• suddenly cannot mount nfs share from windows 7

  I recently reinstalled my file server (moved from fedora to ubuntu server). Now I cannot mount my nfs share from windows 7, mounting from mac osx works fine. In windows I either keep getting "the semaphore timeout period has expired" or "an unexpected error has occured". Does ubuntu need some special magic to allow windows 7 to mount an nfs share? This is my exports file /home/bing/ 192.168.1.*(rw,async,insecure,no_subtree_check) /home/bing/mnt/EXTRN2 192.168.1.*(rw,async,insecure,no_subtree_check) /home/bing/mnt/EXTRN3 192.168.1.*(rw,async,insecure,no_subtree_check)

• How Do I enable Safe Asynchronous Write With NFS?

  The NFSv3 documentation talks alot about the concept of "safe asynchronous writes" (last bullet of A1): http://nfs.sourceforge.net/#section_a This is NOT referring to the sync/async option in the server exports file (as the async option in the exports file is NOT safe). As I understand it, safe asynchronous writes is a hybrid between the sync/async exports option. It allows for a server to reply back without flushing to stable storage immediately, but the client will not remove the write request from cache until it has received confirmation that it has been committed to stable storage (and also detects if the server looses power/reboots). I believe that this option is set on the client side, but I have not come across any documentation that shows how to do this. Any ideas?

  In my last post I talked about using funcs in C# to do async calls in WinForms to free up the main thread for the UI. In that post I demonstrated calling a method and then waiting until the value came back. Today I want to talk about calling a method and then continuing on and handling the results of the async call in a callback.The difference is that in the previous example although the UI would not lock up the user couldn't really do anything while the other thread was working because it was waiting for it to finish. This time I want to allow the user to continue to do other stuff while waiting for the thread to finish.Like before I have a service call I want to make that takes a long time to finish defined in a method called MyServiceCall. We need to define a callback method takes an IAsyncResult parameter.public ServiceCallResult MyServiceCall(int param1)...public int MyCallbackMethod(IAsyncResult ar)...We start the same way by defining a delegate to the service call method using a Func. We need to pass an AsyncCallback object into the BeginInvoke method. This will tell it to call our callback method when MyServiceCall finishes. The second parameter to BeginInvoke is the Func delegate. This will give us access to it in our callback.Func<int, ServiceCallResult> f = MyServiceCall;AsyncCallback callback =   new AsyncCallback(MyCallbackMethod);IAsyncResult async = f.BeginInvoke(23, callback, f); Now let's expand the callback method. The IAsyncResult parameter contains the Func delegate in its AsyncState property. We call EndInvoke on that Func to get the return value.public int MyCallbackMethod(IAsyncResult ar){    Func<int, ServiceCallResult> delegate =        (Func<int, ServiceCallResult>)ar.AsyncState;    ServiceCallResult result = delegate.EndInvoke(ar);}There you have it.   I can't change Firefox's menu background color using userChrome.css on Windows 7. menubar, menubutton, menulist, menu, menuitem { color: red !important; background-color: orange !important; } This seems to work as the menubar changes to red and orange. But the background-color on the actual drop down menu stays the same (that Windows 7 menu look), although the text color does change to red. Any ideas??

  can i convert phone wiring in walls to act as only Ethernet network cause the phone wiring is not in use and not connected to the phone company so there is no voltage in the wires i remove the wall plate and i find 6 wires blue,blue/white,green,green/white,orange,orange/white , and i know that Ethernet use 8 here is what i am thinking get Ethernet cable cut it in half and attach wires from wall to the first computer and the same with the other computer so if this is possible do i just attach wires in the same color and ignore brown wire or do i have to rearrange wires , and how much the speed will be thank you in advance

Oversimplifying a little, let's say I have files named: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] and so on, and I want to make: apple.png orange.png pear.png, and so on, with the output files all at half the scale of the corresponding input files. Is there a good tool for that? I have about 200 input files, so preferably the whole process would be automated.

