  • How to create digital signature that can not be used to reproduce the message twice

    I am creating a client-server application and I'd like to send data from server to client securely. Using public/private key algorithms makes sense and in PHP we can use openssl_sign and openssl_verify functions to check that the data came by someone who has the private key. Now imagine that one of the actions sent by server to client is destructive in nature. If somebody uses an HTTP sniffer to catch this command (which will be signed properly) how can I further protect the communication to ensure that only commands coming from our server get processed by the client? I was thinking about using current UTC time as part of the encrypted data but client time might be off. Is there a simple solution to the problem?

From what i read, there's the 'left join fetch', but i'm not sure if it still works with more than one list (oneToMany)..     Hello, please, does any of you knows and can share an easy/clean way to find a substring within a string, but ignoring some specified characters to find it. I think an example would explain things better: string: "Hello, -this- is a string" substring to find: "Hello this" chars to ignore: "," and "-" found the substring, result: "Hello, -this" Using Regex it's not a requirement for me, just added the tag because it feels related.

    Hello Experts! i'm trying to create an application which connects to internet and consume web services for every of it's operation.As far as i'm concerned i'll like to useasync method which i'm using already to get a collection of Contacts.I've realized that when i'm doing the same for groups (meaning getting groups async) i'm having errors in the calls , but when using normal call there ins't.So i did some research online and find that a lot of people has the same problem.     I just built an application using ASP.NET MVC. The programmers at my company want to build all future modules using n-Tiered (Presentation Layer, Business Logic Layer, Data Access Layer) architecture. I am not the programmer and need to know why this makes sense? Do I have to completely rewrite the entire code or can it be converted? We are building an HRIS system with Business Intelligence. Somebody please explain why or why not this approach does or does not make sense.

    Somebody told me that allocating with malloc is not secure anymore, I'm not a C/C++ guru but I've made some stuff with malloc and C/C++. Does anyone know about what risks I'm into?     I'm trying to calculate somebody's bowel health based on a points system. I can edit the data structure, or logic in any way. I'm just trying to write a function and data structure to handle this ability. Pseudo calculator function: // Bowel health calculator var points = 0; If age is from 30 and 34: points += 1 If age is from 35 and 40: points += 2 If daily BMs is from 1 and 3: points -= 1 If daily BMs is from 4 and 6: points -= 2 return points; Pseudo data structure: var points_map = { age: { '30-34': 1, '35-40': 2 }, dbm: { '1-3': -1, '4-6': -2 } }; I have a full spreadsheet of data like this, and I am trying to write a DRY version of code and a DRY version of this data (ie, probably not a string for the '30-34', etc) in order to handle this sort of thing without a humongous number of switch statements.

  • Windows Identity Foundation - Local STS on Windows Azure.

    Hello, I am trying to use Federated authentication on Azure. I found a example of having a local sts outside azure which is used for authentication from a web role hosted in azure. This works perfectly. My issue is, i dont want to have an application outside azure. Instead, I want to host the local sts website also in azure. So in effect I will have two web roles (1. my actual website, 2. the sts). I tried the above approach my creating a new webrole and moving the files from my original sts project. But i am getting compilation errors even if I reference the required dlls. I have also set "copy local" to true. It will be very helpful if somebody can guide me.. Thanks

    Hello, I have a problem with a html select object and its options in IE. My html <select id="Select1" onchange="closeMenu1(this.value)"> <option></option> <option>1</option> <option>2</option> And the javascript function closeMenu1 (x) { var show = document.getElementById("divID"); show.innerHTML = x; } Now, in every browser except the IEs the divID will show up the value which I selected in the select object. But IE doesn’t. Can somebody please tell me a way around that? Thanks.

    I know I'll get into all kinds of trouble for bringing this up on SO, but considering that nearly all of us programmers depend on the Internet to get our jobs done, I really think it's worth looking into today's failure of our right to use the Internet by way of Lobbying ISPs. Although something tells me there will be retribution for the actions of the ISPs/tel cos/cable and their lobbyist since, lets face it...ISPs/Telcos didn't invent the Internet. I'm not going to be the one to do it, but um I think somebody already has...as everybody I talked to was having Internet connection problems today at work. Just thought this might be relevant to all of our jobs...in the U.S.A. at least. If you work at an Big evil ISPs, by all means...try and close this question.
