exec('echo $0');" -bash However, if I create a script called test.php with the following: <?php echo shell_exec('echo $0'); ?> And then run test php I get the following: $ php test.php sh I'm wanting to use the bash shell when calling shell_exec - why is it choosing the Bourne shell and can I force it to use bash? I have asked here how to get a partial working to show the latest entry in the kase model, but now I need to show the latest 5 entries in the kase model in a partial. • Drupal Imagecache not working

  I created an Imagecache setting that just resizes to 125px wide. First issue is that the preview image is 404. Then I want to print out an image via <?php print theme('imagecache', 'imported_image', $node->picture, 'test', 'test', $attributes); ?> 'imported_image' being the preset and $node-picture is a correct path. The html prints out ok but the path it's trying load the image from does not exist. In sites/default/files/imagecache there is no folder with the name of the preset. Flushing the preset does nothing. The imagecache folder is writeable by everyone. This is on MAMP. Anyone know what the issue could be?
