  • Backup Xen domU machines while running.

    The host machine is running CentOS 5.3 and using LVM to create Logical Volumes (LVs) and to allow live snapshots to be taken of those LVs. My thought was to store all of the image files for the Xen underpriviledged domains (domU) in a single LV and periodically take a snapshot of that LV and copy the disk images out of the snapshot in order to make a live backup of these systems. Is this doable? Is there a better way? Thanks!

  • Logging in as the same user multiple times in Remote Desktop Windows Server 2008

    Quick question: I have a situation where I need to let multiple people on different PCs log into one server 2008 machine as administrator simultaneously over remote desktop. I have the CALs for it, it's just not set up correctly. When one user tries to log in, it boots the other out. What I need is to present to them a different session, just each as logged in as admin. We are only using the MailMan website for the administrators and need the moderators to be able to at least subscribe people and/or accept subscription requests from users.     In my web application I need to extract the real ip address for clients behind proxy, after searching I found that the possible method to do that is to read the content of "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header , I am using java servlet and the headers of the incoming request doesn't contain "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header , So why the header doesn't included in the request? I am using java 1.7 , tomcat v7 , proxy server :TMG and configured to use "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header . Please advice. Thanks in advance.

    I have a situation here. I have an intrusion detection system and it constantly alerts me that a remote host is accessing our AD's registry remotely. Our remote hosts are mainly Windows XP and our ADs are W2K8. The remote hosts access them over SMB port 445 Is it normal for Windows hosts to access AD's remote registry? My colleagues confirmed with me that both host and AD is clean from virus with endpoint protection enabled. Thanks.

    We have a sever that shares all the printers. The PC's that are running on XP professional get a error message quoting (Connect to Printer). The only way I can find to get around the problem is by restating the printer and as soon is it comes online you can then add it but you have not got long. do you think it could be anything to-do with updates on the sever? the sever system is running Windows Server 2003 any help would be much appreciated.   • Fedora 8 upgrade PHP > 5.2.4

    One of my current company servers is using old Fedora 8 and web apps compatible with PHP 5.2.x. Currently the PHP version is 5.2.4. I would like to upgrade it minimum 5.2.5 so that Drupal-7 can be installed on that machine. The problem is, there are no more repository for Fedora 8, and maybe here someone could help. I can't risk upgrading the OS since I'm not linux expert, and if anything goes wrong I could be in trouble. thanks

  • McAfee Security Scan appears out of thin air

    Hi, We have a Windows Server 2008 Standard edition server and when we logged in today a service, McAfee Security Scan, had been installed. I checked all the logs, but can't find any trace of who or how this install was initiated. We already use Nod32 so there would be no reason for us to install McAfee. Any idea how this happens? I did look for other installs like Flash or the like, but didn't see anything. Thanks Jacques

    I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and during my tries to free space I've removed several packages such as: openoffice, all editors, and some more packages such as players and printers drivers that I don't need and seem o.k to remove. However, after restart, the graphical interface doesn't load, I'm in the xserver, I have console but not gui. I was wondering if anyone can tell me which packages I should not remove or let me know of dependencies I need to consider when messing with packages? Thanks!

  • Can I import another users calendar into Outlook 2010 and maintain his color highlights?

    I am importing a colleagues complete Outlook 2010 calendar (sent by mail as .ics file). However, all coloring is lost: categories, automatically formatted entries, etc. are not visualized in my colleagues colors - just in a non-distinguishable standard office style. Is there a way that my colleague also sends me his color preferences, ie. to maintain his individual coloring in my view? Thanks in advance! Matthias
