    Hi, When I ran the uptime on my MacBookPro machine I got the following result: Last login: Thu Jun 3 14:43:40 on ttys000 Osama-Gamal-MBP-2:~ iOsama$ uptime 14:49 up 7 days, 20:10, 2 users, load averages: 0.29 0.24 0.24 Why it lists that there are two users? is it normal? and who is the other user, is it the root user or what? PS: I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.3

  • Windows 7 New Folder shortcut doesn't work, opens browser/Firefox

    I was so excited to hear that Windows 7 Explorer now has a hotkey to create a new folder (ctrl+shift+N), but I tried it on my machine, and it doesn't work!! If I press ctrl+shift+N in a Windows Explorer window, it opens up my default web browser (Firefox) and tries to open the last downloaded file. How do I get Create New Folder functionality back? Notes: Windows 7, Firefox is default browser. Keyboard is MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

I just downloaded and installed Notepad++ v5.4.5 (I have been using UltraEdit for the last 11.5 years) and can not find a menu command for changing the screen font.     My question is my Dell Optiplex 620 is not working properly !! when i turn it on it goes automaticaly to bios and says click on safe mode or safe network or best last start up or normal mode ?? but when i click on normal it comes back to that window then i click on safe mode and it works for about 5 min then it reboots its self every time what can i do ? i checked if there was a virus and its clean !! please help

    I want to migrate a PHP application from Apache to Nginx. The problem is that the App breaks, because the routing doesn't work anymore and I'm not exactly sure how to fix it. The PHP application includes some .htaccess files and I tried to convert those to Nginx.   • Google Chrome on Mac OS X, full screen option is greyed out, why?

    When I first installed Chrome the menu option for "full screen" was enabled and worked, but for the last few months is been greyed out/disabled. Is it just me or perhaps there is a bug which is why its disabled? I tried deleting the installed version and downloading a new copy, to no avail - but perhaps there is a setting in my local preferences that could be disabling it. Thanks in advance, Chris

  • Graphical corruption during Linux startup and shutdown - should I be worried?

    For the last month, when starting up or shutting down my laptop under Linux, I would get graphical corruption. Startup has an colour inverted, grainy rendition of what should be displayed while shutdown has a red background with all the text replaced by grey rectangles. At the very least this affects Fedora, Ubuntu and Xubuntu. Windows is not affected. Outside of startup/shutdown the system is fine. Should I be worrying about this?

    I have Lighttpd on Centos 5 with Fcgi and Memcached. Periodically, once per week or two i get internal server error 500 and i must manually restart lighttpd to get it to work again. In my lighttpd config I've defined error log file: server.errorlog = "/home/lxadmin/httpd/lighttpd/error.log" But when I open it, it has no rows for last days, only one month ago. So my question is how to diagnose what is the issue and how to enable error log for my configuration?

    My excel macros are no longer working as designed. Last week they worked as expected, this week a different result. I even tried a two year old version, it did not work the way it used to. Guy's conclusion an Office / Excel update changed the macro behaviour. Am I alone in this conclusion? If so I'll take a different troubleshooting approach.

  • What is causing my newly built PC to BSOD?

    I recently built my own PC from parts and installed Windows 7 and I have been getting BSODs with various different stop codes. The latest was 0x24, but I've also had 0xd1 and 0x1e. However, Windows does not let me know where the fault occurred, so I have no idea how to go about resolving this.     I have "installed" Archboot on my macbook air, and I am getting screen problems after it loads UDEV, it is last thing I can read. Basically I am following this instructions. But then I got error that when installing grub legacy. Something about that it has no support of gpt. And I cannot find anything about bios-compatibility. P.S. it only took one try too install it on macbook 6,2 and few dozens in macbook air without results.

    I've just read the support for Windows XP SP2 is going to expire in a couple of months: http://www.infoworld.com/d/windows/microsoft-end-support-windows-2000-xp-sp2-july-13-961 x86 users have XP3 which is going to last abit longer but XP x64 doesn't have SP3. Is there some kind of official response to this? Or is it just about time to panic (and buy win7)?

  • Can't boot Windows 8

    When I try to boot Windows 8, it starts automatic repair process which fails to repair it. It logs stuff in c:\windows\system32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt. After one of attempted automatic repairs, last line in that file said that tm.sys and clfs.sys files are corrupt (current version says "Startup Repair has tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem.") Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
