  • Possible to distribute an MPI (C++) program accross the internet rather than within a LAN cluster?

    Hi there, I've written some MPI code which works flawlessly on large clusters. Each node in the cluster has the same cpu architecture and has access to a networked (i.e. 'common') file system (so that each node can excecute the actual binary). But consider this scenario: I have a machine in my office with a dual core processor (intel). I have a machine at home with a dual core processor (amd). Both machines run linux, and both machines can successfully compile and run the MPI code locally (i.e. using 2 cores). Now, is it possible to link the two machines together via MPI, so that I can utilise all 4 cores, bearing in mind the different architectures, and bearing in mind the fact that there are no shared (networked) filesystems?     I'm trying to create an PHP object that can load objects in other files on demand when needed. My problem is that when I reference the files based on file location for the class definition, it can not find the files. So file structure: /Test.php /os/os.php (extends kernel) /os/kernel.php /os/libraries/lib1.php /os/libraries/lib2.php /os/libraries/lib3.php In kernel.php, the libraries are referenced as 'libraries/lib1.php'. If I create an "os" object in Test.php. The lib files are not found.

  • why does an event handler never gets called if its added within a loop on an ienumerable

    For instance: IEnumerable<MyType> list = someCollection.Select(i => new MyType(i)); foreach (var item in list) item.PropertyChanged += item_PropertyChanged; <-- this never gets called Bu if list is assigned like list = someCollection.Select(i => new MyType(i)).ToArray(); the event handler does get called.. Why? (i imagine it has something to do with the fact that a linq query is lazy, but the fact of looping through the result isn't enough??)

    Hi, Background - I need a framework/approach to managed database updates for a .NET Winforms app being deployed on users PC's via clickonce deploy. The app uses a sqlite database. Q1. What mechanism does Subsonic use to run such migrations on the local PC? e.g. would it be MSBuild Q2. If it does need a tool like how can my application robustly kick off MsBuild? i.e. how can it be sure what path it is installed, what if it is not installed, should I be including the MSBuild.exe in the clickonce package so that I know it is there for sure myself? Q3. Any other suggestions on how to use Subsonic in this specific use case? Q4. Any comments on whether MigratorDotNet would be a better fit? (if someone has had experience with both) Q5. Could I use subsonic's bare migration framework and just have a set of SQL files to do the upgrade/downgrade? i.e. just use the framework to check database version and which scripts to run etc?

    Guys, I wanted generate the pmd report while building the project so I have added plugin to build section of my pom.xml but still it don't execute until I explicitly call mvn clean install pmd:pmd.   • Within a Visual Studio 2008 Add-In, how can I tell which interfaces a class' property implements?

    In a Visual Studio Add-In, I'm enumerating over the members of a class in the current source file. When I encounter a property (e.g. CodeElement.Kind == vsCMElement.vsCMElementProperty) I cast that CodeElement to a CodeProperty and I can see the property's name and type. What I'm having a problem with is getting a list of the property's implemented interfaces. I'm wondering if this is because the implemented interfaces might be in assemblies that Visual Studio doesn't "know" about. Is there a way to get the list of interfaces that a property implements?   • Can you open an SPSite object while being within a different site collection?

    I'm working on creating a common navigation experience across two site collections in MOSS 2007. I've looked around for various solutions and haven't found anything that fits. Our navigation is dynamic and driven by a number of factors, including audience targeting. Most of what I've found relates to having static XML and that just won't work for our requirements. What I'm down to at the moment is just getting a navigation item from site collection A while in the context of site collection B. Are there reasons I shouldn't be able to just open a navigation item from site collection A and gets its audience? Certainly there could be permissions problems on my end, or code related issues, or things that are in my control. What I'm wondering is if there's something inherent to SharePoint that would not allow this. Something I don't have control over which would force me to travel a different path.

    I think there are a few similar questions that seem to suggest using app_data in the signed request (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/signed_request/) but I'm not sure if it will be possible to do what I am trying to achieve with it as I've never used it before. If I have my Facebook 'Tab' Url as follows: http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID What I want to do is add an extra parameter on the end as follows: &WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 The reason for this is for tracking purposes and links will be sent out of the form http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID&WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 and the extra parameter will allow us to track the campaign id. As you can see I have no way of knowing the value of the parameter beforehand as it depends on the link clicked by the user so is it possible to somehow get the value of the WT.mc_id parameter inside my iframe app?

  • What is the process involved in viewing a webservice in a browser from within visual studio?

