  I've heard that OpenGL ES and standard iPhone UI controls don't play well together, but I'm wondering if anyone knows why, and what the effects are? I'm writing an OpenGL based game, and the view is loaded from a nib file with ui controls, and it seems to work ok, but the game is really simple at this point... does using ui controls cause some kind of performance hit?

However, as for my purposes it's not adequate to load the contents lazily, I have the following question: How can I create an object hierarchy (of, say, the custom FileOrDirectory class with the standard children,count,isLeaf attributes) from the information I load from the enumeratorAtURL: method?   How to put overlay view (NSImageView) and keep it at the top in front of a WebView ( which runs core animation or )? Standard ordering in interface builder does not help.. imageview is shown in front of the webview but when i load the contents of webview with a tag or only just an html opacity animation, suddently webview takeovers the top position and shows over the imageview. Can't i do this?

• Proper way to resignFirstResponder when a UITableView is touched?

  Hello all, I have a pretty simple UITableView who's cells contain UITextFields and I need to be able to call resignFirstResponder to hide the keyboard whenever a user touches the UITableView outside of one of the cells. I have read this question/answer but it seems like a very rudimentary way to achieve this. I have read about a way to do it by converting the UITableView to a UIControl so that you can connect the TouchDown event. Does anybody know the standard or preferred way to achieve this functionality?

• msys+mingw - is there installer or at least .tar.lzma/.zip?

  I try to install n'th time the msys+mingw - however with little success. I need the minimal developer system (standard tools such as sed/awk+autotools+gcc) however each time something is not working (for example currently when I try to run autotools m4 goes into some error loop on AC_INIT). I know they stopped providing installer 'for easy update of components' and they are working on something but maybe there is something unofficial.

  I notice the standard regex syntax for matching across multiple lines is to use /s, like so: This is\nsome text /This.*text/s This works in Perl for instance but doesn't seem to be supported in Vim. Instead, I have to be much more specific: /This[^\r\n]*[\r\n]*text/ I can't find any reason for why this should be, so I'm thinking I probably just missed the relevant bits in the vim help. Can anyone confirm this behaviour one way or the other?