I have, for example, the following list, each item separated by comma: monkeys, dogs, cats pineapple, banana, orange yellow, red, blue, green silver, gold, platinum delphi, java, c++, visual basic I want to sort each line alphabetically, WITHOUT changing line order. My desired result would be: cats, dogs, monkeys banana, orange, pineapple blue, green, red, yellow gold, platinum, silver c++, delphi, java, visual basic My target list has got 3000+ lines, so it should be an automated process.   Take these two lists: List 1 Red Green Blue List 2 Brown Red Blue Purple Orange I'm looking for a way to combine these lists together to produce: List 3 Brown Red Green Blue Purple Orange I think the basic rules are these: 1) Insert on top the list any row falling before the first common row (e.g., Brown comes before the first common row, Red); 2) Insert items between rows if both lists have two items (e.g., List 1 inserts Green between Red and Blue); and 3) Insert rows on the bottom if the there's no "between-ness" found in 2 (e.g., List 2 inserts Orange at the bottom). The lists are stored in a DataTable. I'm guessing I'll have to switch between them while iterating, but I'm having a hard time figuring out a method of combining the rows. • C# pulling out columns from combobox text

  What i have is four comboboxes and two files. If the column matches the combobox i need to write it out to a file but it has to appened with the second combobox. So for example Combobox1: Apple | Orange Combobox2: Pineapple | Plum I have selected Apple Plum I need to search threw a text file and find whatever columns is Apple or Plum: Orange|Pear|Peach|Turnip|Monkey|Apple|Grape|Plum and then i need to write out just the columns Apple|Plum to a new text file. Any help would be awesome! Sorry for the lame example, but hopefully you get the idea. Is there a way to constrain the enum values that PeelFruit will accept? Obvisouly I could check them in the method with a switch or something, but it would be cool if there was a way to do it that is a) a bit more compact, and b) would cause a compile time error, not a run time error. So if the user entered: "orange" it should match an entry "orange' in the dictionary. Now the catch is that the user can also enter a wildcard or series of wildcard characters like say "or__ge" which would also match "orange" The key requirements are: * this should be as fast as possible. * use the smallest amount of memory to achieve it. If the size of the word list was small I could use a string containing all the words and use regular expressions. however given that the word list could contain potentially hundreds of thousands of enteries I'm assuming this wouldn't work. So is some sort of 'tree' be the way to go for this...? Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be totally appreciated! Thanks in advance, Matt

  I'm trying to include a file (/wp-load.php) at the beginning of the /html/ directory.   Hey everyone, If my table looks like this: id | colA | colB | colC =========================== 1 | red | blue | yellow 2 | orange | red | red 3 | orange | blue | cyan What SELECT query do I run such that the results returned are: blue, cyan, orange, red, yellow Basically, I want to extract a collective list of distinct values across multiple columns and return them in alphabetical order. I am not concerned with performance optimization, because the results are being parsed to an XML file that will serve as a cache (database is hardly updated). So even a dirty solution would be fine.   I am struggling with the print in a table part of the question. So far I have managed to order the user inputted sentence alphabetically and count the number of times each word occurs. Here is the code: thestring = (raw_input()) sentence = thestring.split(" ") sentence.sort() count = {} for word in thestring.split(): try: count[word] += 1 except KeyError: count[word] = 1 print sentence print count And when I run the code I get this: ['apple', 'apple', 'banana', 'mango', 'orange', 'pear', 'pear', 'strawberry'] {'apple': 2, 'pear': 2, 'strawberry': 1, 'mango': 1, 'orange': 1, 'banana': 1} However, ideally I want it printed in a table that looks something like: apple.....|.....2 banana....|.....1 mango.....|.....1 orange....|.....1 pear......|.....2 strawberry|.....1 Thanks for any help!

• Change highlighting of certain subviews in a UITableViewCell

  Is it possible to exclude certain subviews in a UITableViewCell from being highlighted or to change their highlight implementation? I added an orange warning label to the UITableViewCell for certain occassions and it highlights properly with the rest of the cell, which is good. However, when the cells stops being highlighted in an animated way, you first see the background of the warning label become white and then flash to orange. I would either like it to be excluded from being highlighted at all, or to change it's highlight implementation so it animates back to orange properly.