    I have created a new VS2008 ASP.Net Web service project, with the default name WebService1. If I right click on the Service1.asmx file and select 'View in Browser' what are the processes that go on to make this happen? I am asking because I have a situation where when I run this from a visual studio project started in our development shell (which sets up a common build environment) I cannot get the web service to show up in the browser. It starts the asp.net development server and creates a single file: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\c43ddc22\268ae91b\hash\hash.web but when I start it from a stand alone project i get a whole slew of files in here: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\edad4eee\d198cf0e\App_Web_defaultwsdlhelpgenerator.aspx.cdcab7d2.vicgkf94.dll C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\edad4eee\d198cf0e\service1.asmx.cdcab7d2.compiled etc etc I am trying to debug this but not really getting anywhere. i have inspected the output from VS but the only option I get is for the build output, which is basic and doesn't really contain any information that is useful. I have tried running both versions with DebugView running but no output there either. I would like to know if there are any log files I could look at, or if anyone has any suggestions on how I might be able to debug what is going wrong here? For completeness the output I get when it doesn't work is: Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. I need to check to see where the time period falls in a 2 year period broken into two lots of quarters then display what quarters each record falls into. Quarter 1 includes June 09, Jul 09, Aug 09 Quarter 2 includes Sept 09, Oct 09, Nov 09 Quarter 3 includes Dec 09, Jan 10, Feb 10 Quarter 4 includes Mar 10, Apr 10, May 10 Quaretr 5 includes Jun 10, Jul 10... e.g. 01/10/09 - 01/06/10 would fall into quarters 2, 3, 4 & 5 I am very new to .NET so any examples would be much appreciated.

In the Target statement itself passed to the MSBuild task. I am wondering whether I can remove the second instance and replace it with the reference to the Project metadata of the target, which name is given to the Target task? Exactly the same question is asked for the (Targets.DependsOnTargets) metadata. It is mentioned twice much like the %(Targets.Project) metadata. Thanks. EDIT: I should probably describe the constraints, which must be satisfied by the solution: I want to be able to build individual projects with ease. Today I can simply execute msbuild file.proj /t:T1 to build the T1 target and I wish to keep this ability. I wish to emphasize, that some projects depend on others, so the DependsOnTargets attribute is really necessary for them.

  • How to specify a web service URL within a Drupal module's simpletest?

    I have a Drupal module that talks to a REST API on a separate server for user registration and authentication. The module runs on multiple sites which point to different servers which may run different versions of the REST API. Ideally, I'd like to be able to run each site against its own end-point, in case changes on the back end break things. Is there a way to dynamically specify a different end-point URL when running a test? Or do I have to edit the .test file for each site? I'm trying to keep the module's files as generic and flexible as possible. I guess I could have the .test file look for a .inc file that could override the URL, if needed for a particular site. Is there a better way though?

    I am trying to execute a Perl script like so: /usr/bin/ec2-consistent-snapshot 'vol-dr3131c2' When the Perl script fails it exits using 'die' and prints out an error message. I can see that error message when executing manually, but I am failing to capture it through PHP.     Let's just I had the following code: foo.h class Foo { // ... }; foo.cpp #include "foo.h" // Functions for class Foo defined here... Let's say that Foo are built into a static library foo.lib. Now let's say I have the following: foo2.h class Foo { // ... }; foo2.cpp #include "foo2.h" // Functions for class Foo defined here... This is built into a separate static library foo2.lib. Now, if I re-link foo.lib and foo2.lib into an executable program foo.exe, should it be complaining that class Foo has been defined twice? In my experiences, neither the compiler or the linker are complaining. I wouldn't be expecting the compiler to complain, because they have been defined in separate translation units. But why doesn't the linker complain? How does the linker differentiate between the 2 versions of the Foo class? Does it work by decorating the symbols?

  • Including the functionality of a tool within another program?

    Hi there I would like to write an application, for my own interest, that graphically visualizes some network concepts. Basically I would like to show the output from tools like ping, traceroute and nmap. The most obvious approach seems to be to use pipes to call out to these tools from my C program, and process the information they return. However, I would like to avoid this heavy-handed approach if possible. My question is, is it possible to somehow link against these tools, or are there APIs that can be used to gain programatic access instead? If so, is this behavior available on a tool-by-tool basis only? One reason for wanting to do this is to keep everything in a single process / address space and to avoid dependance on these external tools. For example, if I wrote an iphone application, I would not be able to spawn processes to call out to the external tools themselves. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.
