• How to launch a dependent application on OS X?

  What is the programmatical mechanism by which an application can be launched at a result of another one being launched? E.g. upon launching iTunes, the Last.fm desktop launches too. Or it is just a question of substituting a "batch file" of some sort? Note: OS X newbie.

• Xml with spaces as InnerText

  I'm parsing Xml data which has entries like this: <item name="UserText" type_name="gh_string" type_code="10"> </item> I'm supposed to read the 6 spaces as a String, but both the InnerText and InnerXml values of the System.Xml.XmlNode are zero length Strings. Is there any way I can get at this whitespace data in existing files and what do I need to do in the future to prevent this sort of screw up?

• Displaying Data on the Windows Form

  I'm searching files and returning lines that include the search text, and I'm not really sure the best way to display the information I get. Every time I get a match, I want to show, in some sort of control, the File it came from, and the whole text line. (aka streamreader.ReadLine() result). First I tried just putting it all in a read-only text box, but it doesn't have a scroll bar. What is the best form control to help me display this data neatly?

• Filter a CSV list in XSLT

  Hello SO; I'm trying to convert xml elements whose content is a csv list of identifiers, the exact form doesn't matter. I want to exclude every item that contains the character "/". The best I've come up with is translate(./someElement, ",*/*", "") but this has at least two problems; I'm pretty sure that xsl doesn't accept wildcards, and "," is an illegal character in xpaths. Is there a straightforward way to do this sort of thing?

• Ext JS - Can I 'chain' methods on a field ??

  HI, I am just trying to set a field value and disable it at the same time. Can this be done in ext js? The docs are very weak on this subject. something like this generates errors: myForm.getForm().findField('start_date').setValue('').setDisabled(true); I'm used to JQuery which does this sort of thing nicely but haven't had luck with Ext. • mysql: managing memory usage

  i am doing a delete with a LIKE statement my keybuffer is 25m, the sort buffer size is 256k the delete has been taking over 2 hours should i increase memory usage? there are about 50 megs of data in the table from which i am deleting, thats about 500,000 rows is there anything else i can do on the adminsitration size to speed up this delete?

Table A has following columns: id name description Table B has the following columns: id a_id(foreign key to Table A) ip_address date Basically Table B contains a row for each time a user views a row from Table A. • Iphone SDK- How to insert a banner in my app

  I have a tableview that my app shows when it loads, I would like to somehow put a banner at the bottom that if connceted to the internet will check my server for any new image files and if there are it will replace the current one and if not it will just leave it. After searching I found a nifty trick to see the content of the array in the "Watch 1" tab, (How to view contents of an array while debugging in Code Blocks?), but going from "watch 1" to "Autos" every step to see what's changing in the array isn't practical at all. Result Is: <input id="SortBy" name="SortBy" type="hidden" value=""/>. The value is null and it's not being passed but all the other hidden fields such as carMake and etc have value. But when I use foreach it works perfect. Question Why is this like this? the SortBy is in the same model class as other fields in the view. The only difference is that SortBy is not being filled in the Index view with other fields, instead it's being filled in controller action. What is the explanation for this? Am I missing any C# definition or something such as dynamic objects or something?

  I have many columns in oracle database and some new are added with values. I like to find out which columns have values other than 0 or null. So I am looking for column names for which some sort of useful values exists at least in one row. How do I do this? Update: This sounds very close.