• VS2010 compiles solution without errors, msbuild fails: "fatal error CS0002: Unable to load message string from resources"

  I'm having a lot of trouble trying to track down the cause of this error message. I have a large Visual Studio 2010 solution which compiles without error on my local machine but on the build server, msbuild fails on one of the projects with the error: fatal error CS0002: Unable to load message string from resources Here's the red error section at the end: Build FAILED. "C:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\85eff164854b9e67\Libraries\Domainface.Proxy.Common\Domainface.Proxy.Common.csproj" (default target) (9) -> (CoreCompile target) -> CSC : fatal error CS0002: Unable to load message string from resources. [C:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\85eff164854b9e67\Libraries\Domainface.Proxy.Common\Domainface.Proxy.Common.csproj] 0 Warning(s) 1 Error(s) The entire msbuild output from the build server is here: http://pastie.org/3660842 What does the error generally refer to, that would cause it to build locally but not on the build server? UPDATE I have just run msbuild /version on both machines and it turns out the .net framework versions are very slightly different. Local machine is 4.0.30319.488 and build server is 4.0.30319.1. I'm about to run windows update on the server to allow it to install some updates, as several seem to be .net framework-related, so I'll see if that makes a difference. UPDATE Installing the updates didn't help. Just remembered I copied up csc.exe from the async preview a little while ago in order to facilitate async compilation (the actual async preview had failed to install on the server due to visual studio not being there, but installing visual studio team viewer seems to have fixed that, so i've just run the proper async ctp3 installer to see if that makes a difference.

• Create a Task list, with tasks without executing

  I have an async method private async Task DoSomething(CancellationToken token) a list of Tasks private List<Task> workers = new List<Task>(); and I have to create N threads that runs that method public void CreateThreads(int n) { tokenSource = new CancellationTokenSource(); token = tokenSource.Token; for (int i = 0; i < n; i++) { workers.Add(DoSomething(token)); } } but the problem is that those have to run at a given time public async Task StartAllWorkers() { if (0 < workers.Count) { try { while (0 < workers.Count) { Task finishedWorker = await Task.WhenAny(workers.ToArray()); workers.Remove(finishedWorker); finishedWorker.Dispose(); } if (workers.Count == 0) { tokenSource = null; } } catch (OperationCanceledException) { throw; } } } but actually they run when i call the CreateThreads Method (before the StartAllWorkers). I searched for keywords and problems like mine but couldn't find anything about stopping the task from running. I've tried a lot of different aproaches but anything that could solve my problem entirely. For example, moving the code from DoSomething into a workers.Add(new Task(async () => { }, token)); would run the StartAllWorkers(), but the threads will never actually start. There is another method for calling the tokenSource.Cancel().

• problems piping in node.js

  We have the following example in node.js var http = require('http'); http.createServer(function(request, response) { var proxy = http.createClient(8083, '127.0.0.1') var proxy_request = proxy.request(request.method, request.url, request.headers); proxy_request.on('response', function (proxy_response) { proxy_response.pipe(response); response.writeHead(proxy_response.statusCode, proxy_response.headers); }); setTimeout(function(){ request.pipe(proxy_request); },3000); }).listen(8081, '127.0.0.1'); The example listen to a request in 127.0.0.1:8081 and sends it to a dummy server (always return 200 OK status code) in 127.0.0.1:8083. The problem is in the pipe among the input stream (readable) and output stream (writable) when we have a async module before (in this case the setTimeOut timing). The pipe doesn't work and nothing is sent to dummy server in 8083 port. Maybe, when we have a async call (in this case the setTimeOut) before the pipe call, the inputstream change to a state "not readable", and after the async call the pipe doesn't send anything. This is just an example...we test it with more async modules from node.js community with the same result (ldapjs, etc)... We try to fix it with: - request.readable =true; //before pipe call - request.pipe(proxy_request, {end : false}); with the same result (the pipe doesn't work). Can anybody help us? • Why isn't Startup Disk Creator working in 12.04?

  I'm trying to create a bootable USB stick (7.5G) for Ubuntu 12.04 (x86_64) from another Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 PC. I downloaded the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120425). When I run Make Startup Disk, I selected the downloaded release. The drive shows up with a capacity of 7.5GB and a blank space under "Free Space". I have tried using the "Erase Disk" button, which seems to erase the disk. The problem is that the options below the "Disk to use" section are grayed out. The "Make Startup Disk" is colored dull orange, while the source disc image and device to use are bright orange. The "Make Startup Disk" button doesn't do anything when I click it. The only working buttons are "Other...", "Erase Disk", and "Close". Upon using Other button to select the ISO, it allows to select the ISO but it doesn't load and the "Source Disk Image" field remains empty.
